  1. Well considering he has been one of the best hitters in baseball for the majority of the time for the last 10 years. I think it's safe to say his approach has worked just fine. Even the best hitters go through long droughts. His usually just comes at the begging of the year, while other hitters may come in the middle or the end. At the end of the day when the season is over, he has continually been not only one of the best hitters on the reds most of his career, he has been one of the best in baseball. Which based on his numbers now, he once again by the end of the year will be one of the most valuable batters on the team.
  2. I think it may be me, but I don't want to jump the gun in case I'm wrong.
  3. Which you also added he was done, he isn't coming out of it and all that. Which a few times I has to remind you, that he has always been a slow starter. So your overreacting to his normal slow start, was for no reason. Because even with that slow start he is one of the best on the team in Avg., obp, and runs scored. With chances are he will once again lead the team in those areas once the season ends. So yeah was over the top criticism that you directed straight toward him like every single at bat, because at the end of the day he once again most likely will have been one of the most valuable hitters in the lineup.
  4. All the people obsessed with RBI totals. Seem to forget for people to get RBIs there needs to people on base usually. You need guys on a team who has a good average, obp, because that means they are not getting out. Which means they can score runs, and gives other people a chance to get the RBIs. Votto is definitely very valuable to this offense in that role. If people just learn to accept that as his value for this offense now, maybe people will stop complaining. Which I guess was the point of your post.
  5. Which if by the end of the year Votto leads the team in average, obp, and runs scored that means he did a very good job for this offense. And all the constant never ending Criticism of him by you was very pointless.
  6. Yet the scouts seemed to think he had average explosiveness, based off his pre draft anaylsis. Which btw I'm glad you were right, because I also loved Booker. Honestly even though we may not have went undefeated going into the final four. I do think UK wins it all that year and doesn't fall short, if he and Ulis were the starting back court that year. My point even reading the draft anaylsis of Booker and Herro. The analysis on both coming out is and was very similar. Booker obviously has far exceeded the expectations that was for him. I'm not saying Herro will be as good as him. Chances are most likely not, because Booker is a superstar now. All I was saying is coming out of college to at least some Herro may have had better potential, or at least thought of as similar potential. Which Booker obviously has exceeded what most besides you thought for him. My comparison is where they were coming out of college. Which I get why you disagree because I do remember how high on Booker you were.
  7. As for his shooting off the dribble. I guess perception is not always reality. You may want to look at all the draft anaylsis of him. Almost every single one talks about how he is a good shooter off the dribble. That he seems to be even better off one or two dribbles, than off a catch and release. Here are two draft analysis I found. NBA Draft 2
  8. Fair enough. Now that you say that, I do think I remember you stating that on here back then. Which you are correct the NBA scouts did get it wrong with him, because he would have been at least a top 5 pick if they knew he would be like this. I actually just went back and read a pre draft anaylsis of Booker. Which is very similar to what they have said about Herro. DraftExpress - Devin Booker NBA Draft Scouting Report and Video Breakdown There are also some question marks about Booker's ball-handling ability and how prolific of a shot-creator he will become at the NBA level. Most 3-pointers in today's NBA game come off an assist, and to fully take advantage of Booker's terrific stroke, he will have to be on a team that can manufacture good looks for him. Booker mostly stayed in his lane at Kentucky and played the role he was asked to, which is likely similar to what he will do in the NBA. He was only charted for four isolation possessions all season at Kentucky, and is unlikely to be someone that is asked to shoulder a very heavy load offensively at the next level either. 178 of the 200 shots Booker took in the half-court were jump-shots this season. In the rare cases that he does get inside the paint, he is not a great finisher, due to his average explosiveness and the lack of extension he gets around the rim due to his poor wingspan. He relies heavily on pull-up jumpers and floaters once he puts the ball on the floor, which are not the most high percentage looks in the NBA, and rarely gets to the free throw line—only 65 times in 38 games this season. NBA teams in the lottery are usually hoping to find a player who projects as either a lockdown defender, or a prolific scoring option—which Booker is neither as of right now. With that said, the shooting guard position lacks quite a bit of depth in this draft class and in the NBA as a whole right now, and there's never been a higher premium put on floor-spacing and 3-point shooters. While Booker may not possess superstar potential, he also comes with very little risk, as it will be very very surprising if he doesn't end up developing into at least a solid NBA player. At age 18, as the youngest player who will hear his name called on draft night, and someone who is younger than many of the players who participated in this year's McDonald's All-American game, there is plenty of room for him to continue to improve despite not possessing incredible physical tools or upside. - Source: DraftExpress - Devin Booker NBA Draft Scouting Report and Video Breakdown ©DraftExpress
  9. Agreed! If he goes to Tennesee he is playing 30 plus minutes a game. If he comes to UK he is probably 20 to 25 minutes a game.
