  1. Well then they are moist now, because Applebees and O'Charleys serve liquor and beer. But (last time I was there) it was never sold as gas stations or supermarkets.
  2. Heimbrock is going to be one of the more consistent players on the team. Besides Pauly and Thelen, these guys (as talented as they may be) have a tendency to disappear for quarters at a time. Heimbrock will be a consistent contributor. And, FWIW, this team is deep enough that when one guy is off, someone else is usually on.
  3. When did that change? I heard they were switching to "moist" (beer at gas stations?) but the last few times I've been there, we had to drive back to Nicholasville for the goods. As far as I knew, Boyle County and Garrard County were both dry.
  4. Clyde, you are anything but a hardcore Republican, and you know more about those shows than this very right-dominated board. I have no numbers, but I'd guess about 70% of Fox's viewers watch for the right-leaning spin and incorrectly call it unbiased, and the other 30% watch because they hate what they perceive to be a right-WING bias. In reality, Fox is just like any other news channel (but with much better looking anchors); not close to the center but not close to the wing, either.
  5. Sure am glad that I picked up Lawrence Tynes as my fantasy kicker, I think I will stick with him for a while. NYG Rush D has given up 50 rushes for 338 yards through 2 games...6.76 per rush. Could be a possible concern.
  6. To me, it would come down to Transy or Centre. And that wouldn't be much of a debate, because Transy is a wet campus in a wet county, and Centre is dry. Then again, I'm a student and you are a parent. And I go to UK and its only Monday, so my BAC is technically still above the legal limit, probably. So take my post with a grain of salt.
  7. FWIW, as posted elsewhere, Tom Brady's WR's get a lot of their yards on YAC. If you can hit a guy on the run, or find an open guy with room to run, that is just as effective as a pass 50-yards in the air.
  8. Good win, but it is unfortunate that Carson isn't an elite QB anymore.
  9. Fair enough. I don't know if it is good for a nation to be unselfish. That is on individuals, not government.
  10. Hey, I joined a frat this semester! Beta Alpha Psi, the accounting fraternity! I'd tell you what goes on at our events but, just trust me, it most certainly not BGP appropriate. Let me just say that those T-Accounts can be pretty fun.
  11. Just because politicians make PR moves often doesn't excuse it. I'll continue to point out that this is a move that won't help nearly as much as other moves (such as diarreah medicine) would, and if the "we should help other people" argument is valid, we should spend out money on the most efficient ways, not this. Furthermore, and I'm not saying you are wrong, why is it "necessary?" How is it in our interest? If the point is to keep Americans from getting swine flu, wouldn't giving Americans the vaccine be the best way? BTW, who produced this vaccine? Everyone should keep in mind that, in 1976, the swine flu "epidemic" killed 1 one person, but the vaccine killed 25 people.
  12. Of course it isn't going to happen immediately, but foreign aid, in general, gives foreign government incentives to make conditions worse for their people. Likewise, if you are a foreign government, how are you going to get free vaccines from the United Nations? By not having your own. Furthermore, I'd prefer a reduction in taxes, so that private organizations and charities could more efficiently administer the vaccines than an organization like the WHO. And, FWIW, don't more kids died from diarrhea disorders every 10 hours then people have from Swine Flu over the last few years? If we are REALLY interested in helping save lives, swine flu vaccines is not the way to go. This is a PR move...
  13. The empirical evidence against foreign aid is substantial, but that is for another thread. To my other point- what about the idea that giving these vaccines to these less developed countries encourages them to NOT find their own cures? Are we not simply making these countries more dependent on us? Is that a sustainable practice? We should encourage behavior that makes these countries sustainable on their own, not by being dependent on us. We are the richest, most powerful country in the world, but we can't financially support everyone. This sounds like an argument that the U.S. should vaccinate everyone on God's green earth?
  14. Quick thought: Does this not cause the same moral hazard that bailing out the big banks does? If AIG takes huge risks and fails, we will cover their losses. Similarly, if you are a foreign country, any time a new illness arises, why would you bother to spend money on a cure? The United States will merely give you some. It's the same reason why foreign aid is generally a bad idea. Transferring wealth from the U.S. to corrupt political regimes in other countries doesn't give them any reason to become more economically developed- they receive a financial reward for extreme poverty. If we want to continue to have to financially prop up the rest of the world, then ideas like this are great. If we want other countries to prosper like we do, in the interest of ourselves and them, then we should try to stay away from giving out handouts for being unproductive.
  15. I still don't get the whole fuss over swine flu.
  16. I'll assume this is sarcasm, or else it reeks of an enormous inferiority complex. (I'll wait the comment about how I'm contributing to that "Lexington is perfect" idea)
  17. I was at a few open gyms, but I only saw Brandon Tyler at one of them, and he didn't play much while I was there. As for the whole team, they look fine. Jake Thelen is a force- he's got a great outside shot for his size, but he is too willing to stay on the wing (which may be a necessity considering Coach L's minimalist attitude towards post offense). Max Pauly is an excellent point guard, leader, and distributor. Drives and dishes well. CCH will go as far as those two- beyond them, they have plenty of capable role players.
  18. My first thought, as always, is where in the Constitution does it give the federal government the right to take taxpayer money and use it on vaccines, let alone vaccines for foreigners.
  19. On a side note, are you saying that "he was dealt a bad hand" is a valid excuse or not?
  20. I guess we'll just see. Tebow is taller and bigger than Garrard, and I don't see any indication that Garrard is a better passer or runner than Tebow. We'll see in a few years.
  21. It is funny, but not as funny as Drinking Out of Cups (please say someone knows what that is).
  22. Yes, this was widely discussed last year. My buddies live on the corner of Waller and Nicholasville in the middle of a lot with 15-20 spots. He's going to make bank.
