Evarts and Cumberland will be a good one. I would have picked Cumberland, but Evarts' confidence is building and they may just be able to pull it off when they play. Harlan will be lean for a few years. Long way off, my little one's 5th/6th team has 40 boys. Thanks for your graciousness.

Well you really have a hard time just admitting you are wrong don't you? Do you think before you type? Congrats on your long lost successes. The point here and my only point is what business do you have trashing anyone or any team? Especially since you are not in the mix anymore. Kids read these posts and they don't need your sarcasm. Harlan is a (listen carefully now) small Class A school in an area where folks are leaving, not staying. There are no jobs to bring folks into our district. We have graduated 13 seniors last year. 8 the year before, and 13 the year before. We have 3 guys who have played 4 years. We have a grand total of 3 Juniors. We have decent sized Freshman and Soph. classes. Of our 9 seniors, 3 have never played. 3 have played 4 years, and 2 of the 3 played sparingly until this year. Harlan has accomplished tons with the bodies they have. Its a tough year personnel wise, guess in a growing town in a growing future insterstate corridor, its hard to grasp that. Does the truth hurt, no it doesn't. But I take offense to your comments because they are very shallow and mean spirited.

Wrong thread! But since you stuck your noses in a District 7 class A thread involving neither of your teams, I will pontificate. Gym, your comments are just like I remember from last year, at least you are consistant. How dare you come on this thread and start crowing! Your comments are disgraceful and show lack of class. I don't know your age, but I'll guess 14. When you grow up, you will learn there is more to football than winning at all costs. I'll restrict my comments because I have friends on here from your town, and I don't want to get kicked off the forum. You don't do Somerset High School any justice.

As a Dragon, I am as proud of our team as I was on Thursday, maybe more so. Of course Evarts should be proud. They should have been proud last year and the year before. We talk on this board, but those guys on all the teams go out there and give it all up every Friday. The effort is what makes us proud of you guys! Wins come and go. No one wants to win more than the players. There are some on every team who don't dig deep, but most do. My son and several Green Dragons left it all on the field Friday night. The same for most Evarts players. The name on your chest means something. If you give it your all, hold your head up regardless of what the scoreboard says.

You are right HDE and my better half just asked me didn't district games have to wait until the 3rd game of the season or some such. She is gettin' on my nerves gettin' so football savvy, but anyway since I'm showin my ignorance is that the case? If so, I guess thats why they didn't play last week. Anywho, JB and the good folks on Central Street always take the high road on matters like this. They always put me to shame class wise! I've got a little vengeful streak myself. An interesting story I heard from a reliable source was that several years ago, when Harlan didn't agree to play the Alumni Bowl on Labor Day weekend, Evarts refused to relinquish the Bucket after a Harlan win. Harlan won on labor day the next year, and got the bucket back. If this is the case, should the bucket pass to Evarts should the Wildcats prevail as it was Evarts this year, who refused to play the Alumni Bowl on Labor Day weekend? Perhaps HDE or other Gurus of Harlan County Football history could verify the story. I'm sure there are opinions out there! Should what goes around come around? Having asked that I agree that this game will be close. The Dragons need a win badly for a number of reasons and Evarts is looking for a last chance at Harlan. Let r fly!

Hard played, hard fought clean game between rivals. Lots of positives for two young football teams, not the least good sportsmanship. Cawood a much better looking team than in previous years, and Harlan not as hobbled by graduation as many thought. Breakout game for Bradford Marsili, senior wide reciever with a touchdown catch and a big time interception. Congrats to the sons of troy, they may make some district noise if they continue to improve

I agree with NG, JB is all class. I think he would play his water boys before he would run up a score. I think this one is too close to call, with an edge early if one or the other get on top by 2 TDs due to youth. Why didn't you list me LB, my feelings are hurt!
