Paris will face Bracken County tonight and Nicholas County on Thursday. It will be their first test of the year against Class A schools ... before tonight, they've played 2-4A schools, 2-5A schools and 3-6A schools. Not bad for a Class A team that lost seven of their top 9 players from a year ago. And besides, their only blowout came against top ranked Campbell County, which is no surprise, because the Camels beat Paris by that same margin a year ago. Just don't sleep on this team!

Trust me, the Greyhounds respect the Camels big time ... especially, considering the "beat down" they put on Paris last season in Northern Kentucky. Coach Brooks will have them ready, but just like any team, it'll depend on what team shows up. If both teams come out with their best game ... this should be a very good 10th Region battle at Earl E. Redwine Gymnasium. The difference between this year's Paris team and last season's team, last year, they could play up to 11 players, which is not the case this year! Hopefully, the weather doesn't come into play this evening!

Paris played without two starters and at one time during the game, they had a seventh grader, two eighth graders, a freshman and senior on the court for most of the second half. Bourbon played extremely well .... especially Kennedy Kelly ... and if the Lady Colonels continue to play that way, they'll be a team that needs to be watched! Bourbon had 22 steals and Paris turned the ball over 33 times. Credit goes out to Coach Bill Watson and his team, they got things done on rivalry night at Russ Day's Gym!

No, they shouldn't be flipped ... Bourbon just beat Paris Friday night!

After week two, this is how I rank the top 10 in the region! 1. Campbell County ... right now, by a wide margin!!! 2. George Rogers Clark 3. Mason County 4. Scott High 5. Bishop Brossart 6. Nicholas County 7. Bourbon County 8. Harrison County 9. Paris 10. Montgomery County

Heading into the week, here's my Top 5 1. Campbell County 2. George Rogers Clark 3. Pendleton County 4. Paris 5. Scott, Mason County and Bourbon County (no particular order) and yes, if Paris can knock off No.1 and No.2 this week, then they'll easily be the No.1 team, regardless of what happens against Henry Clay on Saturday! On a side note ... Paris, when this week is all said and done, would've started out the season playing (7) schools that are classified Class 4A or higher ... 2- 4A teams, 2- 5A teams and 3- 6A teams ... not bad for a small Class A school that lost 7 seniors and three starters off last season's All A State Championship squad! :eek:

Just throwing my two cents in, but for what it's worth, Robertson County looked pretty good against Bourbon County on Saturday ... they will certainly be a team that shouldn't be overlooked by any means as the season goes along.:walk:

I loved the fact that back in the late 70's and early 80's when I played at Paris High School, only the district champion made the playoffs. You had to work hard to get in the playoffs and every district game mattered. Under today's format, the Greyhounds, back then, would've probably won three more state championships by getting a second chance. Heck, if you're in a four-team district or a three-team district, you're in regardless ... really don't care for that as much. I think you should earn your way into the playoffs. We played an 11-game regular season and three rounds in the playoffs. Although I like that setup back then, I honestly believe that they should take the top two teams in each district and add an extra game for everyone else ... because most only play 11-games anyway. And furthermore, they could very well have a competitive 11th game instead of a running clock in the first half after a 3+ hour drive. Just my opinion!:idunno:

Barber played only 7 minutes ... stats still have to count and Ashford went down in the first quarter as well .. on that night, Paris' punting game hurt them ... but that game no longer matters, it's Brossart or Raceland that matters for the Greyhounds!

Their long snapper, center, another lineman, a receiver, as well as their top middle linebacker and Barber only played one possession.

I understand perfectly what you were doing and I know they were not rankings but I was just saying that when it came to Paris and Ludlow, the strength of each's opponent's schedule didn't matter, because Paris was clearly the best team, even though Ludlow's schedule was a lot tougher!
