The Scribe Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 The reigning News Player of the Year in boys basketball may not be playing his senior season in Western New York. Jaysean Paige, who helped lead Jamestown to the state championship game in Class AA as a junior last season, is currently living in Kentucky. Paige told The Buffalo News via telephone from Hazard, Ky., Wednesday night that he "is still in the decision-making process" as to where he will attend school for his senior year. Internet reports have stated that Paige has transferred to Perry Country Central High School in Hazard, a town of about 5,000 located in Perry County, home to about 30,000 in the eastern end of the state. When asked about those reports, Paige said, "A lot of people say a lot of things." STORY LINK
Clyde Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Still deciding? A month into the school year? Beautiful.
westsider Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Still deciding? A month into the school year? Beautiful.I'm guessing that school doesn't begin up there until after Labor Day. Interesting details on the circumstances of his move.
Clyde Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 I'm guessing that school doesn't begin up there until after Labor Day. Up there? He's in Hazard, right?
Wireman Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 It's very lucky that his mom got a job in a town where he has strong connections through summer basketball. I guess everyone wins the lottery.
westsider Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Up there? He's in Hazard, right?Yes, but the kid is from New York and the story comes from a newspaper up there. My guess is that he is accustomed to starting school around Labor Day.
sportsfan41 Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Hmmmm I don't see him sticking around KY. If so I'm convinced he moved because Coach Cal wasn't recruiting him and he figured he'd have to if the kid was in his own back yard.
Qryche11 Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 This stinks worse than catfish guts on a 98 degree day. I'm sorry but who transplants from NY to Hazard KY for work. Where has moment been the past 4 yrs and suddenly she is the driving force behind the move? ID like to know who the mastermind in KY is that has him even close to enrolling.
Clyde Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Yes, but the kid is from New York and the story comes from a newspaper up there. My guess is that he is accustomed to starting school around Labor Day. "Sorry, teach, I'm accustomed to starting school around Labor Day. What did I miss?"
hoops5 Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 "Sorry, teach, I'm accustomed to starting school around Labor Day. What did I miss?" "Yer not from 'round these parts, are ya?"
Clyde Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 He has officially enrolled. KHSAA has not determined his eligibility.
Wireman Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 I talked to a college coach today and he says this kid is the real deal. He'll be a big time player for PCC if he's eligible.
nikeman49 Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Total rumor mill running around again!!!!