  10. Johnson was a good spot up 3 point shooter. Hence his good 3 point percentage. However, he wasn't good when having to create his own shot. We will have to agree to disagree on Johnson scoring off the dribble. Johnson definitely tried to drive the ball a lot, and hence the Bully ball the one announcer always said when he drove. However, Johnson also got stuffed more than anyone when trying to drive. Herro honestly was at his best off the dribble. He seemed to shoot better off the dribble, than he did when he spotted up. Hence, why I think he was better at creating his own shot. Herro for sure needs to get more consistent at spot up shooting, and shooting off a catch. He will need to do that a lot in the NBA. I think most expect him to get better in those areas, which is why he went where he did.
  11. All I stated in their freshman seasons. Herro imo did show more potential than Booker, because he got to play to show it more than Booker got to. Which is why I said he probably showed more potential in his one year. It is obviously very easy for people to now disagree with it after seeing what Booker has become. If Booker didn't show what he has become. I very much doubt people would say Booker showed more potential. Booker and Herro both were drafted 13th based off potential. So maybe i should say they both showed the same potential, since they both went 13th. Booker obviously has definitely reached his potential. If people knew for sure Booker would become this, he probably would have went top 5 in that draft and not lasted to 13th. Booker has reached his potential, now depends if Herro can too.
  12. Tyler Herro definitely can create his own shot. He honestly was better at creating his own shot off the dribble, than he was at being a spot up shooter. So I am not exactly where where you got that assessment from. Not to mention he was really good at moving without the ball and coming off screens. As for the elite 8 lost. Yeah he had bad game that day and was off on his shot. No argument there. He was also the reason why they were playing in that game. I said it probably 10 times during the season last year. That for the life of me I couldn't figure out why most of the season Keldon Johnson was usually a lottery pick in most mock drafts. Keldon really couldn't create his own shot. Wasn't good at finishing around the rim, as his shot was blocked more than anyone. He was a good spot up shooter, but probably was the worst defender in the starting lineup. Tyler Herro showed more potential in his game during his one year at UK. Than Devon Booker did, and look at what Booker has become.
  13. Just 5 months ago you were wanting anyone but the 13th pick in the NBA draft taking a last second shot lol. Sorry just had to bring this one back up lol.
  14. As I said a month ago, it could really lead to platoon 2.0. If it wasn't for the Alex Poythress injury, they probably stay platoon in 2015. Which they were blowing people out in 2015 to start that season. I could see a platoon of: 1st team Pg Hagans Sg Maxey Sf Whitley Pf Blackshear C Montgomery 2nd team Pg Quickley Sg Juzang Sf Brooks Pf Sestina C Richards Or flip flop Quickley and Maxey to add a more explosive playmaker to the 2nd platoon.
  15. Isn't that the line of thinking that got you sent to the minors to begin with?
  16. Question are we happy or mad at Votto after his double? He didn't hit one of the homeruns, and didn't have an RBI on his double. So should we be happy with his double, that ultimately allowed him to score when another player hit a home run to get him in. Or should we be unhappy with Votto because he wasn't the one who hit a homerun or got an RBI? We have heard how him not getting out, doesn't really matter. That he has to hit home runs or RBIs to matter.
