I picked GC to win this one, but it's tough to discount the Maynard factor. He will definitley want to get a win over the Musketeers. I'm sure he will help to motivate these Ram players to give everything they have in this one. This should really be one of the better contests in the area.

Thomas still hesitates before contact. I noticed it last week on several of his running plays. If a coach could just somehow explain or demonstrate to him that he would be much better off to "give the hit" instead of "take the hit". There would also be considerable extra yardage on each play for him.

Plus, it helps to reinforce to the players that a 15 yrd penalty at a critical point in the game can swing momentum to the other side of the ball. It seems personal fouls are being called much more often. Our biggest problem has been the "late hit" penalty this year. Devils have to be careful on the sideline tackels especially.

I think if the Tomcats could have somehow stopped the "Big Boy", they win this game. But what do you do to rein in that kind of a body on the goal line. He was some kind of weapon and Ashland simply didn't have an answer for him. Kudos to MC for the creative backfield.

Get the ball to the Bonner kid early and often and Ashland should be able to win this one.

The Ashland program knows exactly what it gets with Dicky Martin in the booth on Friday nights. No one else in this area is such a lightning rod with there play-by-play. I for one enjoy it. It's refreshing. He's the first one to point out when the team and or coaching staff is not up to par. He's the first one to rip into an officiating crew that doesn't quite meet his standards. He also can go off on tangents just like last night regarding Bill H. It's classic Dicky.

Great game! This Ashland team played with a whole lot more intensity than last week against Ironton. The rivalry obviously still is strong at least for the students and players, if not the fans. I was not really surprised by the low Ashland turnout. There just does not seem to be the same fervor over Tomcat football this season. I was really impressed with the Bonner kid. He changed the complexion of the game along with Thomas in the backfield. I thought they should have gone to Bonner more than they did. However, Morris must have made adjustments because our coverage was much better in the second half. Dicky's mike was on much during the dead air breaks and he obviously didn't realize it. He made several comments about the the center missing the snap counts. At one point he said it was just "#%@!" poor coaching to have it happen in the fourth week of the season. Russell showed a lot of confidence on that last drive. All in all, it was a very good test for this team and it will pay dividends later in the season when we need to come back to win a game. Hope Mitchell shakes off the fumble. I think Ivan had him on ice for most of the game after that incident. The one thing Ivan can't stand is a fumble - always protect the football, period. Kicking game was great as Dolly seems to be getting comfortable back there.

I'm looking forward to listening to Dickie call this game tonite. When the scoreboard starts blinking like a pinball machine, he will no doubt have an opinion about the reason why. And he always makes it entertaining!

I'm wondering what kind of crowd will turn out for Ashland. There just does not seem to be much interest on this board for this particular game from the Tomcat Nation.

Yeah, so far this year's Ashland Tomcats pale in comparison to the team that went to triple OT. And I don't think the AD can cancel for weather...

The rival factor does cloud this one for me. The easy answer is that Russell pounds Ashland, but I remember how much emotion the Ashland team played us with last year. Not to mention the frenzy of the student fans. There will probably be more to this game than just a cut and dry trip to the proverbial woodshed.

I believe Ashland will give their best effort thus far this season against the Devils. But I really don't think their defense can stop Ivan and his stable of backs. Look for Tyler Jones to make big plays throughout the game. I think the bootleg will be deadly if Tomcats can't stop it. Our line play should be superior as well. But again, this is Russell vs Ashland and anything can indeed happen.

How was the kicking game tonite?
