Male/Eastern aftermath

Featured Replies

Just curious to see what everyone's thoughts on this were. This surprises me that it happened and I'm curious as to what the consequences should/will be.

From this morning's CJ: "When it was over, there was a heated exchange between the teams after the Male student section rushed the field and attempted to plant a flag on the Eastern “E.” Also at midfield were the initials “JAS” to honor retiring Eastern principal James A. Sexton."

Has anyone witnessed an opposing team's fans rushing the field to plant a flag at mid field? This could have gotten very ugly, very quickly.

Lone Oak and Caloway County come to mind.

1987 Holy Cross vs Shelby Co playoff game. The did not try to plant the flag but the fans did rush the field and there were fights on the field.

Theres the infamous Owensboro Catholic / Henderson Co. soccer brawl.

Also, noticed after the game Eastern huddled in the end zone for a post game talk. Male's student body met them there taunting, which could have led to a dangerous situation. Unfortunate situation at a high school football game.

Yeah, just two years ago, and the bad feelings have yet to subside.

I traded films with a Male coach this morning. He told me this went back to last year's game in which Eastern beat Male. Also one of Male's #1 RB's scored a TD with 14 seconds left in a 34-18 game might have helped stir the pot.

That's ashame. Male and Eastern are supposed to be two of the better/well respected public schools in Louisville.

I don't think it's ever appropriate for the visitors to rush the home team's field. Ever.

Yeah Centre - ALL teams/student bodies have their knuckleheads. But hey, they're only kids.

Rule 13

Emotions sometimes make the most well behaved people act on impulse.

Sounds like it was all handled fairly quickly and professionaly, though.

Emotions sometimes do get the best of us. Kids sometimes don't make the best decisions but they are just kids. But I sure hope that no one got hurt.

I think the 2006 CovCath students were dancing on the H at Highlands. Kids just being kid's. No harm done. By the way, Covcath won on a last second TD pass!

Yeah I remember that but I think we returned the favor after Beating CovCath in 2007 over at the Breakfast club in Park Hills. I think between HHS and CovCath it's a little different story. That's what makes it a great matchup each year.