  17. Just because a teammate may get hot in a 7 game series to end up winning the Finals MVP. Doesn't mean he wasn't the most important player on the team. Steph won the MVP for the season during their first title run with him. Steph was the first unanimous MVP in NBA history. Out of all the great NBA players of all time, none had won the MVP unanimously like Steph did. That doesn't sound just like a role player to me. Not to mention he did all this while playing in the Western Conference. He wasn't in the East which until this year was really weak. A Stephen Curry led Warriors team knocked out the Durant led Thunder, which led to Durant leaving the Thunder to join him. Then shoot even this NBA finals showed Curry wasn't just a good role player. How many times have you seen an NBA team use a Box and 1 in the NBA to try to slow down a player like the Raptors did with Curry. You never see the Box and 1 in the NBA, and if you did it wouldn't be on a role player.
  18. You probably will be right. However, the same was said with Paul George when he was still a Pacer. That he would be a Laker and if a team traded for him, that it would only be for a year before he joins the Lakers via free agency. Yet he stayed with OKC. The same was also said about Leonard when he got traded to the Raptors. That he would only be there for a year before joining the Clippers. Yet now a lot of reports say how much he likes playing for Toronto now. So it may come down to if the Raptors win the title or not. If they win it, then probably even a better chance he stays. I think if Davis were to land in Boston, or New York. I think there would be a good chance he could end up deciding to stay too.
  19. In soccer everyone always celebrates after every goal, because well usually lucky to just score 2 or more goals in a game. So their whole life basically been trained to celebrate when you do get that goal. So if people don't have a problem with the 13 goals, then I don't know how people can be upset with the celebrations. If you are fine with playing hard and pressing to towards the goal, can't be upset for celebrating when they do score then. At that point if they do score and really don't do anything and just walk back to mid field, then doesn't that also look disrespectful? Also there were a few players who scored their first ever World Cup goal. I believe one of those goals was the 11th goal. Should she and the team not celebrate her first ever World Cup goal? Imo there is really no right answer here. If people are mad at the celebrating, then they should have wanted the U.S. to not even keep trying to score. You really can't have it both ways in soccer. When in soccer you always been taught to celebrate after each goal. On the flip sidr if one of the tie breakers is goal differential then, you really can't just lay off and keep passing the ball around until over. So really there is no right or wrong answer here. The only thing that could have made it better was if Thailand could have done anything to at least slow them down.
  20. So basically what I am getting is you haven't watched him in over 4 years. Considering he didn't play his last year in high school in Ky. So I think it's pretty safe for me to say you really don't know what his playing style is these days, since your opinion is based on what you saw 4 years ago when he was a 16 or 17 year old kid. Best of luck to him wherever he ends up.
  21. The USA woman got off to a good start in their first game of the World Cup with an impressive 13 to 0 win over Thailand. Yes they won 13 to 0! Very impressive! Also the girl I fell in love with 8 years ago while watching the World Cup Alex Morgan. She had 5 goals today in the match!
  22. I'm curious of how often you have seen Brad Calipari play ball? Have you seen him play the last 3 years? Do you even have any clue what type of game or skill set he has now? He has just spent the last 3 years practicing every single day against future NBA players. He has spent every day the last 3 years getting to workout in one of the top facilities in all of college basketball. So unless you are someone who has gotten the chance to watch him all the time at practice the last 3 years to see how his game has grown or changed. Then I seriously doubt you have any clue at all what type of game or skill set he has now. If you have secretly been at most of UK's practices the last 3 years to see how his game is now. Then I apologize and will take more note of your analysis of players.
  23. That was an amazing win by the Warriors. This could be the game the Raptors look back on and cry if they end up losing this series. They were up 6 with two minutes and had the ball. This is the type of lost we have grown use to Cincinnati teams have, that eventually leads to ultimately a big downward spiral.
