Another clinic.

Russell is not a team that will score points in bunches. They sustain drives and use alot of clock. They really dominated Ashland for three quarters but did not put them away. The line play has been very good but the big plays have been few. Woody Hayes would love this team.

 

East Carter had been playing good defense but seem to be a little turnover prone and inconsistant on offense.

I see East Carter up for this game, and I think they will stay in the game. Both Russell and East Carter play basically the same "grind it out" offense. But, Russell will be to much for East.

Russell will come out on top of this one. Should be a hard fought game from the kickoff until the last whistle is blown.

Russell will want to make a statement in a district game vs. an opponent that Mason County dominated last week. Russell will grind it out to a convincing win; 38-3.

I believe Mason has alot more team speed than Russell. Russell is a different kind of football team. I see Russell winning this one, but much closer than the Mason/East game.

I think you will be suprised by Russell's team speed. They don't have the big playmaker at RB they have had the past few years. That guy is the QB. But they do have a backfield full of good running backs. Abrams and Bates have gotten better each week and have good but not great speed. Both have been running very hard.

 

Where Russell's team speed is very good is along the front line. Offensive line moves well. Defensive line moves well. Linebackers move and hit very well.

 

I have not seen Mason yet this year but from what I have heard and read they sound very similar.

 

You are right though. Russell has been a grind it out team. They are still averaging 38.75 ppg. Russell could have scored more against Ashland IMO. The passing game would have been there all night they way Ashland had to stack the middle trying to stop the run. Coach McGlone chose to keep on the ground and grind it out instead of allowing Carter and Thomas a chance to make big plays.

I am not saying Russell doesn't have good speed. After watching East play Boyd, Fairview, and Raceland, Mason just played in a whole other gear. Their skill players are very solid, but their overall team strength and speed was very impressive.

Good observations. But, I think Russell wins this one pretty easily.

Is the Jones kid playing?????

I think Russell wins by 30 or more.

I'man East fan but realisticly Russell completely dominates East, as shown last week some teams never seam to get to the same level as schools with the winning traditions.
