  1. No it's not as simple as a ranking in a publication, or Hellbird's opinion. You wanted to talk facts. I'm measuring by what college bound students want to take (I'm assuming all of these students that are transferring to Beechwood for academic reasons would be college bound), and what's offered. You still haven't answered the question of how many college hours can a kid graduate from Beechwood with by taking AP classes, etc.? I looked up all of the classes offered at Conner, a schedule a student can potentially take, and the college hours UK would give for scores on exams. I'm talking in facts.
  2. It's a myth anyway. I just looked up the school report cards. Here are the facts: Teachers at Beechwood: % with Bachelor's: 16 % with Master's: 48 % with Rank I: 20 Teachers at Conner: % with Bachelor's: 14.6 % with Master's: 50.6 % with Rank I: 20.2 Neither school has a teacher with a doctorate according to the 2013-2014 school report card.
  3. OK, I can talk facts too. Conner had 120 out of 286 kids that took the ACT in a gap group, or on an IEP. Beechwood had 17 out of 90. I'd bet if you looked at the top 90 scores at Conner, they'd be very favorable to Beechwood. But you keep relying on Cincy Magazine to tell you who's good. Again, you can get 62 hours of college credit at Conner before you graduate. How many can you get at Beechwood? Across the board, Beechwood's scores are better, but it's a much smaller sample of the population. But if your student wants access to more opportunity to obtain college credit while in HS, Conner offers more. It's because more teachers, more students = more classes Conner can offer. There is nothing at Beechwood that is offered academically that's not offered at Conner. Students are going to get as much out of a HS education as they put into it. It's not about the building, it's about what's offered, and how hard kids are willing to stack up their schedule. Both are fine schools.
  4. As is Conner. What can a kid get at Beechwood they can't get at Conner?
  5. So is Conner. At Conner a student can earn up to 62 hours of college credit through AP and dual enrollment classes before they graduate. All of this without taking a single class outside of school hours. Because of the large enrollment/faculty, Conner has more AP classes to offer as well. The academic argument doesn't hold up.
  6. I'd drive to a neighborhood out here in Boone County, and find an electrician on a job. Offer him $100 to fix it after he gets off work, you supply the parts.
  7. I had it something awful. Really put a crimp in my day, just about every day. Tried cortisone injections, those god awful inserts from the podiatrist that were made from molds to my feet. Nothing really helped a lot. Then I had cryogenic surgery on it. Basically the dr. cut 3 small inserts in the bottom of both my feet around the pain. Put a cryogenic probe in, and froze all the nerves. BAM. No more problems. 3 years later I'm up to about 25 miles a week again. I'd highly recommend it, Dr. Greg Worley of NKY foot specialists did mine.
  8. I looked into using them to fly to Orlando. It seemed as though after all the add ons they weren't all that cheaper than Delta. They charge you for bags, the ability to pick your seat, and all sorts of stuff. Am I wrong?
  9. Agreed. Tyler is a fine young man, and will have to deal with this for the rest of his life. Sad incident all the way around for sure.
  10. I'll echo the sentiment. Congrats to a very classy, top notch man and coach.
  11. Agree wholeheartedly. Put Phillips in the 3.
  12. "Chances" do not convict people. Clearly that was the case here as well. I have a hard time convicting a doctor if the victim is OD'ing. Are we going to start charging Anheuser Busch when people drink and drive?
  13. I would think someone would claim if this was a planned attack? No? That was my first inclination as well, but now, I don't think so.
  14. I put out salt about 4 o'clock yesterday, it melted the ice before the snow hit. Today's shoveling was a breeze compared to the last ice/snow we got. I got lucky.
  15. No offense NWO.........but I don't want to hear from you about snow for about 10 months. Give me some sunny outlooks.
  16. Not with new TV money coming online. I think they'll get both extended if Latos has another good year. They let Cueto walk, and go with those two. I'm ok with that.
  17. I believe to get days waived now, you have to forgo your spring break.
  18. Jon Gruden changed things up in the playoffs the last few years, and tried to "outsmart" the other team and get away from throwing to AJ Green so much. How'd that work out? My question is, is there a time in the playoffs where Manning's team has lost to a team that wasn't as good as his team? Sometimes, other teams are just better. Seahawks beat the Broncos in every phase of the game on Sunday.
  19. Here in Boone Co., that was the heaviest combination of whatever it was I've ever shoveled off of my driveway.
  20. I've got a relative in St. Loius that just posted they had an earthquake overnight. And no I'm not kidding.
  21. I stressed that to my high school juniors in class today.
