When fastpitch softball pitchers get an 0-2 count on a batter, do you think you set them up and try to get them to fish for something in their eyes or low and off the plate? Or do you go right at them?

For most pitchers, you make them fish.

 

For dominant pitchers, finish the batter.

I would think most would try to make them fish on an 0-2 because you wouldn't want to intentionally give them something in the strike zone that they could hit. Hitters are told to swing at whatever is close when having 2 strikes, so in a pitcher's mentality, I would definitely think fish.

It depends on a lot of stuff. Batter's ability, pitcher's dominance, score, past success, there's no clear answer without more info. Personally, I'd put it in their eyes. No change-up either. Too many batters look for it on 0-2.

Foot + outside. 0-2 the bat shouldn't reach the ball. I see too many hard hits with this count. We would make our pitchers run 4 poles after the game if they gave up a hit on 0-2.
