Whitley County 55 Lynn Camp 13

Whitley lead 48 - 0 at the half.......

48-0 at half. Whitley was to big and way to fast. They averaged 10 yards a carry. Bramlet was a bowling ball running down hill. Wynn ran away from the Campers all night. LeBannion has that knack of picking the right time to keep the ball. The defense was suffocating. I don't know how good Lynn Camp's back were because they were getting beat so bad up front. When the Campers would have a big play Whitley's speed would run them down. Alex Patrick ran one play down from the opposite side were the guys next to me were asking where did he come from. Boston Bryant is a killer coming off the end. It is scary how good he could be in 3 years. The Camp played hard but they were over matched.I hate to say it but Pain may have been a good prediction. Sorry Daddy Cat.

Nah. We were beat down but ended up with no injuries to speak of. The kids seemed to take out of this game a lesson learned. No heads were hung down afterwards. This was an ugly game, but one which will pay some dividends later in the season. We had some leaders to emerge under adverse fire. I've seen LC leave the WC game a physical mess some years. No pain, some gain in this one, noles!

WCHS is physical and fast. They have a ton of athletes (and I agree with the above take on the Boston kid) that we had trouble matching up with. Steele did get to show his speed a couple of times, but there was too much across the board for him to get going well. (A WCHS horsecollar was all that stopped him on one run early. He needed to be one step faster and he was gone. Part of the game.)

WCHS will have another good year, and we'll be right there in Colonel stadium smiling at them before kickoff again next year!:thumb:

Mitchell is a believer in playing the strong teams early for the experience. Play the 5A schools early and then when they get to the 1A part of the schedule it's seems a lot easier.

This game was not as close as the score shows, and thats bad when its 55 to 13. Who is Lynn Camps backup QB? They will need him real soon if Smith keeps taking a pounding like he did last night!! Whitley has several good athletes, but they should for a school their size. Other than the gate and short drive I don't really see how this is a great game for either team.

Congrats. to Whitley Co.

Lynn Camp won't be beat upfront the rest of the year like they were last night. The Smith kid will not see that kind of pressure again. Whitley has an exceptional bunch and would devastate most teams in this area. Whitley's first 15 kids is in the top 10 bunches in the state. But they do not have 30 kids that can play like Highlands, X and Trinity. There is no shame in being beat by Whitley.

B-I-N-G-O! You win!

$$$$$ and Tradition is all that keeps this series going.

The only way this series ever breaks is when WCHS says it does. LC will not be the school that says enough. It has went unbroken since the consolidation that formed WCHS and neither wants to be the school that ends it.

IF everyone wants it done, speak to the WCHS administration.

It was a great series for years, even during WC long winning streak many games were decided by a touchdown or less and often in the closing minutes. WCHS has now won the last 2 convincingly, following up a dismantiling of WCHS in '07 by Lynn Camp. LC did win 2 out of 4 in the 2005 to 2009 stretch.

Some years LC is competitive with WCHS, some years they are not. I'm all for the series ending for good (and forever) and letting WCHS play the game-worthy opponents from Lexington and Louisville that many in the Colonel camp now see as WCHS equals.

WCHS would get as much out of playing LexCath or Trinity/St. X every year as we do out of playing WC. WC helps LC prepare for the 1A grind. I would also think that picking up HCHS as a district foe, most of the WC faithful would want to keep LC on the schedule.

I would love to see LC pick up Somerset, Corbin, Pineville or Middlesboro as a yearly game and let WCHS go on to what many perceive to be bigger and better things. You still get a good gate if you are LC, have a local game and FINALLY get to quit hearing why is a 5A playing a 1A.:thumb:

I'll agree with most of this. I would say ANY area team, though.....

Congrats to Whitley for a convincing win, I thought it would be closer.

As for Whitley playing Lynn Camp, I would love to see it end. Yeah the Wildcats won two of the past 5, but I think that actually should be 2 out of the last 20, and I don't think that they get prepared for Williamsburg by playinng Whitley, Williamsburg throws the ball and gives a totally differendt look to teams while the Colonels throw the ball too.....not two but too....they threw it once Friday night.

Lynn Camp has only scored 13 points in two games and they only got the 13 becuase Whitley subbed down, and Whitley only scored 55 because the running clock and subs kept them from scoring more.:isurrender: The Wildcats need to find some offense.

I think Whitley needs to replace LC on the schedule with teams like Lexington Catholic, (not Trinity) or Scott County or Bell....wait they play Bell... but you get the idea. Face it, 18 out of 20 years outside of the gate neither team benifits much from playing the game even if it has been played for 53 years or whatever it is.

I agree. WCHS has a great team this year and we did not deserve to share a field with them friday, Blazer. You will face better challenges than our weak attempt this year.

LC uses games like the WC game to pepare for numbers and power football they will face later. Where did I say LC uses WCHS to prepare for WHS? You added that. I have no idea where you found it, but it was not me. Here is my direct quote: "WC helps LC prepare for the 1A grind." WHERE is Williamsburg mentioned by name? C'ville and LCA both play a lot of power football. Harlan will, too. What about them? What about teams you will face in the playoffs? PLEASE do not put words into my mouth when I did not say them.

Drop us. Fire us. Schedule the game and don't tell us where it is. Hide our game bus. These are the only ways LC will leave this series.

(It's not like the Colonels have been actively involved in getting rid of us. Its your administration as much as ours. If they were, we would be gone.)

This was once a competitive series, Blazer, but it has run its course. We have won 2 out of 20. True.

BUT: Many of the 18 we lost were very close games, like I said before. You can look it up. Don't pretend that they have all been 25+ point blowouts. Don't pretend that the clock is always continuous. Don't act like it has always been the LC varsity against WCHS's JV. Its not true. It is 5A vs. 1A and will always be stacked in the 5A team's favor. In fact, if you look at it, it is quite a feat that we have won as many as we have. The last WCHS loss to LC (2007) was one in which WC had no offense, LC blew them out and we subbed down. That goes both ways in a blowout, Blazer.

WC fans, and yourself, are the ones that say the lack of competition is why this one should be dropped. At least if you do drop us, replace us with a team that you feel worthy of. I am all for never playing the Colonels again. We can agree on that, Blazer!:thumb:

Get us dropped if you can. I'll even sign the petition.

D.C., I know Coach Black wont end the series, he respects Coach Mitchell to much and is a very traditional person (Bell and Rock). I dont know how the Colonels could upgrade much on their schedule, Lex. Cath. and Belfry, were huge additions. Whitley was the dominant team this year, but as you point out has not and will not always be the case.

That's how I see it too, WCSF. You'll find few that agree with us.

You could always replace LC with Corbin, M'boro or Letcher County.

Johnson Cent. might be a good move for Whitley. There is always NKY to look at, too. A LOT of the WCHS faithful think they are ready to make that step.

I work with a lot of the WCHS Alumn and they seem to think that WC is here to stay. Forevermore.

I think the fans want this game gone, at least the bulk on here, but I don't see the schools doing it. I know Dave won't even think about it (Ending the series) and it seems WC is in for the long haul, too.
