I'm a UofL season ticket holder & I couldn't agree more, that's why I'll be at The Pit this Friday instead of PJCS... Go Rocks!

I agree that 2002 is the leader in the clubhouse, so to speak. But if things go as expected this year I think this team will surpass them. I assume 1984 was brought up because that's the only other time I can remember when the Rocks had multiple D-1 prospects. 1984 had a lot of individual talent but for whatever reason never seemed to come together as a team, as evidenced by their unceremonious exit from the playoffs by a much more inspired group of xaverians...

The only similarity between the two is that both had multiple D-1 athletes on the field. This years team has the potential to go down as the best Rock squad to date. I've closely followed Trinity football since the mid '70's & I'm not sure the '84 squad would even crack our top 10...

they did last year & I'd expect the same this year...

It will be played exactly like a real game, special teams & all...

Drakes is just to the west of campus, is fairly new & very good, but likely will be very crowded. Bluegrass Brewing Company next door to Drakes is pretty solid as well. Brendan Osheas, next to BBC is also a great atmosphere, decent bar food...Those are all close enough to be able to park once & do everything on foot, including game, before you have to leave...Safe travels & good luck...

It's a scrimmage in name only & that it doesn't count on their records. In every other way it will be played as a real game; refs, clock, timeouts, etc...

the schedule I have lists 7:30pm but the heat could push that back...

it was a real good crowd but certainly did not appear to be a sellout. highlands appeared to have the larger share of support but the Rocks were certainly well represented as we always travel well...I would expect much of the same in a few weeks...

I'm not saying he didn't but I don't ever remember Brohm seeing the varsity field as a freshman other than dressing & standing on the sidelines...

I'm not positive but I believe that is correct...

James Quick is the first one that I'm aware of that played significant minutes on varsity as a freshman but there have been a few who have dressed varsity near the end of the season over the years (B. Brohm, maybe Matt Stein & Tim McConnell) could be a few others but I doubt very many more...

feel free to take this w/ a grain of salt (I know I am given that he's an incoming freshman) but I recently heard from a fairly reliable source that there's a pretty good chance he will be backing up Dawkins on varsity...

This is the first I have ever heard of it, I have asked about it, and no one has fully refuted it. I would have thought this would have been fully refuted the first time someone bought it up in this thread, but it wasn't. Until this discussion I had never heard of anyone sponsoring a student to attend T or X or any other Lou. private school for that matter. I am confident that both programs operate well w/in the guidelines of the KHSAA & I will continue to believe that until evidence is presented that says otherwise. I can't believe that it is so hard for many of you to understand why a young man who happens to be a good athlete would find his way to T for a high quality education & exposure on a high quality football team, same as a student interested in drama would be interested in attending YPAS, or a gifted Math / Science kid would seek out Manual...

you would apply for financial aid & work study & hope to qualify for the maximum amount of aid, which would be 50% of the cost of the tuition. you would be responsible for the rest of the bill...I have 5 siblings & we all went to catholic schools K-12 & my dad didn't make all that much money, but we always had what we needed, but not much extra. we went on one family vacation when I was growing up & my parents both drove beat up old cars until long after I left the nest. I am not at all familiar w/ this sponsor nonsense. I'm not saying it's never happened I'm just saying that I've never seen any evidence of it, & until I do I'll just continue to chalk it up to a bunch of innuendo & accusations from folks looking for excuses. If someone knows something I don't I seriously want it reported & I cannot be more genuine & sincere than that...

Not sure of Manuals' last title but they lost to T in the '88 final, 28-0 if memory serves...

The question as stated is whether it's good or bad for Ky H.S. Football. Given those two choices it certainly isn't bad, so it must be good, hence the overwhelming response of good.
