13th Region District Tournaments
Didn't realize her average was that high, very impressive against the schedule they've played. Heard Harlan Co beat Bell 6-4 tonight. Disappointing season for Bell, coming off a 18-11 season and adding all of that young talent with a "Hall of Fame" coach that was supposed to lead them to the promised land this year. Too much talk and not enough coaching... So Harlan Co and Middlesboro is the only game left, right?

13th Region District Tournaments
Just curious to get details on the other districts. I watched Corbin beat SL tonight in a great game. Brock got a lot of pop-ups and some great D. Shortstop made a fine play to end the game. I heard Pineville upset Knox Central in that final, so anyone got details of that game or any of the other districts????

13th Region Softball Tournament
I say North. Just watched Corbin beat South in the district and Corbin looked very good. Brock pitched a great game, but in the end, I think North will be playing in J-town. LOL, a district winner will get to play SL right off the bat, what a reward for winning your district!!!!!

Anderson County 35 Bell County 2
Wow, you're so defensive!!! There's a big difference in 16 or 17-0 and 35 to something. A lot of teams don't score 35 RUNS in a week, let alone 5 innings. When did AC start holding runners and quit stealing??? Reckon almost everyone pitched for Bell. Also must agree with getting a bigger lead or getting in rundowns. From what I've heard they were stuck in the 4th inning forever, if so, then why not just give up a few outs, have a 15 or 18 run lead, whatever, get 3 outs and go to the house??? I understand getting your kids in and everything, but there comes a point where you just do the right thing...

North Laurel 14 Corbin 0
HMMM..."so-called tear", but yet you compliment them on the 6-0 run and the 44-0 margin of victory over those opponents, plus raise them to #3 in your rankings. I'd say that means you agreed that they played well also. Still say it was a tear, lol. Anxious to see your rankings tomorrow, mine: 1. North, 2. South, 3. Corbin, 4. Middlesboro, 5. W'burg/Clay.

South Laurel Job?
Any news or rumors????

North Laurel 14 Corbin 0
Least we agree North, right now, is the best. As far as Middlesboro goes, outside of North, they're the most consistent in the region now. You're right about the competition being less than stellar. But they have to play district games and the All "A" games. Still think it was impressive to shut out HC, W'burg, and Lee. FYI, Powers had 18 K's in the no-hitter against Lee.

North Laurel 14 Corbin 0
Wow, really surprising. After you get past North and South the 13th is kinda screwed up right now. Saw two weeks ago, Corbin lost to W'burg on a Tuesday, same day Harlan beat KC by several. On Thursday W'burg run-ruled Harlan in 5. But then Friday, KC beat W'burg 2-0. All this time, M'boro has went on a tear with six straight shutouts. Corbin who lost to W'burg is still the only team that has scored on them. The NL Corbin score should remind us that the GAP is as big as ever between the Laurels and everyone else in the 13th...for now...

Congratulations Coach Jackie McCloud!
Congratulations Coach!!!! McCloud is one of the most consistent coaches in the state. Year in and year out, his kids play their tails off and are always competitive. He makes it about the kids, not about himself, a lot of coaches should learn from his example.

South Laurel Job?
I agree with the quote about a job being "created" or "opened". Just have a tough time seeing Laurel Co. having money problems, especially if this was basketball.

South Laurel Job?
Any more names being tossed around for the job?

Williamsburg 4 Corbin 3
To me, it looked as if Hill had picked up a little from last season. She had weird movement on some pitches. Wasn't a curve or screwball, least it didn't appear to be. Kinda tailed away from rh batters. Gaines is tough. What is the back problem? Muscle, spasms or something else????

Williamsburg 4 Corbin 3
I agree, if you don't get NL this year, it could be a long time. Watched Hill from Corbin pitch against M'boro. She pitched very well, kept their timing off the entire game. Like B.I. stated, Hart will have them hitting on all cylinders come mid-May. He has a nice 1-2 punch in Hill and Brock.

South Laurel Job?
From the outside looking in, it's tough to believe that they have budget problems and can't make something happen if the right guy applied.

