I always like to hear the scratchy rendetions of the "National Anthem". You know it's time when you hear the first whoops and yells after the word "brave"! I think you pretty much nailed it with the top 10, though.

NL is starting to look like they could be for real. I thought, coming into the season, KC would be a scoring Jugernaut. Guess I was wrong.

I'll agree with most of this. I would say ANY area team, though.....

B-I-N-G-O! You win! $$$$$ and Tradition is all that keeps this series going. The only way this series ever breaks is when WCHS says it does. LC will not be the school that says enough. It has went unbroken since the consolidation that formed WCHS and neither wants to be the school that ends it. IF everyone wants it done, speak to the WCHS administration. It was a great series for years, even during WC long winning streak many games were decided by a touchdown or less and often in the closing minutes. WCHS has now won the last 2 convincingly, following up a dismantiling of WCHS in '07 by Lynn Camp. LC did win 2 out of 4 in the 2005 to 2009 stretch. Some years LC is competitive with WCHS, some years they are not. I'm all for the series ending for good (and forever) and letting WCHS play the game-worthy opponents from Lexington and Louisville that many in the Colonel camp now see as WCHS equals. WCHS would get as much out of playing LexCath or Trinity/St. X every year as we do out of playing WC. WC helps LC prepare for the 1A grind. I would also think that picking up HCHS as a district foe, most of the WC faithful would want to keep LC on the schedule. I would love to see LC pick up Somerset, Corbin, Pineville or Middlesboro as a yearly game and let WCHS go on to what many perceive to be bigger and better things. You still get a good gate if you are LC, have a local game and FINALLY get to quit hearing why is a 5A playing a 1A.:thumb:

Nah. We were beat down but ended up with no injuries to speak of. The kids seemed to take out of this game a lesson learned. No heads were hung down afterwards. This was an ugly game, but one which will pay some dividends later in the season. We had some leaders to emerge under adverse fire. I've seen LC leave the WC game a physical mess some years. No pain, some gain in this one, noles!:lol: WCHS is physical and fast. They have a ton of athletes (and I agree with the above take on the Boston kid) that we had trouble matching up with. Steele did get to show his speed a couple of times, but there was too much across the board for him to get going well. (A WCHS horsecollar was all that stopped him on one run early. He needed to be one step faster and he was gone. Part of the game.) WCHS will have another good year, and we'll be right there in Colonel stadium smiling at them before kickoff again next year!:thumb:

Luckily, for the Jackets, this one is being played at NL...:lol: JK, Breeze. It is at NL, though. Jackets will probably have the NL faitful pulling for them against SL.

basketballfan1, sorry if LC, or this series, do not live up to your expectations. They can always drop us and add a team like Trinity or St. X for a home and home if they want that kind of a challenge. The two schools seem to like the present arrangement, even if you don't. You don't seem to know much about this series' history. Let WCHS travel to Lexington or Louisville when they could travel down I-75 for every bit of 20 minutes. Lynn Camp beat Whitley in both 2005 and 2007. Last year's seniors at LCHS and WCHS had split the series before they graduated. This used to be one of the hardest fought games in the area, year in and year out. WCHS won like a 100 in a row, but many were decided very late. The teams have played every year since WCHS consolidated. Seems that neither wants to be known as the school that ended the long running rivalry. LCHS won many of the early meetings and then the teams began to split games. WCHS went on a big run that got stopped cold in 2005. PLUS: It is a great gate and a close travel game. These are probably two of the bigger reasons that the two play. Anytime that WCHS feels that we are an unworty opponent, they are free to drop us, bf1, and pick up someone more desirable.

That is the word I am hearing. The Jackets are starting to sound like they are having LC's luck from last year.....

And LexCath can score in buckets in what seems like seconds.:scared:

Nah. I just did not want it to look like I said something I didn't. That gets a LOT started on here. HCHS did move the ball. I think HI will have some problems doing that.

