We'll just have to disagree on who and how this award is handed out. If they never hand it out again would be just fine with me because one player couldn't have done more to win it than Brandon did. If anyone has anywhere close to the run that Brandon and Boyle Co. did and doesn't have a Mr. Football this forum won't hold the number of posts that will be about it. I'm done, but one last thing from me I how both players do well for their respected college and wish nothing but great success for both. I believe both young men are great football players and I hope whatever they decide to do in life they continue with the way they played this game.

Again, it's Mr. Football award. To me this means how well you perform, what impact you have on your team and how well your team plays with you on it. Under Brandon leadership they win 2 State Titles and 1 Runner up, have an undefeated season, and a one loss season during a three year run. If Pulley was such a star on defense how does Brandon's offense hang 55 points on Hoptown in the game that sent Boyle Co. to the State Championship game? Better QB, better leader! Brandon did scramble when he had to but I'm sure Curtis had some better runs but he didn't lead his team through the playoffs as far as Brandon did for the three years he was at QB. IMO it wasn't a contest who was a better player and leader for each ones respected teams.

In your opinion. If you want to elabrate I would like to hear it. In head to head match up's Brandon won both games and one of those games were deep in the playoffs. (55-28 Boyle Co.) Hoptown never won a State Title while Pulley was there. In the years 01 thru 04 (Grad years 02 thur 05)Hoptown never beat Boyle. Brandon lead his squad for three seasons and won 2 State Titles and 1 Runner up Title. Hoptown won the Regional Title twice but lost in the game before the Championship. Pulley may have been a very good player at Hoptown and set some school records but to follow in the footprints left at Boyle Co. after 3 State titles to win 2 more and to get to the final your last and senior year is insane. Now make your case for Curtis.

For me this is the one that stands out the most. IMO they shouldn't even vote for a Mr. Football after not giving it to Brandon. There isn't no ryme or reason for not voting Brandon over Curtis. Both were outstanding players and each deserved reconition but Brandon did everything you could do to win this award except lead his team to a THIRD STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!! They went to the title game just lost to none other than 16 time state champion Highlands!!

You maybe right about the sun thing. Any ways keep the passion for football alive a Southwestern I know I did for several years and you know if I was still close I'd be there continuing.

Be kind of hard with my sign on name. If your going to question everyone that doesn't believe your going to win every time then my friend you will have to quit your job and stay on here. I've been a member here for several years and was defending and repesenting Southwestern Football long before you. I'm a fan of football and an still a fan of all the local teams but obvious a Southwestern supporter. It's the passion for football that I love. Southwestern has that and so do their fans. When you have 500 to 600 people show up at an away scrimmage game and are questioning the ref's calls that's passion for the program. I hope the Warriors continue with their winning ways and if I do get a chance to see them play this season I wouldn't miss it. I'm trying right now to see if I can stay over an extra day in Louisville after my son's game on Thursday and drive down just to see the Warriors play. Your teams play on the field will speak louder than anything else. GO WARRIOS

AJG, gotta love the SW fan base. You give a logical answer and still isn't enough. Clam down SW fans and let your play on the field speak for itself. I alway kinda liked being the underdog team with something to prove. Win or Lose it going to be a good one for everyone involved but remember fans and that includes all fans it's hard to win them all. Play hard and play with respect and in the end you'll be a winner. God really must love football to put such a passion in everyone about this sport. SW & The Rock you really couldn't get much better IMO not everyones I'm sure. It's going to a fun season.

^ With this I would agree!! Football is and will forever be a game that is played, won and loss on the field. Great players are not born they are made. Wins and Losses will remain with you FOREVER!! Just being part of some of the best games is all you'll remember later on and realize that it was the greatest time in your life.

What would you consider a competitive season? 5-6 mark and one playoff win? 7-4 and two playoff wins? Or a winning record and no playoff wins? Will they compete sure, but winning won't be easy. It's tough to tell how strong they'll be because of senior grads and playing more competitive teams. I got to see them last season pre-season against Somerset. They had some really fast kids and quickness that was hard to match but this season they will face teams with the same abilities. I can't wait to bring this thread to the top after week 11 of the season. Just isn't going to happen. Four of the strongest teams in the state are in 5A. They are usually in the state top ten. No way Mercer Co. runs the table to the state championship game this season.

This is a award that they shouldn't even hand out anymore as far as I care. If a kid that plays on a State Championship team for three years and runner up the fourth. Leads his team at QB for three years and wins the trophy twice and runner up his senior year. Hands out a thumping on the team in the playoffs of the kid that wins the Award. To me there isn't any reason at all of how this award is voted on. This kid also played on defense as well at LB or strong safety. The year 2004! I'm not saying that Curtis Pulley wasn't a very good high school player just that another kid had done everything you could possibly do to win this award and didn't. Boyle County's Brandon Smith. Ask all the people that saw Boyle Co. play those 3 years he lead his team 15 games a season.

Happens all the time........! UK following someone else on instate kids. I know that Coach Chuck Smith is trying to change that. Got to recurit kids in state and I know Kentucky high school coaches know talent and let them know. No reason for this to happen.

And people wonder why they keep the media and people in the dark about things. It's hard to change jobs after you have been at one for a long time, I should know. I just changed jobs after being at my old one for 17 years. Confort sets in after a while and change is sometimes scary but I have to agree with if you do make the jump then jump. Don't do it with a bunge cord wraped around your waist. LN as often I agree with you, do your research on your new job and make sure it's what you want because after you make the commitment to your new job it's to late to back out then. OLD SCHOOL, you bet. But you can bet the next job I apply for they will know that if they hire me they will be getting me and not wasting time in waiting to see if I stay. About the media, somethings are just better left unknown because I could have went back to my old job and not very many people would have known unlike these coaching situations.

Great story!! I remember a teacher of mine long ago making a statement that I have never forgotten. Even though she thought I wasn't listening. Her quote was " Education is the KEY that unlocks ALL doors." I don't believe we have a better example than this one.

Southwestern had no answer for #32. Super can you give us some info on this kid and who's looking at him for college ball. He's a player now.
