Knox Central will again be without two starting linemen due to injuries. Johnson Central is not a team one wants to face at less than full strength. JC will have to be the favorite. I think this game will be on WYMTs web channel tonight and tape delayed on WYMT TV Saturday.

This was the first game of the Corbin Pigskin Bowl. Gist was named MVP.

I've never understood the problem with Knott County. They have nice facilities, they put a lot of effort into their other sports programs and I know they have the athletes available.

Interesting game between two evenly matched teams. Could have gone either way.

With 3 starting linemen out due to injuries and heat related cramps limiting their recievers, Knox Central relied on their running game behind Gist and Cannady to grind this one out.

6 INTs for the KC defense including 3 by Soph. Matt Barger and a pick 6 by Jeffrey Canady to go along with his two rushing TDs before leaving early in the third with a minor head injury.

Knox Central jumps out to a 27-0 halftime lead and coasts to the win.

I wish I had a final on this one. Lynn Camp leads at the half, 33-0. I've met new head Coach Russell and the guy is young, enthusiastic, and fun. I wish I could have been there.

Knox Central will host a preseason scrimage this Thursday, (Aug 9). You can get a first look at the new Lynn Camp team in the first game vs. Cumberland Gap Tenn. with Knox Central hosting Williamsburg in the night cap.

A recent article in the Times-Tribune quotes Coach Russell as saying they are entering camp with a roster of over 60 players, the largest group he has assembled since being named head coach. Also, Sophomore qb/receiver Mathew Barger has decided to rejoin the team.

Naw, nothing like that. He told his dad he just likes basketball better. To me, high school athletics are all about having fun and if that's what he enjoys that's what he should do.

Older one graduated, younger one appears to have succumbed to the lure of playing basketball all summer. Wouldn't be my choice, but if that's what makes him happy......

Knox Central will not only have to replace starting qb Jonathon Barger but younger brother and heir apparent Mathew has decided not to play. Coach Russell will be scrambling this summer to find a qb as the Barger brothers pretty much represented the entire qb corps last season.

Somebody tell me who Phillip Russell is. Is this good news? Daddy Cat, is this someone you wanted?

This is also my understanding although I think it was to mow the field instead of fix it.
