So, who you got? I will have to go with either:

 

North Laurel or South Laurel

 

No surprise here. North Laurel has gone 8-2 versus the current coaches poll top 25 with several wins over teams in the 'also recieved votes' in the coaches poll. South Laurel is 3-2 versus the current coaches poll top 25 also with several wins over teams in the 'also received votes' category. Since moving to the 13th region, one of these teams has won the region every year. It will be interesting to see if we could have a surprise team step up and earn a trip to the state tournament.

I say North. Just watched Corbin beat South in the district and Corbin looked very good. Brock pitched a great game, but in the end, I think North will be playing in J-town. LOL, a district winner will get to play SL right off the bat, what a reward for winning your district!!!!!

Watch out for Corbin. I've said this all year. Coach Hart has his team firing on all cylinders right now. North won't be playing in J'town, North will be playing in Owensboro at Jack Fisher Park, that's where the state tournament is played.

I agree, Corbin is definitely clicking, but North is still North. My mistake on the site, I thought J-town had it again this year and Owensboro got it back next year. Guess it was just wishful thinking, J-town is a much better place IMO.

Jeffersontown didn't have it last year. And, J'town is not the better place IMO and many of the coaches I've talked to. Let's see, they play on grass infields there .... ummmm, definitely not suited for state tourney play.

Yea I know, it was at Jack Fisher Park in O'boro. Been going since 97 I think. It was at Sky View in 06 and 07. Wasn't talking about the fields, just like J-town's location. Better accomodations, more to do and easier drive. But again, just my preference

Yeah, I'm sure the coaches and players would take better accomodations and the easier drive any day than playing on a regular dirt infield.

Actually, I believe the coaches are the ones who voted to play the state tourney at Jack Fisher Park due to the fact that they play on actual softball fields with dirt infields. The coaches wanted their kids to play the state tourney on the same type of field they play on throughout the season. Sky view is a nice place and a shorter drive for many, but the dirt infields won out.

I'm not sure how they select it. Used to it was based heavily on input from the softball advisory committee, made up mostly of coaches. Of course other things went into it also, but then-asst. commissioner Boucher listened closely to the advisory committees of the sports he was over. That only makes sense that they want to play it on dirt, as they've played almost all of their games. I still remember when almost everyone had grass back in the mid 90's. LOL, the region was played on grass at Cawood in 2000. They cut base paths out on the Cawood baseball field because the softball field was in too bad of shape
