Thanks for the info. I always had heard that 30 was tops.

Maybe some other Casey Co. fans can answer that, I'm no Rebel expert just passing on what I have heard by several people that I have associated with in Casey Co. over the last two years. It was said earlier, probably sour grapes!

The word is that Cole is a 4.0 student who scored a perfect 30 on the ACT. Per his own interview in our local paper he is planning on committing either to Vandy or Stanford before the official start of the season. I feel that several big schools in our region has more than dropped the ball on John Cole. We here in Somerset seen flashes of greatness his Soph. year playing beside Ray Norman. Last year speaks for itself and I'm sure this season will also.

Where's the SW guys, I'm interested to see how this scrimmage shaped out.

Line play looked fine to me but I was mostly watching Hughes, Shoemaker, Cole, and Coomer. Kenny's shoulder seemed to hold up fine, he had some very nice punishing runs up the middle. Sorry I don't know the names of the linemen yet but I will, don't be to upset with me----I knew your name...:ylsuper:

Somerset looked good! At first the scrimmage was set up 10 plays/10 plays with the ball always being placed on the 50 yard line. Somerset ran the ball probably 80-90% fairly successful with Kenny Hughes and Chad Shoemaker. Cobb didn't show much with the passing game at this point. Somerset's D looked good moving to the ball well. Next the JV teams played the same format. After the JV teams the Varsity teams came back out and played a real game format minus kickoffs/punts. At this time Coach Cobb opened the passing game up scoring on both of Somerset's possessions (Cole/Hughes). Somerset won this format 2-0. Then NL went on offense from the 10 yard line twice, 1st possession Somerset's D stopped them on 4th down on the 5 yard line. SL's 2nd possession they scored I believe on 4th down on a very nice pass from the QB. Somerset didn't go back on offense after that. I would give Somerset a strong "B" to "B+" performance.

I'm sure that your right, but I was just repeating what I have heard from a few parents in Casey Co. This attitude may be from the youth league where one team was stacked with talent and lets say the other wasn't. But I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm sure its sour grapes.:thumb:

Is the scrimmage still on and if so is it still at 6:00? I have been wondering if the heat would push the time back.

I have spoken with several people from Casey Co. about some of the problems that the program is having. I mainly here that the administration needs to get someone in there who doesn't play politics and favorites. Your big programs put the best players on the field, not according to who your dad is. The thing that I believe Casey needs most is to do a major upgrade on the athletic facilities. I know that the football field is very poor, with an upgrade is could spark more interest from others in the school. When the school starts showing interest then the kids will follow...imo.

Good luck to Casey County this year, I thought that numbers would be higher than that but you take what you have. I've been looking forward to Somerset and Casey playing each other. My oldest son has played against the teams in the Casey Co. Youth League for a few years.

You are correct...runner ups in 2002 and 1990....:ylsuper:

Corbin only has 3 titles- 1982, 1980, and 1976. Corbin were state runner-ups in 1977 and 1962. :thumb:

Seems to me you're just trying to stir the pot, I have said nothing negative about SW or PC as I support all of our local teams. For the last several years I have made it a point to go to SW's home scrimmage. Can't wait until Aug. 10th to watch you guys scrimmage Russell Co. As to moral support, if any of the SW players are reading this I hope that you light up Rockcastle Co. and beat them handily. Give it everything that you have, never give up. :thumb:

I 100% agree that tough schedules make for better teams, especially when it counts---Playoffs. I just hope that the team comes out much healthier than last year. No doubt without the key injuries last years team would have went a few more weeks in November. My point is do you get to a point when you have to draw a line with the schedules, the schedule no doubt helps in the end but I hope without any key injuries. With the prediction on the game, I'm not going against you guys in any form or fashion. I'm just posting what I believe to be true and that is SW took a big hit with graduation. Yes I know that you guys reload, as do most great programs but I feel it will take a few weeks for the replacements to get to full speed. I would like to know why? I'm for you guys every game that you will ever play besides of course when you play Somerset. The fact is SW lost alot of talent in the 18 Seniors that graduated, I do look for you to re-load but I think it will take several weeks for this to develop. Dale scheduled one of the toughest schedules in the state, this will either make SW or break SW come playoff time. Good luck!

Not to repeat myself but just drove past the field again and yes I did see grass earlier. It appears to be coming up all over the field, interesting to see how quick it grows. I've heard that this particular bermuda grass will crop 18 inches a day when it gets in full swing.

I drove by the field today and thought that I saw lots of green coming up, not to thick in the middle yet but at least green. What a difference a few days can make, friday I didn't see much at all besides the same crab grass on the sides. Still interesting to see how the field plays out.

I look for the SW vs RC game to be very close and evenly matched and should be the best game of the night, although I'm pulling for you guys at SW, RC by 7. Without PC pulling a rabbitt out of the hat (No pun intended), I don't see them hanging with Somerset this year. Somerset 42 PC 13

If that is correct it doesn't sound very well on my Jumpers! I would like to know the facts from Somerset's side before I make a judgement, but as of right now I'm disappointed in the situation.

:cry: :cry: :cry: If you want to talk Pulaski Football then start a Pulaski thread. If you don't want to play in the Ray Correll Bowl then talk to your administration about it.

I noticed the same thing, I wonder if Somerset is preparing itself to possibly be playing on one of the county fields. Although I do believe that the field will be ready--thats what the professionals are telling the administration--it doesn't hurt to have plan B in place.

I wish the season started tomorrow but unfortunately it doesn't. So the next best thing is to read about the upcoming season through the eyes of Bluegrasspreps. Will the preview stay with the same format as the past with now that we have 6 classes?

I went by the field today and noticed grass is already starting to grow. Seems that CCHS_Dad knows what he is talking about. Hopefully to more months worth of growing and it will be ready to play on.
