For anyone from Frankfort that wants to say howdy to a fellow BGPer, I will be in the pressbox so feel free to stop by prior to the game. You can't miss me, but just in case, I'll probably be wearing either a blue or red Rockcastle white-paneled hat or a Newport Central Catholic grey hat. lol. (I wore the NCC hat prior to the game on Saturday so I gotta wear it prior to the game this week. lol)

I will say that Grant County isn't as bad as I thought they would be. The quarterback is decent, but just doesn't have a line to protect him or get the running backs any gaps to run through. The Braves play hard and if they can get the line playing well they could have up to 4-5 wins, which for that program is a good season. I will however say that the future doesn't look too promising for them though since the bulk of their talent is in the 17 members of the senior class.

Unofficial stats... Rushing Rockcastle County 52 carries for 425 yards Grant County 21 carries for -12 yards Passing Rockcastle's Corey McPhetridge 4-11 for 50 yards Grant's Shelby Caudill 9-24 for 143 yards with 2 TDs and 2 INTs Rock's Damien McDaniel led all rushers with 33 attempts for 332 yards and one TD while teammate Jacob Bussell had 13 carries for 62 yards and three TDs.

This game will be played at Harrison County HS. Looking at the Northern Kentucky Regional Contest that I run, it seems like many are picking Rockcastle County high on their list. I put the game in the contest cause I thought more folks from the northern part of the state might pick Grant to win. What all do the Braves have back and what did they lose from last year? I don't know too much about them from my time living in NKY because they kind of were the red-headed step-child when it came to media coverage. I do think Rockcastle County will win, but not sure of the margin. All in all I'm just excited about the season to start!

If you do the comparisons from pop to pop, the mph's are legit compared to the MLB times but in all reality, not many of those kids will develop into major league talents so we should be happy for them that they are helping their team to get to where they are. I can't wait til Thursday when the LLWS starts. You can see the schedule here. The team I'm most excited about seeing is the Middle East-Africa representative from Uganda. After the debacle that saw a different league from Uganda get denied access to the USA last season, I'm glad the officials in that country have things looking like they're cleared up and giving the kids on the team this year the chance to travel and play.

City BBQ has some really good food. When I was working the NKU home basketball games, City BBQ catered the press room from time to time and those were the ones I looked forward to. The brisket is amazing as well as the sausage links if I remember correctly. I'm not a huge fan of ribs, but City BBQ had some pretty good ones. As for sides, their corn pudding is AMAZING. They also make some really good banana pudding as well.
