Yes, fear of losing your shot at a starting position is a great motivator. If the seniors lead and the juniors push, they'll only get better. The other good thing about this scenario is it should provide great depth, the ability to wear down opponents.

I think you are right, that is a big and talented class. There are some very solid players in that group who will surely contribute in a major way next year. However, I think people under estimate this senior class coming up. All through the careers at X they have been maligned as not being a strong class. From watching them grow up, I think they have come a very long way since thier freshman year. In reality, from top tp bottom, shear numbers, they are not as loaded as the classes in front or behind them. I think, though, they will be an incredibly strong class in that they are a very close, tightnit group. Much like the 2004 class (similar reputation) that won a state championship. As everyone knows, team chemistry play a huge role at the high school level (as others). This group has some very strong players of it's own that will play key roles. On offense there is Vic and Eckman in the backfield. O'Daniel, Ott and Sinclair on the line. On defense they will have Schmitt and Androla on the line, Bisig and Wolf in LB & DE spots, and Huelsman and Barrito in secondary. All of these guys played a significant role as juniors and will be who team is built around this year. They are all very strong players who will be solid leaders as well. There are some other seniors that will be filling in other postions as well. If you take this core group of seniors who are hard working and determined and mix in some of the juniors I think you will see another strong X team that will be equipped to take on the challenge of defending thier district title and returning to the state game.

As previously stated, Glaser's getting this postion Certainly had nothing to do with that football game. Just a major difference in philosophy: trinity fans relate everything to football, while ST X., fans/alumni realize there is so much more to the school (and life). Glaser lives and breathes St X. Not a better person for the postion. His desire to see these young men develope into future leaders in the community is unmatched. Foreign concept to you?

Are you talking about the rising juniors or the current junior(seniors to be) class?

Don't take one person's opinion as representative of the X team mindset! While I do believe the Tigers rivalry with Male has been heating up over the years due to 'district supremacy' nothing and I mean NOTHING will replace the rivalry with T. Yes, there is a reason all the top venues have to be used to host the various sports. X vs T is the TOP rivalry in the state. If not by virtue of the players, then by the intense loyalty of the alumni. Just as you fight with your brother one day and back to being friends the next, this is the case with these two. Bragging rights is a great thing. It is what makes this all so much fun!

Even here in Louisville I would suspect there are many who don't know when and where the combines are. I would also ask the same question. Does anyone have info or could tell us where to find dates/locations of combines.

I definitely think you are right. Lots of holes to fill on both sides of the ball for X. Off: less size on line but may be more agressive kids, QB big 'leadership' shoes to fill, RB's Vic and Duece and co. really strong. on Def: line good experience, significantly bigger across with good experience last year- could be the strengh of the D, LB's good competition, sound Jr's and sophs coming up, Secondary- good experience last year acouple of good soph's coming up to join jr's who played well last year. Overall, should be very strong by mid-year. Anyone have info on T

I think you could probably add John Hardin to the list of contenders as well. As usual, the west is again going to be the tougher side. You are right, NH and Male will have some good running backs return but I think X will once again have strenght in #s. Alot of juniors got key playing time on the defensive side of the ball. Add a couple of really strong sophs and ,once again, a strong TEAM defense beats an individual performance in the race to Papa Johns

If you call your academic record 'tremendous' ...that would make our record Stupendous! :ylsuper: Keep counting those National Merit Scholars...eventually you'll need to use both hands. Oh, and I certainly think the Xmen will be up to the challenge next fall as well

Not challenging X & T -their records stand untouched. ST X (and I guess T ) are top notch in academic standing.The original comment, I thought, pertained to schools in general, not X & T in particular. Obviously privates control their educational setting on an individual basis, not as a district or school system as a whole.

The people who decide enrollments, ect are NOT necessarily the same people who are doing all the whining about football records. Parents of a district public school do not have direct input as to the #s re: enrollment. Obviously, X & T are different situation. We can excell in both.

Just you ever consider they were thinking of the best 'educational' situation when determining the enrollment. Not every school places football wins above all else at their school. That's exactly why they have the class sytem based on size. Contrary to your belief, many of us send our kids to school to learn in the best setting, football is/should be a bonus!

I don't think Coach Glaser or the Tigers are going to run from Coach Beatty! He would take a repeat of '04 or he'll be glad to take on T in the title game. Just know they plan on being back in PapaJohn stadium next Dec. Besides, wouldn't you like to see another 'all-catholic final', that would suit me just fine! :thumb:

No need for suicide watch. Very proud of the season our kids had. Purpose of the quote was more in line with the saying "on any given day...any team can pull the upset" I love how you rock fans ignore the rest of the season and only look at the one game. Yes, the trophy has your name on it but most out there who are objective football fans would likely agree X was the stronger team. That was the point of the post! Oh', that's right I don't think I have ever met an objective rock's fan. :irked: Rocks played with a lot of heart, whipped X's offensive line and won the game. Now, let's move on to next season. X will be there waiting for you in the title game if you make it!

Frosh D-line was fantastic. A couple of them may get the opportunity to dress, could get some playing time in a backup role. Had to beat the value of experience the older guys already have.

look thru the history of sports in all different venues. one game make make you 'champs' on parper but it does not make you the undeniable "best" team of the year. Reevaluating the way the season went, Sept. 23 included, I think there is a justifiable argument of which is the best team of the 2005 season. See you next fall.

Very true. apparently many of the Jr's are already back in the weight room. Chose to ignore the ' take a week off to rest' theory. The Jr's I know took the loss very hard and very personal. hey now fully understand it takes all you have...and a little bit more to end the season on top. I think chemistry of this group will be really strong as well.They are driven and they will be back!