B.I. thanks for the info, I only know a few of their players info. I was thinking the pitchers were jr's, but they may have started as 8th graders, time gets away so quick anymore. Les, you're right I did say it was a "fluke", I also went on to say "I stand corrected" and think even apologized for being wrong. Lighten up!!! As far as being wrong about W'burg's schedule I looked at it over the weekend, not sure when. I had heard they played SL close, but the person who told me couldn't remember the score. At that time, there were only 3 losses up, believe it or not, I can count. I may have to use my fingers and toes, but I still have them all so I can get to 3 pretty easily.

Are you sensitive about Corbin softball or just anyone who disagrees with you? Again, as before, I didn't mean anything negative at all. I'm not sure what you're so touchy about. When I referred to the SL win as a fluke, I was basing it on incorrect information about who played. If SL had all of it's starters playing that game than it's a good win, just like W'burg had over Corbin y'day. As far as graduation, losing a 1st baseman isn't that big of a deal, shortstop is a little more important. But the catcher is very important, especially if catchers call pitches. From what I saw against M'boro, the 1st baseman is fine, made a couple of nice scoops. The catcher done a fine job as well, good arm, blocks the plate well, etc... Now at short, losing Rogers is very significant. They lost a excellent player for sure. But I must admit, her replacement (Schirar, sorry if I butchered the spelling) done a nice job. Good arm, nice swing, smooth hands. She's not a Mikah Rogers, but she does a fine job. W'burg lost 2 or 3 also didn't they? I know the Sears kid that played CF signed with Cumberland or Union and I think they lost 2 more. If I ruffled your feathers, I didn't mean to. You just gotta agree that we disagree on some stuff, LOL!!! But, remember, I'm right!!!!!!!!!!!

And I'm still high on HC. Remember, I'm also high on M'boro as well, put both of them right behind Corbin. When I looked at W'burg's record a score was missing, that's why I had them with only 3 losses. Not sure about "how can you give a team a lot of credit" when they lose to SL close and another loss is to NL. As far as "Corbin will be fine", I agree. But rankings are about now, not the end of the season. Corbin looked exceptional against M'boro, while M'boro's defense killed them, I was told that HC's defense was horrible against M'boro, then Powers (M'boro) no-hits a good Lee High Va. team with a 18 K performance. I expect a lot of odd scores early in the season, especially with inconsistent play due to weather. But surprised Corbin wasn't up for this since it was a district game. How young is Corbin? I know they lost 3 srs last year.

Williamsburg 4 Corbin 3
As I stated in another thread, W'burg, imo, was overlooked by a lot and not given any credit since they started 0-3. Ellis is doing a great job. I had Corbin ranked a solid #3, but now.... I'd still like details if anyone was there.

Just saw the score on the KHSAA site, anyone have details???

0-2 Pitches
It depends on a lot of stuff. Batter's ability, pitcher's dominance, score, past success, there's no clear answer without more info. Personally, I'd put it in their eyes. No change-up either. Too many batters look for it on 0-2.

South Laurel Job?
Wonder if the HC from Georgia is the one who was hc at Whitley for about a month and left for Ga.??? It's a long-shot, but possible... I agree that they need to fill this ASAP. Seemed like they spun their wheels a little with the NL job before filling it. They don't have the luxury of time on this one, or at least not in my opinion.

South Laurel Job?
Who are the coordinators? Who are the other 2 or 3? If you can't give names on the others, can you give connections or current jobs???

South Laurel Job?
Who are some of the people rumored to be in the running? Is there a candidate head and shoulders above the others that they like?

2008 State Champion Rings
Saw a picture on the MDN website of Bell players wearing their rings. Couldn't tell much about it from the pic though.

Like you, I have no preference either, but think M'boro was more consistent over the long run. Powell built a great program and is returning to get it back where it was before his "retirement". Understand he has a lot of young talent to work with. Don't get me wrong, Morris did great, but M'boro stretched their success into the late 90's and whatever you want to call the first few years of the 21st century, LOL!!!!
