  1. If you inherit a team that finished 2nd in the State, and you don't make it out of the region is that success? Then you follow that up with 13-17 and a first round District loss.
  2. Jimmy's and Joes are the reason a program has the record attached...
  3. Seeing them knocked out of the Tournament in the first round of Districts got me thinking, "When was the last time a Notre Dame basketball team completed the season with a losing record. It took considerable time to come up with the answer as it's been quite a while.... 1998-1999. To finish second in state two years ago, to falling all the way to 13-17 is a huge leap. I know somebodies gonna say they play a tough schedule, but I would bet if you checked closely that could be said about there schedule every season. Here's the results of their seasons the past 10 years. 22-9 2014 Coach Foust (Current Coach) 29-6 2013 Coach Levandusky 25-6 2012 Coach Levandusky 19-9 2011 Coach Levandusky 16-14 2010 Coach Levandusky 20-12 2009 Coach Darpel 20-11 2008 Coach Darpel 29-5 2007 Coach Darpel 24-9 2006 Coach Darpel 21-10 2005 Coach Darpel
  4. Leah Metzger is the top incoming freshman IMO. Played varsity for Dixie the last two years, Made NKGVCA Divison 1 Honorable Mention as a 7th grader, NKGVCA Division 1 2nd Team as an 8th Grader. TEAM USA HP Select Division National A1 Team and Top 42 Holiday Camp the past two years. Plays OH / DS / S.
  5. I think NDA may have had a few more seniors than that, but the Junior class is so strong that you won't notice. NDA and no one is close after that. Morgan will be a Frosh/JV player her first year at NDA.
  6. Ahhh the semantics of the recruiting process. Yes, that is what I meant. Committing in my mind equates erroneously to a "signed letter of intent", because everyone knows that if you sign a letter of intent to a specific college you are then committed to that school. But on the other hand if you only verbally commit to the same school, you can change your mind at any time and so can the college/university. Therefore Committing isn't being committed, but signing is.
  7. Now don't become saint like. You will educate that kid until he has discipline issues that warrant expulsion, just like the rest of the school system.
  8. Not every area is blighted.... nor is every public school. It wouldn't matter what you did with any NKY school, we will never reach T and X's boys numbers. We limit our school sizes, and my honest opinion is that due to the type of kid and his or hers parents you can double any number at a private school and it will be equal to the enrollment numbers at a public. The level of accountability at a private school in athletics and education is much higher than a public school 99 times out of 100.
  9. Catholic schools and their alumni want the kids who attend a catholic school to be successful. Successful on the field, in the class room, and in life. Public schools should take a bigger queue from them. Some do. Most don't. Look inward is my suggestion.
  10. Honestly, it doesn't matter. I knew a couple of "urban kids" at cov cath on finacial aid that were strictly there for academics. I think they're doctors now. Financial aid... we're gonna argue financial aid versus free because of tax dollars?
  11. While I support private schools, I need to point out that your statement is a bold faced lie. Yes they do, but it is based on financial need. All Catholic schools do and I wouldn't blink at it, not even twice on Sunday's. The reason Catholic schools exist is to provide a quality education and shape young men and women into better christians. It really has nothing to do with football. Go figure. lol
  12. While I believe that numbers alone are not the answer, I disagree with your comparison of what Highlands has done to Trinity X and Male in the super class. Highlands would not win many more titles if any if they were 6A.
  13. Not sure I agree with your Roadblock statement. We made it to the dance. Just came away empty. The Rocks have a great team, so do we. There's no disgrace in loosing to Trinity in the State Finals or in the regular season. They are a quality team. Just as it is no disgrace to all those other teams who Dixie beat along the way to get there.
  14. Forget about talking Super District. I think you guys are so great you need to create your own class. Let's call it the Super Class, and you guys can play each other for the championship.
  15. Congrats to the Rocks! You guys played a great game, and as many posters had eluded too, were more prepared for the game than we were due to scheduling. We competed, but didn't execute in a fashion that would have led to a different outcome. There is no shame in this loss. I'm proud of our kids and how hard they fought all season. One game does not change my opinion. The Rocks converted several plays into game changers that by all rights should have never been but due to the courageous efforts of their QB and players. I hope to see you all again when we ping pong back into 6A in a few seasons. Until then Good Luck and God Bless.
  16. God I'm glad its Friday and the game is only one more day away. This thread ran its course by Monday. lol
  17. If you can make a better helmet, shoulder pad, knee pad, etc.. go for it. But most of these type of articles have an agenda if you look closely, and no one will ever start out with "I want to see the sport changed so kids have to use flags to avoid injuries, and any helmet to helmet contact is an automatic ejection or forfeit if a coach encourages it.", because if they did we would all say, "WT heck? Are you crazy?" So instead they slow play the issue, appealing to our base need to be logical when making decisions, and saying its "for the kids". They provide information in the lowest light possible to avoid a thorough revue, or plaster you with quite the opposite in a fashion the average layman won't understand. Even if they are unsuccessful in achieving their goal, if they can flood enough information out there over time, it begins to be accepted as gospel without being actually proven science. Feelings as we know are so much more important than facts a lot of times. :jump: I will say again. I played for 20 years, and coached just as long. I have been involved with minor league football and a minor league football hall of fame for the past 23 years. This is not an issue within our community. I am sure there are extreme cases somewhere, but non that I am aware of. If it was I would be the first to report it.
  18. Now if they were honest and wanted to talk about knee, hip and shoulder problems I would have sympathy, but they don't. They want to talk about concussions. It reminds me of when you go to your doctors office for a badly twisted ankle, and one of the first thing they ask you is if your a smoker. Whether you are or aren't, what could that possible have to do with a twisted ankle?
  19. Could have to do with the number of kids who compete at a high enough level to get them. My niece was a D1 gymnast and she mad more concussions than my sons who played football growing up.
  20. This just in.... Taking a shower can be hazardous to your health. News at 11... This kinda stuff is generally pushed by people who like to sensationalize the results to further their agenda. Just my opinion. Who knows, they may have a legitimate concern. What I do know is that I played 20+ years at RB from PeeWee through Minor League football and I still can add subtract and multiply on my worst days. I know hundreds of folks who have had the same experience. Does football cause damage, I'm sure it does, but the same could be said of shaking your head from side to side to get the water out of your ear. 24 people is not a study, and just because you got a concussion doesn't mean your produce. (ie a vegetable for those not following me). It also never says anything in any of these concussion articles about whether the effects are reversible. That makes me suspicious If your a smoker and you quit, they say after a certain period of time you have the same chance of getting cancer as a non-smoker. If that's true then I have to believe that the body can recover from a little bucket jostling. Most guys I know who played for as long as I did have issues with things like knees, hips, or shoulders if anything. I don't know anyone with brain issues that didn't have them long before they started. Just food for thought.
  21. Bull They played this schedule because no one would play them that is local, that is what T posters have said repeatedly.
  22. Really, your gonna go there after we started talking about kids names... that's classless and so is anyone who likes your post.
  23. They've lost five games we've lost one at the beginning of the year. Their used to losing more.
  24. I don't care who they beat, what computer program or report you cite. We beat everyone on our schedule we needed to and convincingly. Last time I checked we were playing for an actual state title. Not a mythical poll
  25. We play who is on our schedule, and lucky for them they qualify. One point, they've lost to 5 teams too.
