  1. People are angry about the noon start, but I'm looking forward to kegs and eggs! Oh yeah, and the game, too. UK 31 UL 13
  2. A few: Pick 1: Schaub @ TENN, Palmer @ GB Pick 2: LT vs BALT, Cadillac @ Buffalo, K. Smith vs. MINN. (Cadillac is predicted to score 2x as much as either of them according to CBSSportsline)
  3. I do have to admit that I can empathize with this statement. Clyde, while I know you said "not for this thread", it is sad that, as a country, when someone says "you lie" the issue is not discussing the merits of his claim "you lie", but instead whether or not he is a racist or his pedigree in immigration. I understand that a little credence should be weighed in regards to Wilson's credentials, but it just seems far removed from the issue.
  4. The more I think about it- does anyone here think that David Garrard can do anything that Tim Tebow can't?
  5. Good points, and I appreciate the discussion. I guess I just view the Constitution from a very literal, textualist viewpoint, and would prefer if each branch of the federal government performed the duties specifically assigned to them.
  6. The term "liberal" ALWAYS bothered me, as liberal used to stand for economic freedom (see Friedman, Hayek, Mises, etc.) So I'll gladly let our left-leaning brothers call themselves progressive. I don't why you want to be- everytime I hear progressive, I think of that incredibly annoying girl from Progressive insurance commercials.
  7. Who knows. We have little more insight into Kanye's mind then we do in Rep. Wilson's. It is hypocritical to assume racism in either case and not in the other; however, I see no reason to assume that either case was fueled by racism. Once again, perhaps it is my youth, but I don't see everything as a black/white issue.
  8. As an accounting major, I thought T-Swift was the hippest name. I'm behind on the times a bit....
  9. Not directed at specifically at you, and if anyone else felt the same way let me know, but... Perhaps it will be refreshing for some to know that when I saw the T-Swift/Kanye thing and when I heard about Rep. Wilson's comment, racism was not anywhere on my mind about either. Is this a generational thing? Is it a result of talking heads? Is it a result of a select minority of each race that benefits from keeping racism alive? Am I off-base?

    Glee

I hear it is hilarious but I haven't seen it, and probably won't
  11. I think the only thing that most politicians are better at than lying is digging their own graves.
  12. I didn't claim one way or other whether or not the President was lying. Let me put it this way- suppose I (incorrectly) heard that my African-American friend took my girlfriend out on a date. I would be angry with him, and it would have been because he took my girlfriend out on a date, not because he is an African-American. Just because I believed incorrectly, that does not mean I'm a racist. This comment is solely in response to your comment, "Frustration? How so?" I'm not encouraging Rep. Wilson's actions (or even his beliefs) but explaining how he can be frustrated even if he's wrong.
  13. If you don't mind me asking, what do you get from defending fmr. President Bush? It doesn't help build a case against President Obama, and (from what I've gathered from your posts), I don't think you were the biggest Bush fan anyways. Irrational hatred for Bush is going to exist no matter what, in the same manner that irrational hatred for President Obama exists. Both inherited messes and both did things that are bad for our country (IMO). I defend neither.
  14. I'm going to try to answer this delicately to keep from getting you fired up. I think that he is frustrated at what he believes were lies from our President regarding the health care bill. This is not an excuse for his behavior or an indication on whether Rep. Wilson was right or wrong in the idea that President Obama is lying, just an explanation of what he was frustrated about- what he perceived to be lies. If his perception is wrong (which will boil down to a matter of opinion, most likely) then that doesn't make him a racist.
  15. Agreed. That's a low blow for a journalist to publicize off-the-record comments. But I agree with President Obama as well.
  16. True, but about every single one of us here are too big of cowards to tell Ridge Wilson that to his face, so instead we say it on a message board.
  17. On UK's campus? Was it at night or in the day?
  18. Add Tim Pawlenty (Governor of Minnesota) to my list of possible GOP candidates I can support, he has drawn a lot of flack for his comment about asserting the 10th Amendment is response to some of the federal governments tactics, but I love it: “What I was trying to convey is that we have an important amendment in the U.S. Constitution and we should at least have the discussion. Not seceding from the union, not filing lawsuits, but at least some awareness that the Tenth Amendment exists.”
  19. "And next time you mention Pac, Biggie, or Jay-Z don't forget Weezy baby!" Boondock you can enter your vomit smiley, being Jim Schue Jr. I'm sure you want to.
