  1. Well, difficulty of district games. I am just looking at the teams that Mayfield and Beechwood have to beat to get out of their respective districts, thats all. Bellvue is the only team I know much about in Beechwoods district, but Fulton City is returning quite a bit this year and so is Crittenden county and Fulton County isn't too shabby in Mayfield's district. I ain't saying its a ton better but it appears slightly better.
  2. Its really tough for Beechwood folks to know anything about Mayfield and vice-versa. But from looking at the districts that these two teams are in, I would give the edge to Mayfield's district now with the new realignment.
  3. Yeah, I get the feeling that a lot of Beechwood fans think that little ol Mayfield should just pack their stuff up and go home, but its all good, that kind of talk really gets some kids fired up and thats what they need come playoff time.
  4. I didn't think they wore their game jerseys in a scrimmage, but these look like game jerseys.
  5. Is rump in these pictures? Is he the #40 something?
  6. I am really sorry to hear this, I go to church with Pat's family and I know we will be keeping all of them in our prayers.
  7. I don't see how 1A is going to shrink anytime soon, now that 1A looks more attractive to these smaller schools that weren't playing before that are playing this season. I think we'll see more of that as the years go on.
  8. Kind of a general question isn't it? If we're talking about talent in general, the bigger schools should win easily. But if we're talking about overall acheivement, that could be a different story.
  9. Thats what I hope, I just hope they get to come in with a 1st string line instead of a second string line. Or coach could substitute a few of the 1st stringers with some second stringers to give them a rest, but a freshman QB needs protection to give him time to make decisions.
  10. Hey, do any of you Mayfield guys know the time of the Christian county scrimmage next Friday?
  11. So is Mayfield going with more of a mix-match of QB's this year? I think it could work out well myself, with the Guhy kid coming in and getting in that rotation and getting some experience.
  12. I don't know if I agree that pushing it back a week is necessarily a good move. Some smaller 1A schools have a lot of kids that play both football and basketball and this is cutting into basketball bigtime.
  13. This should make the Mayfield-Tilghman rivalry just that much sweeter,
  14. This is kinda off topic, but I took my son to Mayfield Elementary kindergarten today and I went to his class and I asked one of his classmates what his name was and his mom said "Derrick Parrot", lol, its his son.
  15. Figures, it is starting to seem like every year one of the backs gets hurt bad, I hope this isn't a Trevarthen injury. Are the fulton city boys coming or not?
  16. You didn't know? McCracken schools consolidated and turned Tilghman in to a private school,
  17. Who is the richardson kid? Is he the receiver I was hearing about in Middle school? I have heard a lot about the guhy kid, is he the real deal?
  18. Man, what you are saying about the Noonan Kid is giving me chills thinking about it, the incoming talent this year is going to be so much fun to watch. I'm not the type to just watch Mayfield football on just the good years, I watch it every game, every season, but when a class like this comes along, it gets really exciting, at least to me, :walk:
  19. He's related somehow, not sure exactly. I was told that this boy has his head on his shoulders and keeps good grades, again, this is hearsay, I too would like to know as much as I can, so anybody in the know fill us in, :thumb:
  20. I am not totally informed on the young man, but I believe that he is more of a RB type, I haven't heard anything about him on defense. They call him "stump" I believe and I heard he is extremely hard to bring down and very fast, hopefully somebody can fill us in on his actual speed. I know that one of the Middle school coaches said he is one of the best he's seen and that says a lot since he has coached all the ones you just mentioned.
  21. Its so hard to say this early that Mayfield is "all that" at this point. So much stuff happens to the team as the season goes on with injuries, players coming up and the usual 2 to 3 players that come out of nowhere. We had andy Trevarthen missing most season and our QB picked up a lot of that slack. Its just hard to tell for me until we hit some of the bigger games.
  22. I hope that Mayfield and Beechwood can have a classy rivalry in the coming years at least in the current alignment. We have enjoyed all our years going to Danville and having Danville coming to Mayfield and I hope we can get that started with these two teams, :thumb:
  23. It should be a battle between Mayfield and Beechwood should the cards play out that way. I like what I am seeing with the freshman class coming into Mayfield, should provide a ton of offensive weapons as the year progresses. I look to some key games for Mayfield to determine how this game will go, particularly Paducah Tilghman, Graves County and Marshall County, all teams that I believe would give Beechwood a very solid game.
  24. When I sit and think about it, I think that the East-West game could be competitive. I would rather see the instate game myself than KY vs. some other state.
  25. An East-West game would be interesting, but I think the bulk of the talent lies on the east side of the state, so I would think that the East would pretty much own this game.
