The Scribe
I've talked to several high school football coaches who are thankful for the extra week of practice due to the extreme heat we've endured this week. The KHSAA bumped back the start date of the season a week for this reason. I never understood why the football season starts later and the school year starts earlier. Do they have a sling psycrometer on the buses in the afternoon for the rides home?
bugatti
In this regard, I do believe the KHSAA made a good move.
westsider
It may be the only good football-related decision the KHSAA has made in the last two years.

Sandman32
In this regard, I do believe the KHSAA made a good move. I agree, especially for a slow starting team like Dixie. We can work miracles with that extra week. jk
UKBLUE1964
Oh stop, the six class move is a good one too.    The benefits of this that I see is Kentucky starts their season the same week as border states such as: Ohio and West Virginia. I am sure the KHSAA didn't read the Farmer's Almanac to see that it would be HOT!! during August.
GoBigRed
I don't know if I agree that pushing it back a week is necessarily a good move. Some smaller 1A schools have a lot of kids that play both football and basketball and this is cutting into basketball bigtime.
NCC06
Agree i do not know how hot it will be in a couple weeks... but NCC has been hampered by this really bad in the last couple of years... If a team makes a deep run into the playoffs then the basketball teams first half of the season is shot

It was well over 110 degrees inside my truck a couple days ago according to the onboard thermometer its not any cooler on a buss and some kids are on a bus over an hour.
