  1. Lynn Camp has between 35 and 40 kids. We have never had this many go to summer camp and stay with us.
  2. I guess what I am saying is that if a kid lives in District A, but can play unencumbered by the transfer rules in District B, WHY would anyone not go Open Enrollment? Seems win-win for the better programs.... Its even better if you are a parent or guardian and your school tax rates could be higher if you went to school B. Don't move, avoid the higher tax, Livin' Large!:thumb::lol:
  3. That was the hypothetical situation we were discussing. The kid lives in another city and another county over (in the shadow of the other school), but attends a school where there is supposedly "open enrollment" in another town and county and plays ball. The example we used was probably a 30 minute trip each way. BUT, just the last year, a kid moved from the same city and county over to the open enrollment school and had to wait for his change of address to come through. Legit change of address. So, had he stayed put and not moved, he would have been eligible to go to the open enrollment school, but by moving he could not until change of address was established? That is weird.
  4. Do you have this week's lottery numbers, too? That would be a big help to a lot of us on here.... I do not see Harlan stopping Williamsburg completely, so that will mean W'burg will probably score in the low 30's, at least. If Williamsburg can score 32 points or more, they win. If Harlan can keep Williamsburg under 20, they win and will have managed to do something that a lot of teams in the last few years have not done. Harlan will have to play mistake free ball for 4 quarters to have a chance in this one, IMO. I think it will be more like: Burg 36 Harlan 21
  5. Does open enrollment pertain to the one county resident students, or can open enrollment be open for 2 or more counties, NF? I know of one situation we discussed in which the school that was being transfered into was both out of the county and had an open enrollment, but the school being transfered from would not release the kid until address validation was received. It seemed odd to me that if the open enrollment was legit that the other school could put a hold on the transfer.... With open enrollment, the kid should have been able to live across the street from the school he left and still enroll where he wanted, right?
  6. Does anyone fully understand the "open enrollment" that some schools claim? Does this apply to academics only, or does open enrollment make a player living outside of a district or out of county eligible somehow? We were discussing this the other night and no one seemed to have a full grip on the rule of "open enrollment". I really did not see how an open enrollment would be fully accepted in a district. It would seem to make a sham out of transfer rules for athletics, IMO.
  7. We over at LC can sympathize with the Jackets. Once the injury bug hits small teams hard, you just try to tread water one week at a time. I think SL adjusted to W'burg in the 2nd half and SL quit making mistakes. Jackets were in a position to punch one in and tie or win, but the intentional grounding really hurt them. I have to disagree with some. If SL had this much trouble getting by a really banged up, but dangerous, 1A school, a healthy, confident rival could be WAY too much to handle next week. JMO.
  8. I kept thinking if we could only get through the 5A schools injury free we would be OK. LCA's speed scares me more than the power. The first two games we have played were not even smash mouth football. It was more Punch In The Mouth Football.....
  9. It gets a lot better after this week. Harlan, Pineville, C'ville, Clinton Co., Berea, Williamsburg and McCreary Co. Some tough games mixed in there, but Class A tough games. We went front heavy this year.
  10. That's how I see it too, WCSF. You'll find few that agree with us. You could always replace LC with Corbin, M'boro or Letcher County. Johnson Cent. might be a good move for Whitley. There is always NKY to look at, too. A LOT of the WCHS faithful think they are ready to make that step. I work with a lot of the WCHS Alumn and they seem to think that WC is here to stay. Forevermore. I think the fans want this game gone, at least the bulk on here, but I don't see the schools doing it. I know Dave won't even think about it (Ending the series) and it seems WC is in for the long haul, too.
  11. I'd love to see JC pull the upset, but I think they have an uphill battle on their hands. Bell 28 JC 14
  12. At least we will be injury free on the starting side this year. Thanks for the positive thoughts, 3wishes.:thumb:
  13. I agree. WCHS has a great team this year and we did not deserve to share a field with them friday, Blazer. You will face better challenges than our weak attempt this year. LC uses games like the WC game to pepare for numbers and power football they will face later. Where did I say LC uses WCHS to prepare for WHS? You added that. I have no idea where you found it, but it was not me. Here is my direct quote: "WC helps LC prepare for the 1A grind." WHERE is Williamsburg mentioned by name? C'ville and LCA both play a lot of power football. Harlan will, too. What about them? What about teams you will face in the playoffs? PLEASE do not put words into my mouth when I did not say them. Drop us. Fire us. Schedule the game and don't tell us where it is. Hide our game bus. These are the only ways LC will leave this series. (It's not like the Colonels have been actively involved in getting rid of us. Its your administration as much as ours. If they were, we would be gone.) This was once a competitive series, Blazer, but it has run its course. We have won 2 out of 20. True. BUT: Many of the 18 we lost were very close games, like I said before. You can look it up. Don't pretend that they have all been 25+ point blowouts. Don't pretend that the clock is always continuous. Don't act like it has always been the LC varsity against WCHS's JV. Its not true. It is 5A vs. 1A and will always be stacked in the 5A team's favor. In fact, if you look at it, it is quite a feat that we have won as many as we have. The last WCHS loss to LC (2007) was one in which WC had no offense, LC blew them out and we subbed down. That goes both ways in a blowout, Blazer. WC fans, and yourself, are the ones that say the lack of competition is why this one should be dropped. At least if you do drop us, replace us with a team that you feel worthy of. I am all for never playing the Colonels again. We can agree on that, Blazer!:thumb: Get us dropped if you can. I'll even sign the petition.
  14. I'm afraid I'm going to wish I did too, Bluto!:ohbrother: I promise we'll have a couple more kids that can move the ball compared to November, though.
  15. We're seeing it more and more every season. Fundamentals are dying for some reason. Some of the injuries that kids sit 2 or 3 weeks for now were not sat for a few years ago, also. Just different times. Softer lives, more to do with their time.
  16. I think Bell takes it, but it could be a great game.
  17. Its a battle of the LC's friday in Lexington. Last year, the blue LC destroyed the orange LC and made them like it. Will it be more of the same? Are you going to be there, Bluto?
  18. I think NL gets a very solid win this week.
  19. Emotions sometimes make the most well behaved people act on impulse. Sounds like it was all handled fairly quickly and professionaly, though.
  20. Congrats to all at NL. Jags are looking for real. I don't see SL doing much with them next week, either. I did not see KC being 0-2 at this point when the season was starting.
  21. WOW! I'm going to be the first to go with NL over SL next week!
  22. Now it's GOTTA BE one of the best finishes in the Bowl up there. If they score, will they go for the tie or try for 2 and the win?
  23. This could be one of the best endings in this Bowl ever....
