  1. With this merge, there is not a new school building or new name for this coming season. They (or we, I should say) are in the same buildings and will be Mercer County High School. They only thing changing is the mascot. Colors will be red, blue, and white. This is not a new school system. The only thing that has happened is that Mercer County School System has absorbed the Harrodsburg School System via merge.
  2. I am not from Mercerburg as they are calling it, but everyone needs to chill out, like someone said in another thread Harrodsburg only won 3 games last year. The are not merging with the Green Bay Packers. I agree with you! Everyone needs to chill out and let this newly formed football team get to work on playing football. None of these athletes asked to be merged together from either side, but they are taking it in stride. They are forming new relationships, getting to know each other better, and trying to build some chemistry before they even get started with football in June. Coach Jaggers just took over Mercer's program in 2005. Now he is basically starting all over again in 2006 with new added players. Why doesn't everyone just give it a rest and let Coach Jaggers get these boys together to take care of business. No one can predict at this moment that this team will win the 2A championship. They haven't even had their first practice. No one even knows who is going to be playing on the new team or who will even be in the starting positions. We are talking about Mercer getting maybe 20 to 25 new players on their team. Of those 20 to 25 players from Harrodsburg, only about 6 of them are seniors. Let's give Coach Jaggers, his staff, and the "newly" formed team a break! Just let them play football !!!!
  3. Why would anyone want to get rid of a coach or even predict it before we see what he will be able to accomplish with his "new" team this coming football season? If the boys at Mercer have the attitude that the boys at Harrodsburg have right now, this team will be successful in the fall. Will they go all the way? Only time will tell!
  4. I am not sure how many seniors from Mercer will be on the football team. But from Harrodsburg, the following will be returning: Cory Jackson , Freeman Edwards, Brandon Ford, DeMarkus Masterson, Ronald Yeast, Tirelle Singleton (new player), and Rashad Buster (actually he will be a junior, but due to the age limit, this will be his last year playing football).
  5. As far as I know for this coming season in 2006, Mercer County will remain in Class 2A in their same district.
  6. With the merge of Harrodsburg and Mercer athletes and more athletes to choose from for positions......who is going to be playing in what positions (offense and defense)?
  7. Well, it is now official. Mercer School Board voted tonight (May 16th) 5 to 0 in favor of a merge. The two schools will merge effective July 1st. There will only be one sports team in the fall. With the athletes from the two schools together on one football team this is going to spell trouble for other 2A schools. I know the football players from Harrodsburg are ready to get it on. The players will probably be receptive and ready to go. Let's just hope the parents from both sides will feel the same.:dancingpa
  8. Anyone know where you can go online to find the results of this combine?
  9. If they are transferring, that means their families would have to move to Danville. Wonder if that is going to happen? I haven't heard that rumor, so I guess you are the one starting it.:jump:
  10. Well, without a doubt, we know the backfield will be speedy all around. But what about linemen? I know Harrodsburg will have at least 2 maybe 3 returning linemen with good size and varsity experience. What about Mercer? How many linemen do they have returning with Varsity experience from last year? What about their size?
  11. I am not sure, but I would say it was hand held. Either way, they are a bunch of speedy boys.
  12. From the Centre Combine on Wednesday - This is what the "future" backfield from the Harrodsburg/Mercer County consolidation did in the 40: Cory Jackson, Donald Walker, and Brandon Ford all ran a 4.3; Freeman Edwards ran a 4.6 with two bad ankles. This could become very interesting!!!!!!!
  13. Looks like if there is only going to be one sports team for the Harrodsburg/Mercer County consolidation in the fall - The football team is going to be loaded with speed in the backfield. Cory Jackson, Donald Walker, and Brandon Ford each ran a 4.3 at the combine. Freeman Edwards ran a 4.6 with two bad ankles. This could become a very interesting team!!!!
  14. Does anyone know when they will announce who the head coach will be?
  15. No one from either school system has announced any coaching positions. I am sure in the next couple of weeks (before June 1) the head football coach will be announced.
  16. Plan that has been in the works is: Harrodsburg and Mercer County will merge effective July 1, 2006. Students will remain in their same school buildings until the new high school is built and ready to open in August 2008. The sports teams will merge together effective July 1, 2006. There will be no more Harrodsburg High School Sports teams. Students from each school will be getting together in the next couple of weeks to select a new mascot and team colors. The new and IMPROVED Mercer Sports Teams in the fall will be playing as a new mascot and with new team colors.
  17. The Board Meeting is tonight at 5:15 in the board room at Harrodsburg. The only thing on the agenda is a "merger vote". A copy of the merger proposal is suppose to be distributed tonight. I guess that will outline and address the "sports" issues as to whether we will be playing as one team in the fall or still be separate. Whatever the outcome, I feel the student athletes will step it up and be ready to take on the next phase of their sport careers.
  18. It is so easy from someone on the outside looking in to make observations about the whole merger topic. However, let's not forget the football players from both schools (Harrodsburg and Mercer). They are going to have their work cut out for them by combining and making this work (if the vote is a yes). Harrodsburg players are going to have to learn a whole new football system and Mercer players are going to have to accept them and everyone is going to have to work together. If the merge is a yes, everyone needs to have a positive attitude so the main goal can be reached by ALL football players...... and that is winning football games. Personally, I think the football players from both schools are going to be receptive to this change, work together, and get the job done!:thumb:
  19. From everything that I have been hearing from parents with the Harrodsburg School System and Mercer County School System - this is a done deal. We will know for sure on Tuesday night.
  20. Just received a phone call that a vote on merger is going to take place this coming Tuesday night at a special called Harrodsburg School Board Meeting. This is very important news. I sure hope the powers that be know what they are doing if this goes through. Once it goes through - Harrodsburg School System and Harrodsburg sports will be no more!
  21. If a merge does take place between Mercer and Harrodsburg.... Who is going to be the head football coach? Jaggers or Yeast?
  22. Harrodsburg's Cory Jackson! He catches almost all of QB Freeman Edwards's passes! Cory is very consistent at receiving!
  23. I think Harrodsburg will be there with 5 or 6 kids. I know Jackson, Ford, and Edwards will be there.
  24. I personally do not want to see the merge. Students at Harrodsburg are used to smaller classrooms with a more one-on-one study time with teachers. Certain athletes would be left out in the cold: example: Instead of 11 players starting on offense in football for HBURG and 11 players starting on offense at MERCER, there would only be 11 now playing. Same on defense. Athletes will be suffering. That goes for all sports if the two combine. Merging is not about getting the best sports teams. That's not what children go to school for. They go for academics. Academics are great at HBURG. The students have all the AP classes they need.
