Jaggers outcoached McGlone in this matchup. Jaggers knew not to put the ball in the air due to the high winds. Too many interceptions could happen. As was the case for Russell! Jaggers was content on letting his offense just run the ball and play ball protection the second half with no fumbles. Mercer running backs did a good job of ball protection. They might not have had the rushing numbers in this game, but they had no fumbles. This was a great accomplishment for the running backs - considering the hits they were taking from the Russell defense. Mercer's defense was asked to win the game in the second half for the Titans - they did just that! What a great day that was!

Mercer is the 2A State Champion. The players played their butts off today. Nothing else needs to be said!

Bring Frazier to the track meets in the spring and put him in the lane beside #2 Jackson in 100 and the 200 - then we'll see who is the fastest. Cory Jackson from Mercer will smoke him and just about everyone else in the state. Can't wait to see that happen.

That defense will be losing 8 starters. The other starters are 1 junior and 2 sophomores. The defense will have big shoes to fill next year.

It really does not matter how many kids are in a school or how many players are on a team. Each team - Mercer and Russell - can only put 11 players on the field at one time. Mercer will put their best out there and so will will Russell. Get over the merge thing - let these boys enjoy their final week of football for this year! Only 11 from each team will be playing at one time! Not 900.

Back to the topic - Who cares if they played at Mercer or if they played at Harrodsburg last year? This year they ALL play for the TITANS! They are ALL one team with one goal - winning a state championship. GO TITANS!!!!

Just how good is this defensive team?

Long standing Mercer mascot , kicked to the curb by the merger ... His last official football game was against the Devils .... Did the Scotty know then how this would all play out ? ( a little humor ) Got news for you - that "Scotty" was laid to rest on July 1, 2006 as was the "Pioneer" from Harrodsburg. Henceforth - the "TITAN" was born. You will be introduced to the MIGHTY MIGHTY TITAN this coming Friday! Get ready, cause here we come!!!!!

Do you think Coach Jaggers and Staff are just going to let this team celebrate all week? DON'T THINK SO!!!!! On the Saturday morning radio show it was said that the routine will not be broken this week. Heck - the school offered charter buses for the boys to Papa John's this week and Jaggers turned them down! THE TITANS will be arriving in the yellow school buses and THE BOYS will be coming to "take care of business". Get ready!

IMO Mercer's defense has been overshadowed by the explosive offense. Mercer's defense has kept the Titan's in several ballgames this year and will be called upon to do so again Friday night. Should be a great game between two top-notched programs.

What is the update on Owensboro's QB? Was he injured in the game this past Friday night?

Newport's defense played a great game. I think all Mercer had in total rushing yards was around 180 yards. Ford was held to 33 yards, Walker was held to around 60, and Jackson was held to around 80 yards. Titans had 2 passing TD's - one from Morgan to Chase Wofford and one from Cory Jackson to Daryl Smith. Daryl Smith had 2 interceptions - one he returned for a TD. Freeman Edwards had one TD on an onsides kick, he picked up the ball, reversed the field and scooted 50 yards to the endzone. The offense was held in check tonight, but the MC Titans defense proved why they are the real deal!

Let me enlighten everyone on Mercer's defense. If you think that Mercer will have trouble handling a team that wants to get "physical".....just tell that offense to bring it to Chris Lewis, Rashad Buster, Nick Reed, Demarkus Masterson, Freeman Edwards, Blake Arnold, Aaron Bee, Daryl Smith, Andre Brooks, Sam Blackburn, and William Harris (and a few others who sub in and out). This defensive unit will flat out hit you! They won't run from you, they will be knocking you down! Bring it on, baby! Mercer's defense is the real thing! Just ask Lexington Christian Academy, Garrard County, Boyle County, South Laurel, Casey County, Newport, Spencer County, North Oldham, Lloyd Memorial and Henry County. Not one team has scored more than 19 points on this defense the whole year. The good thing about this defensive team is that they take one game at a time. They don't look ahead. They go out on Friday nights and take care of business! THEY LOVE TO GET PHYSICAL AND WELCOME ALL CHALLENGES! This defense is the real deal!

This game is going to be a defensive battle. Both teams have great defenses. But, I think Mercer has the depth, senior leadership (8 seniors starting on defense), and outstanding athletic ability on the defensive side to pull this one out! Go Titans!

Now, back to the game from Friday night..... Defense for Mercer was outstanding: Rashad Buster had 11 tackles, Freeman Edwards had 11 tackles and 1 interception, and Chris Lewis had 9 tackles and 1 fumble recovery for a touchdown! Great defensive game!!!!

I would say the starters are glad the Lloyd game is this week. Hopefully, they will get to play the entire ballgame and not just 2 quarters.
