  1. I saw film of JC and definitely believe CovCath not only can play with them, but have the talent/ability to BEAT them! Not a knock on JC, but CovCath is a different team in this "second season" and "the Spirit that Never Dies" has been revived!
  2. And all along I thought it was because we watch films in a bar!! :dancingpa
  3. Lil' Brother...come on home to Ft. T where you belong!
  4. Films are on Tuesday! They decieved me last week...or maybe I was ate up with playoff fever!
  5. ...there are quite a few more than 40 that HATE HHS!! (LOL)
  6. Tell me he's a noseman!! Poor Tyler Combs, will be 3rd week in a row blocking 380+ pound lineman!!
  7. Look for Brock "the Rock" Messina and Whiting "lightning" to stifle anything Ballard can muster. 'Rocks roll in this one! NEXT!
  8. It truly is a case by case scenario. You have to look not only at the physical size and talent, but the mental maturity of the player. If mishandled, it can retard the development instead of promote it. Most cases it's an honor for the kid to play up...key word being "play". If he moves up and doesn't play, or is getting man-handled...then that's the indicator to move him back down.
  9. MVP ...most versatile ...valuable...vulnerable...volatile? (lol) They are ALL MVP's in my book! We are no better than our weakest link so nobody should get the big head (no pun intended!) I was just trying to illustrate the need to let Dale be Dale and steer the boys back to PJS! Please don't take offense.
  10. Oliver Head is probably the defensive MVP for the Birds. To use him at feature back would diminish his much needed speed and hitting on defense. And let's face it, defense wins championships! Give Ollie some spot carries, as he can be lightning in a bottle, but let the others carry the O...while O carries the D!!
  11. Sure was!...second "pick" this season. One against Colerain and last night's against BS. If he could ONLY find the endzone....(lol).
  12. Hey, off topic, but did anyone get a photo of Adam Dempsey's interception against Bryan Station Friday? PM me if you did! Thanks!
  13. "TURNED THE MONGOOSE LOOSE!" SR. RB/LB Josh "Mongoose" Montooth erupts for 202 yds on 19 carries for 2 TD's (61 yd, 23 yd) and seals the deal with a 33 yd "pick 6" in a 35-20 1st round playoff victory for Ludlow over Eminence. Great job, Josh!!
  14. Obviously, I disagree. Just because the competition was high, doesn't mean that SOME players had good/great games. Some playing sub-par games came on on improved later in the contest. Games are made up of good plays and bad plays...hopefully your side makes more good than bad and you win! Last night's game wasn't what we expected or want from the Birds...but give BS the credit for that.
  15. WOW! Flashback to 1971 when the same BS team came to FT. T and beat HHS (albeit with better looking uniforms...but that's a whole different thread!) The Birds snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Even with the return of Josh Conner at RB, the Birds had to call on "the ghosts of David Cecil Memorial" to eke out out this win. First, let me compliment the entire Bryan Station Nation, as their fans, team, and coaches came ready and EXPECTING to win. They played hard nosed, smash-mouth football and gave HHS NOTHING! Players that impressed me the most for BS were their RB #3. Speed, strength, lightning moves and all compacted in a 5'3" frame...oh, and I forgot HEART! The QB was cool under pressure made the throws when they needed them. The offensive line was BIG and did a real nice job all night long! #89 did a real nice job blocking on the outside. Defensively, BS did a nice job, but HHS with 5 fumbles stopped themselves more than the defense did. HHS, hopefully, got a wakeup call here! We're fortunate to have a 6'5" punter, as David Hogue hauled down a couple of high snaps to get off one punt and scramble 20+ yards to almost get a first down on another. If those 2 plays go the other way, HHS would be spectators this morning. Josh Conner (welcome back!) didn't have a Conner-esque game, but his vision and instincts...not to mention his blocking, are as good as anyone in the state. Tony Guidugli had flashes of brilliance, then would be very pedestrian. But he "manned-up" at crunch time and led the Birds on one of the best pressure drives ever in their storied history (Gino who?). Tyler Combs, Jr. center, you know your doing a great job when nobody knows your playing center. By that I mean, all your snaps are on target and your man is not making plays. Great job all year long by this young man, but the last 2 weeks he has had to block 800 lbs of player and has performed admirably! Michael Laber, SR do-it-all, stepped over to play LG for an injured Hunter Schlosser and did a FINE job as well as his usual stellar defensive effort. Oliver Head and Brandon Roller made many saving tackles on D as did "the Cool AC Breeze" (Austin Collinsworth). AC made big plays in a big game and that's what's expected from big-time players. BS could not cover him at all...or Roller all night. And speaking of big plays, SR. all state candidate, Adam Dempsey definitely had his "A" game last night. Going both ways, he stifled the D1 DE from BS, paved the way for the running game, made numerous tackles on D and had a big interception and return that COULD have sealed the game. But penalties and TO's seemed to be the thorn for HHS this night. Films this morning WON'T be enjoyable for the Birds. Dale will have MANY coaching points to exploit this week. Look for a re-focused and mad flock of Birds next Friday. Thank you BS! The only bad part of HS FB playoffs is that one team loses. Though BS lost a game, you cannot call them losers. They played with heart, passion, smarts, and great ability. They are a proud group of players, coaches, and fans that represented their school in the highest way. Their program is headed back to its former glory. To their SRs., good luck in your future endeavors. To the underclassmen, y'all get another shot! Work hard, stay focused, listen to your coaches/parents and maybe we'll see you again next year! GREAT GAME! PS...sorry for thr LN-esque length of this post!
  16. Additional thanks the families and "significant others" of the coaches who tolerate the passion of HS FB !!
  17. BF...Will the showers begin before, during, or after the game??
  18. Heck, injury HAS been the status quo! (Josh Conner). But as LN would preach "Assess, Adapt, Overcome".
