This may have been the wackiest 8th Region Tournament ever. Three teams failed to break 30 points. One game had a 35-2 run in the second half. The #3 team in the state had 2 points with 3:20 left in the second quarter of their semifinal game. The last 6 games were all decided by double digits and an average winning margin of 19.2 points. The average score of the losing team was 37 points . And to top it off the Champions were 5-9 and 13-12 at one time.

After watching the games at Henry County I’m more convinced than ever that this may have been the biggest upset in the state this season.

Can those Newport students that wanted to play go to another school and play if they so desire?

The results the past two nights validates the 31st District championship was an upset of monumental proportions.

When 12-17 defeats 24-8 with a top 3-4 player in the state who has beaten them soundly 3 times, yes it is a huge upset.
