  1. Griffin (younger brother of Brandon Griffin) is another very good player for the Camels.
  2. I do not know where you get this information from but since Coach Styer has taken over the program the numbers have stayed consistent and even increased on the varsity level. Where CCHS had problems retaining kids was from the short John Schlarman era.
  3. Their offense has not been so great the past 2 games. If you watch the game films from both the Ryle & Boone games Campbell County really shot themselves in their own foot when it came to the offensive side of the ball. During the Conner game the offense played very well and minimized the turnovers. If I remember correctly they only had 1 TO and that was a fumble in the 4th. Campbell County finally put everything together last night and played the way they are capable of playing and the results showed it. Low points for Conner and high points for Campbell County. BTW, I am not surprised by the final score. Campbell County is a very good football team but when they played the way they did the past 2 games the outcomes that happened will happen and that was 2 lost.
  4. Was not able to see the match but looked at the KHSAA website and saw that Campbell won in 2 games: 25 - 23, 25 - 19. Nice job for the Camels.
  5. Campbell County was also missing 2 starting offensive players.
  6. This is very sad to hear and my thoughts and prayers are with the family and his friends. To think that 3 water breaks in 94 -95 degree weather in 1 1/2 hours is adequate to me seems a little bit crazy but that is just me. I would like everyone to think about just SITTING watching a football game in this temperature and see how many times you take a drink within 1 1/2 hours. I bet it is more than 3 times. Also remember these kids have full gear on and have a helmet on. The majority of the bodies heat leaves through the head. This is such a tradegy that should never happen.
  7. Has the turf been laid yet? I know the profect is not complete yet. Their soccer teams are playing on an offsite field right now.
  8. I would hope that any good athletic trainer would try to do what is best for their athlete. No one is obligated to go to the doctor that the athletic trainer recommends it is merely a suggestion.
  9. :thumb: I don't think people realize EXACTLY what an athletic trainer does so when it comes to athletics it usually is the last thing people think of because they think a coach can do the samething.
  10. That is true but it necessarily doesn't mean that the athletic trainer will get the athlete back to the rehab clinic. IF the athlete & parent like the doctor and like the care that he or she received I can't see why they wouldn't goto the athletic trainer's PT clinic. Alot of time for a clinical outreach athletic trainer alot of it is customer service.
  11. They can make a suggestion but that does not mean you have to go to that certain physical therapy clinic. Plus in NKY (this is the area I have the most association with) the only people who have an affiliation to a group of doctors is the St. E's group and maybe St. Luke's but I am not too sure who their (St. Luke's) orthos are. That is the only group I can think of that has any affilation to a certain group of doctors. I forgot to mention that most athletic trainer's refer their athlete to a specific doctor(s) because they know they doctor and they know they will get in quickly and they don't have to wait for a couple of days.
  12. I agree regarding the neglegence. I have been to schools that are very close to NKY and that play football that have no athletic trainer on site. Those schools are just waiting for a lawsuit IMO. EEK good question about the rural area. I am not too sure what I would do. I guess then you would have to hire an athletic trainer through the school system. I am not against hiring an athletic trainer through the school system all I am saying is it cheaper to contract one out through a company. I have seen it work at many schools throughout the country. In one of my previous I also said it is a huge liability not to have an athletic trainer. I think KHSAA needs to make a rule that states that if you have football (some people might throw soccer in here as well) and you want to have a HOME football game you must have an athletic trainer on site for all games (Varsity, JV, Freshman). This is just my opinion. I also think if KHSAA does not do something to this effect they are opening themselves up for a lawsuit as well. I know there are some schools like you say that are not close to anything and it would be very difficult to hire an athletic trainer but I have seen it done in other states. It is possibly to do you just have to be creative to make it happen.
  13. Rehab and doctor are 2 totally different things. Most companies charge a minimal price to contract an athletic trainer to a high school (less than $10K like I said in a previous post). To make up the difference for salary most of the time the athlete will goto the clinic for physical therapy (most athletic trainers make between $27 - 40K a year). Most of the time an athletic trainer will suggest a doctor(s) to a parent. I know that is how it happens out our high school. No one can force a parent to send their child to their respective clinic. Maybe understood is not the right word but for the most part this is a common practice.
  14. What I meant by my comment is that I do not think a school should have to hire a FT athletic trainer meaning the school system should not have to pay for their salary. A school could have a full time athletic trainer for less than $10,000 a year if they decide to contract out with a clinic to have an athletic trainer cover their sports. I know for the most part in NKY that the majority of high schools use a clinical outreach athletic trainer to cover their sporting events and I would have to say that the athletic trainer has been the same athletic trainer for many years. If the service someone provides is good then the school will keep the company and the athletic trainer.
  15. For the most part each school pays a small fee to the company that is providing the service (athletic trainer). The high school does not pay any of the athletic trainer's salary but it is "understood" that the student athlete goes to their respective company for rehab. Getting back on the subject. Like you said a PT can not cover a sporting event unless they are PT. ALOT of people think they can. I don't think alot of people realize what exactly an athletic trainer does and what type of education they have.
  16. Well that is a whole mess with liability then, especially if the person is not certified. Also, I can't see many certified athletic trainers volunteering their time for a particular high school unless they really really like the school. Athletic trainers work enough hours and very few get the recognition they deserve. Like coupon said I have seen athletic trainers run from one sporting event to another then to another. I wish some schools would wake up and see that each school needs at least one to cover their events. It is a huge liability not to have an athletic trainer especially, when it comes to football & soccer.
  17. Kind of confused here by what you mean as free? Yes I know free is free but are you saying that schools are not paying a certain company to have an ATC cover their schools? Like you mentioned most NKY schools I know of are covered by an ATC from a physical therapy company/hospital and there are a few that have hired their own through the school. I don't think a school should have to hire a full time athletic trainer but I do think they should have one on site for all home games.
  18. I thought alot of the money was raised from the Banquet. If that is incorrect than I was misinformed.
  19. I guess my point is there are those on here that know exactly where the money came from and instead of stating it outright they want to beat around the bush and start drama that doesn't need to be started. Why can't those that are beating around the bush just state that there was a fundraiser and if I remember correctly it was a fundraising dinner that obviously brought in some big time people that have some big time money. Like I said before there would be no "Where the money came from" conversation if this happened to a few certain high schools in NKY but because there have been posts on here regarding some problems with the sports medicine (I think it was on the football forum) personnel no longer being at Beechwood this has become a big deal (I think the NovaCare comment just shows that this rubs some people the wrong way). This is just my opinion. If I were Beechwood people I would just be happy that they are going to have a great baseball facility on their campus. I for one can't wait to see what the new million dollar renovations will look like.
  20. I am fine. I just do not understand why it makes a difference where the money comes from. I have a feeling if this was a couple of other schools school in NKY no one would have been "curious" like you say where the money comes from.
  21. Just curious here. Does it really matter on where the money came from? Beechwood is probably going to have one of the best fields in the area which they have not had in a sometime. How much money did Beechwood schools have to put up? If the answer is a big fat zero than why does it matter where the money came from? Also, didn't the majority of the money come from a fundraiser?
  22. I agree with you on this. A pitcher can only take you so far in any game/tournament.
