  1. Any word on Mercer's #33 Blake Arnold? I know he went out before halftime with a shoulder injury. Sure hope he is okay and ready for the game in two weeks.
  2. All three of these boys had a great night on defense! Edwards can hit you now!!! He loves playing defense! The same with Masterson and Buster - they love it too! :thumb:
  3. You got that right- Mercer's linebackers will definitely hit you hard and you will know it after it happens - Chris Lewis, Andre Brooks, Nick Reed and Rashad Buster. They are definitely hard hitting linebackers!!!!!!:fight:
  4. All Mercer County and South Laurel fans need to go to http://www.wtvq.com and click on "Girdiron Blitz" at the top of the web page and vote for the game to be televised on their tv station this weekend (channel 36). The votes are real close right now between the Mercer/South Laurel game and the Frankfort/Western Hills game. All you Titan and South Laurel fans go on-line and start voting for our game to be the "Game of the Week".
  5. Western vs. North Laurel at 5:30 PM Mercer vs. South Laurel at 8:00 PM
  6. I believe it is being played at the AJ Field because Alvis Johnson is the "Honoree" for the evening. He is being recognized for everything he did for Harrodsburg sports (one last time). He is also doing the coin flip. I think that is why they are playing there.
  7. How big is the following of fans for either of these two teams? How many fans follow Western and how many fans follow North Laurel. With South Laurel playing after North - Laurel County should be sending plenty to watch these two games. I know for the MC Titans - the place will be packed. Bring your lawn chair - the bleachers won't hold everyone when the Titans take the field at 8:00 PM. Go Titans!
  8. So far (through 3 scrimmages and the first regular season game) the Titans defense has not allowed any team to score. The linebackers of Rashad Buster, Andre Brooks, Nick Reed, and Chris Lewis are sticking people left and right. They are not afraid to hit you! The corners of Aaron Bee and Daryl Smith and the safety's of Blake Arnold and Freeman Edwards are knocking balls down everywhere. The defensive linemen (not sure of all of their names) are knocking heads too! This defense will be tested this coming this weekend against South Laruel. I hope they keep up the good work. Mercer Titans 44 South Laurel 6
  9. From what I have heard and seen at the scrimmages - Mercer's backfield has an extreme amount of speed in the backfield - Griffith, Jackson, and Ford (Walker is currently injured - don't know if he will play in this game or not). I don't know if LCA's defense will be able to contain these backs. Mercer's defense is looking good too! Linebackers and safety's have great speed. Mercer should win this one. Go Titans!
  10. The boys are ready to hit the playing field. They are so wound up here at school - I just hope we can control them until Saturday. They are ready to "hit" somebody and score some TD's!!!!!!
  11. Offensive Line was about 60% improved. They still need some work.
  12. This game should be a great one! I understand that this is the night that Danville Admirals have as their "open"date. There are going to be mass people at this game!!!!!!
  13. Mercer is scrimmaging Somerset at Somerset on Friday, August 4th - not sure of the time. Mercer is scrimmaging Danville at Danville on Friday, August 11th - not sure of the time.
  14. The Titans are in camp this week - any news on how things are going? How do the QB's look and what about the running backs?
  15. Great guy! Extremely efficient motivator. He knows how to get the best out of someone! The hiring of Coach Donald Wayne Smith is a great asset for Coach Jagger's coaching staff!:thumb:
  16. To all of us "Titan" fans, this will be a very exciting game. But, more importantly, it is going to be very important to the 130 or so players who will be representing the new football team!!!!!
  17. Did any of your quarterbacks attend either of the two camps this week at Purdue University?
  18. If all of Mercer's seniors and juniors had been there when Mercer was competing against Frankfort, the outcome would have definitely been different. The majority of the experienced receivers and experienced defensive backs were taking their ACT tests and did not arrive until after that game was over. As I do recall, Mercer was in the final 4 of the day. Was Frankfort?
  19. Wasn't really much of a passing camp. They just alternated every other play on offense with every quarterback (Freshmen through Seniors). Seemed to be just a "get used to each other" kind of thing.
  20. These are two good young men at the quarterback position who are friends and have accepted the challenge to fight it out to see who will be the starter. Either way, which ever one gets the starting nod, the other one will be on the field playing somewhere. Both are good athletes.
  21. Mercer County started the "7 on 7" season on Monday night. There were approximately 60 to 65 players there that consisted of just quarterbacks, running backs, receivers, linebackers, and defensive backs. No linemen have even shown up yet. I hear there are about 60 to 65 linemen. This would make for the 9th through 12th grades of approximately 120 to 130 players who are showing interest in playing on this team. All of the players seemed to be getting along. Looks like it was Freeman Edwards and Justin Morgan competing for the quarterback position. Jaggers was very organized and the practice ran very smooth. Jaggers seems to have it all under control. Go Mercer!
  22. There was a committee of about 40 students (equal amount from each school) that met for two days last week with an independent source. There were lots of mascot names mentioned, but the two that were voted on by the students were "Trailblazers" and "Titans". The students do not have the final say, the newly combined school board members will be making the final decision. Nothing has officially been announced yet.
  23. Mercer's updated schedule for 2006 season is no cake walk - Lexington Christian Academy at Lexington Catholic South Laurel at Fort Harrod Bowl Casey County Garrard County Boyle County (I think) Then the rest of the season are the district games. These boys playing in 2A this season are definitely not going to be able to just breeze through to a state title. They are going to have their hands full the whole entire season! Right now, the boys I have spoken too have really good attitudes and are ready to get started.
