  1. Tever Miller is now with the Tampa Bay Rays.
  2. I get what you say but you can't compare baseball and softball. Secondly, if team b was better than team A (allen) then they should be able to beat her. Third, how many state titles does Ryle have?
  3. Probably not but I still do not understand your point of limiting a kid's innings pitched. Like I said before if the fastpitch would gain strength in NKY or even KY then most people would not have the attitude as you do. If kids were coached correctly we probably would not have this discussion regarding if a pitcher should have their innings limited. Here is my point why is it Allen's fault or even Ryle's fault that Allen is so good. She worked her butt off to be where she is and why should she be "punished" per say by limiting her innings. To me it seems like a league ball mentality where everyone gets to play. This is a varsity sport if you want to develop a player then put them on JV so they can get plenty of playing time.
  4. Just curious as does everyone have 2 varsity quality pitchers? Also, isn't JV teams there to help develop players?
  5. Yes and no. Most coaches teach the rise ball by getting "under" the ball by bending the back leg to get the rise but yes it does have a little stress on the elbow. However, nowadays if you watch a college game they use the rise ball as a waste pitch.
  6. So true. I have worked with many pitching coaches (mostly those who were Div 1 pitchers and now teach pitching) and the first 2 things they say are get your mechanics right and you have to get your legs under you to be able to pitch well.
  7. "Than why is it so many pitchers have ruined their rotator cuffs?" Where are you getting your stats from? I have been in fastpitch for over 25 years (in highly competitive to not so very competitive softball) and I have seen two shoulder injuries in a fastpitch pitcher and most of them were not due to overuse but due to poor mechanics. Like I said in my previous post an underhand pitching mechanic is a natural motion for the shoulder unluck an overhand throw.
  8. The reason why there is no pitch restriction for fastpitch is because the mechanics of a windmill pitcher is a natural mechanic of the shoulder and so there is less stress on the shoulder/elbow. There are many pitchers in the college ranks that pitch every game (doubleheaders) and then pitch every game in a tournament without having any arm injury. The 43ft change in the pitcher mound has been discussed for many years. It will be interesting to see how the game changes because I know right now that if that change does happen it will hurt the pitchers in NKY than it will in the majority of the state because there is such a lack of pitching.
  9. Until fastpitch can evolve in NKY alot of people will have the same attitude as you do. If you goto California, Arizona, Florida, Oklahoma and/or Texas people there would totally disagree with you. The Allen girl would be one of many girls that are average pitchers in these 5 states (not taking anything away from her). Until you have coaches who can teach the game PROPERLY fastpitch will never gain in NKY. Also I think until people's attitudes change that fastpitch is just a pitcher/catcher game then the attitudes of of alot of people will think the sameway you do. There are ways to learn to hit the Allen girl and like I said whenever this area can get coaches to teach girls the proper way to hit pitchers with Allen's talent the game will never succeed in NKY. Until you get away from the knothole leagues and ASA comes in here and takes over the opinions of people like you will not change. I had a disagreement with someone regarding fast and slow and my question to them was what strategy is there to slowpitch? You can't bunt, steal, and/or put a squeeze play on. I am not taking anything away from the girls who are playing slowpitch right now but it seems to me that the attitudes of people in the southern part of the state are changing towards fastpitch as the only teams that play slowpitch (only 10 - 12) are teams from Boone, Kenton & Campbell County and that is getting fewer every year. Just curious as to how many state championship titles Ryle has with Allen as the pitcher? Obviously, someone is putting the ball in play. My suggestion to you is go catch a University of Kentucky or UofL fastpitch game. I think your attitude would change about the game.
  10. Austin Studer wide receiver for Campbell County has decided to walk on at EKU. Good luck to Austin as he begins the next chapter of his athletic career.
  11. Bobby Estes came in in relief in the 7th of Ben Franzen.
  12. There are grumblings but IMO you are just looking for something that does not need to be brought up on a message board. Leave it alone. You said you are hearing things and more than likely they are true, why do you want to bring them up on a message board to create even more drama? And more than likely it is none of your business.
  13. I agree 100%. Both teams played very well. I just wish I could watch a game that was officiated well. Haven't seen one of those in quite sometime.
  14. I understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinion but there were quite a few people during the district tournament that complimented the CC announcer on how he announced the game. I guess it is what you like.
  15. When would you like the announcer to announce the #s? While the band was playing? They have been doing split the pot at the sametime for every game and no one has complained. Congrats to Campbell County. It started off rough but you all came through and got the job done when you needed too.
  16. Bracken won in the regular season by 7 and they out rebounded the Camels by double digits if I remember correctly.
  17. Not bitter. It is all about sportsmanship. A grown man running on the court and egging on high school kids and acting the sameway to a bunch of kids who just lost is uncalled for. I think if a CC parent did the samething as this Scott parent the Scott fans would be saying the samething the CC fans are. Obviously, I wanted CC to win but like I said before Scott made the shots when they needed to and CC did not. Off to Regionals!!!
  18. To be honest and I know this is going to sound crazy but I do not think the administration saw it and if they did see it they were probably in shock that a grown man would act like that. Also, I think the AD and the Superindendent were at the other end (near the entrance) of the gym and the other principals were standing on the other end (near the locker rooms). Where I was sitting I do not know if the principals could have seen him because they could have been blocked by people.
  19. ...and khaki pants. I have to agree with you 100%. I looked at this person and thought WOW, you are a grown man and you have to do that to high schoolers. I have one word, PITIFUL! Not taking away from the Scott team because they made the shots when they had too and played their hearts out but were these the best officials for a district tournament? They were terrible IMO in all of the games. Very questionable calls in the Scott/Brossart game and then tonight. Once again congrats to the Scott team.
  20. I would say yes and no. Campbell County lost 53 - 57 in December. They were winning the majority of the game in December and lost it in the 4th quarter. At the sametime I guess you could call it an upset because Brossart was the #1 seed and did not win the tournament.
  21. Why do you think it is the AD? At our high school the coach makes his own schedule.
  22. I disagree with you here. Like someone said he inherited some great players. He already stated that he was leaving after this year. He knew when to leave.