I never said the ball was not moved. I never said that. I did say that HCHS was better than Harlan Ind. I forgot about the score in the 2nd part of the varsity scrimmage, after the JV played. Sorry. They did not score in the first part of the varsity scrimmage. As far as not scoring due to the clock running out, missed tackles, defensive mistakes, etc. well, that happens to everyone sooner or later, scrimmage or game. Part of the game. I forgot the TD BUT, to reinterate, I never said that HCHS dind not move the ball. That is putting words in my mouth. I also said I thought your Offense was better than Harlan Ind.'s. kentucky football, Where did I say and/or act like: a.) HCHS did not move the ball? b.) HCHS had a bad offense? I did say that HCHS had a better OFFENSE than HARLAN INDEPENDENT and had trouble SCORING (with a mistake on the one td) on CHS. If this had been a real game, by points, no matter what, CHS wins 2 tds to 1. I was making the point that if HCHS was having trouble with CHS's Defense, I can't see Harlan Ind. doing it better with the offense they run. I like Harlan County and where the program is going. I like Larkey. I did not smear either one.

I knew NL had a good group of juniors. KC has good seniors. I think they are the difference.

In this game, I think it is experience vs. new exposure. I think KC will win due to the experience and a slight talent edge. I do not think it will be a run away and I do think that NL is going to be something that will have to be dealt with as time goes on, but I think that KC has the edge and wins by 6 to 8 points. That said, IF the KC Panthers go into this game looking to make up for last week's loss, overlook the Jags due to history or thinking NL will just lay down, this would make for the 2nd upset in 2 weeks for Chris and the Jags. I think NL made people take notice last week and do not get overlooked by anyone. The SL/NL game could be interesting later this season.

I was at the scrimmage the other night and got to see both teams. This is a mis-match, even if many people see this Corbin team as a "bad" Corbin team. Corbin is a tad questionable on the pass right now, but from what I saw when Harlan played Cumberland Gap, Corbin will not need to pass. I can't see the Dragons stopping Fritz or Watkins enough to have a chance. I don't even know if Harlan will be able to score on the Hounds varsity. Harlan County did not score and are quite a bit better than the Dragons offensively, IMO. Harlan may score on Corbin's JVs late, but that is not a given. I'm going to say something like: CHS 35 Harlan 06

I don't see a running clock. Last year there was not a running clock with a worse LC team and an equal (or better) WCHS team.

I really think that the Jackets can handle the Cards. I think the Jackets could handle the Cards with all their starters eligible.

Both benches were cleared out and on the field. Why begrudge the young guys a chance to score. We had a chance and fumbled it away. Only ourselves to blame. Our young guys would have tried to score in the same situation. If the JV is out there on a friday night, if they youngsters can play, let them play. I don't care if it's 74-6. Your guys are out there with the opportunity to stop them. If you don't, you don't. They practice and wait behind the varsity guys for their chance.

Region Title Games were '96, '97 and the Title in '03. It may have been '96 and '98. I'm getting old and slipping a little. We won a sub-district in the 80s. Seems like every year we have the district in our grip, something catastrophic happens. We have to be close to a state record in district runner up titles...:ohbrother: (Maybe we can trade in ten 2nd places for a 1st?) Most people who rip on Dave's win/loss record forget he basically built both a team and a tradition. We were dead last in the state when he took over and were going to drop football. I think he is bellow .500, but the first 10-12 years were used to develop a program and there were fewer games when the playoffs started. Remeber that a lot of the sucessful coaches in the state are good at what they do, but stepped into established programs. David has more than 150 wins for sure.

You and me, too, Bubba! A loss is a loss. You live and learn from them. They can make you better if you take something away from them. Losses from years ago have enabled us to build a better program, as strange as that may sound. Few losses physicaly destroy you like the HCHS game did last year, but we played the whole way. Dave has a Regional Title and 3 Regional Final apperances to his name. That's more apperances than any other tri-county team except for Corbin. That's an equal number of regional title championships for LC, KC, Whitley and Williamsburg. Those that respect him/LC will do so, those that don't never will. Does not matter to David Mitchell. He'll still be there friday looking for a game.

Just a little better..... We'll take the comparrison as a compliment, anyway, Jumper Dad!:lol:

Thanks, Bubba.:thumb: Coach has never dodged anyone and will play anyone who will schedule us. Most of the teams we have had through the years have battled to the end, too. I guess that, based on an earlier post, that we can tell the kids that survive friday that they are to be commended. :thumb:
