  6. Lone Oak led 21-14 going into the fourth quarter, but a big interception on a screen pass inside the 5 was returned for a touchdown that gave Christian the lead. Lone Oak's defense seemed to wear down a little in the fourth quarter, and Christian found something they could attack ... Christian had more than 100 yards on the ground in the last quarter and about 80 before that. Christian had three turnovers, all fumbles, and Lone Oak had two. Turned out to be a closer game than some people expected. Lone Oak is playing several underclassmen and had a freshman run one in for a TD and a sophomore run a kickoff back for a TD. A freshman corner bit when Christian's QB scrambled and got burnt on a long TD pass.
  7. The Tilghman-Lone Oak game was an anomaly, given that Lone Oak lost two of their best players two days before the game and all the publicity that went with it. Central "squeaked by" a team that is ranked in the 6A polls and lost by three points to Manual. I guess I'm more impressed by that than you are.
  8. Tilghman isn't the 3A favorite ... that title belongs to Central. Tilghman should be get to the semifinals, and then either Central or Bell County would have to come to Paducah.
  9. Tilghman had several starters out ... a couple of linebackers, the quarterback and another pretty good athlete that plays on both offense and defense.
  10. The Lone Oak-Tilghman was an anomaly. Lone Oak lost two key players two days before the game and had to deal with all the attention that came with it. Then, once things started to go bad, everything snowballed on them. Lone Oak has had three weeks to regroup and work on some things, and it's showing. They may still be a factor in 4A in the west before the season is done, but there are a lot of capable teams standing in their way.

  13. Yes, but the kid is from New York and the story comes from a newspaper up there. My guess is that he is accustomed to starting school around Labor Day.
  14. I'm guessing that school doesn't begin up there until after Labor Day. Interesting details on the circumstances of his move.

  17. Lone Oak has to keep the score down ... they can't beat the Colonels in a shootout.

  20. Well, if this "super class" idea is as good an option as some here seem to think, them we should have more than two schools in 5A ...
  21. Your point isn't valid. Ballard, Butler and Manual (the programs you mention) don't enjoy the enrollment advantage that Trinity and St. Xavier do, and after the two Catholic behemoths, there is plenty of parity in 6A ... much as there was in 4A before the changes in 2007. I'm tired of hearing the "work harder" argument. Trinity and St. Xavier enjoy some advantages that no other schools in the big class don't ... if you choose not to acknowledge that, it's not our problem.
