Mercer Football 2006

With the merge of Harrodsburg and Mercer athletes and more athletes to choose from for positions......who is going to be playing in what positions (offense and defense)?

so does this mean Mercer will be in Lexington Catholic's district?

As far as I know for this coming season in 2006, Mercer County will remain in Class 2A in their same district.

so they will combine the best athletes of the two schools and compete in 2A?

For 1 season. Then with realignment in 2007, they should move up to 3A.

does that sound fair? I don't think that would be.

That's the way the cookie crumbles. The KHSAA won't realign until 2007 so it stands. If Mercer merged into Harrodsburg, then they could be competing in 1A instead! Ouch!

But, they still have to get 2 teams to combine into one unit AND they won't even be at the same school. I don't see a state title run next season, but if they come together, they could be very dangerous.

I can't wait to see them play. It isn't often that a team has to figure out where to place all the talented players they have. Usually a team is short on something. It usually means a championship season when a well coached team has it all. I am really curious as to what offense they will run. I am pretty sure they will probably be in the shotgun most of the time and throw it about 30 times a game. ;)

Come on Mike, you know better than that.

I was talking to one of Marty's former assistant coaches last night and I told him that Marty knows what to do with running backs.

I am predicting the "bone" and the "broken bone" and (at least) three 1,000 yard rushers for Mercer County in '06.

A wise man once said, "There are only three possible outcomes when you throw the ball and two of those are bad."

I know an Old Wise Man who used to say that too...

Of course. I was hoping somebody that knows Marty would read that and laugh outloud while drinking a soda or something and spit it all over their computer screen. Joking! Only joking. I think Marty runs the other 'system'. I hear that his son Josh is breaking into the coaching ranks and himself coached the JV team at North Hardin to an undefeated season last year 'rollin the bone'. All of us who know Josh are very proud of his first run at this coachin' business. As i have heard some people say, "bo bu bo bo BONE! :D

Looks like Mercer County will have a date with Russell for the regional title come this fall. Who does Mercer having coming back that made a big impact last year or could make a big impact this year?? How many seniors do they have?

I am not sure how many seniors from Mercer will be on the football team. But from Harrodsburg, the following will be returning: Cory Jackson , Freeman Edwards, Brandon Ford, DeMarkus Masterson, Ronald Yeast, Tirelle Singleton (new player), and Rashad Buster (actually he will be a junior, but due to the age limit, this will be his last year playing football).

It will be a good game when the Devils rematch the Scotties for the regional title cause in my mind they both are locks to be there. Last year's game was alot closer than the score indicated.

Maybe this is the year Scotties could finally notch a win against the Devils, the Devils lead the series 3-0, all three games have come in the playoffs.
