gold sunrise Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 (edited) What does Cooper need to do to, in order to be successful in 2008/2009? Remember, please be constructive. Edited September 24, 2008 by STRIKE3
SirMixAlot Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 This year will probably be a struggle, but they defintaly got this program off to the right start hiring Sullivan.
budman0209 Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 They will not be able to compete in this region for at least 2 to 3 years. This is a total rebuilding job and will take a lot of patience. Who will they have on their roster this year with any varsity or J.V. experience?

Who will they have on their roster this year with any varsity or J.V. experience? As you said, the varsity team will be a complete "building" job. Rebuilding would imply something was there before! Seriously, though, it will be interesting to see how Cooper competes at the freshman and junior varsity level. That should give a good impression of where they stand for the future.

Not Nessicarly, I would assume there will be a lot of freshman and sophmores playing varsity this year with the low number of Senoirs Copper has.
kyfootballfan32 Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 I would anticipate it might not take as long as some think to get this program competitive. If I am not mistaking there is no open enrollment in Boone Co. So If a kid lives in Cooper's District then he will be required to go there or pay tuition to go some where else. I know that seniors have a choice but that is it. I could see this program competitive in 2 to 3 years.

Coach Sullivan will build a good program sooner rather then later IMO..

The talent pool is not very good. I would be suprised if they compete for a district championship in the first five years of competition. Patience is going to be tested with the Cooper staff.
ColonelCrazy Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 If they're pulling kids strictly from the Conner "pool" then things could be tough for a while. How are the facilities at Cooper? Has anyone seen them?
wildcatfan Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 I believe they have some out-of-town transfers. I don't know how good they are. Since Boone County has been one of the fastest growing in the state, Cooper, Conner, and Ryle can benefit from transfers. Union, Hebron, and other parts of Boone County have had lots of people transfer in due to the Airport, etc. Boone County High is pretty landlocked and doesn't have any new housing developments.
coachjm75 Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 :fire:I think that cooper has a great set of kids and parents and on top of all that, they have one of the best HEADCOACHES in the area and it will take some time and patience and 2-3 years of building a team. They definetly got this program off to the right start hiring Coach Borchers.

Earth's Savior Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Anyone have any knowledge of who their players are at all?
