Absolutely. They may have one now. Just wouldn't want Mike to end his career at Manual after 40 years at X.

For the record I would not have an issue with Mike to Manual, just disappointed. He was an good coach and he and his staff served as excellent role models for the players. I don't recall any issues with his players and they have gone on to be successful. That was what he called his "10 year plan". There was a reason he always had 40+ seniors on the team. Still no word on OC apparently.

I agree. Mike would have won in 13. Team was tailor made for him.

That decision was a done deal and not made necessarily by sports people. I don't see Mike making a pitch to X alumni to send their sons to Manual to play sports and give up loyalty to X, particularly if your son has thought about X for many years. The reality also is that Mike is 62 or 63 this year and I wonder how many years he has left. Also, let's face it, even if it is Manual, it is still a public school with a different set of discipline rules.

Several of us who have been Mike's biggest supporters would be very disappointed in him should he take a position at Manual.

My friend Roger Gruneisen is the trivia answer to the above facts. Who had four different head coaches in high school?

Won't happen. Mike is not a fan of Manual.

It is always comforting to know that programs who have yet to win anything know more about how to run our program than we do.

It would make sense though if he were promised the HC I a year or so.

I didn't say that. My point is that when changes are made in highly visible programs there are always questions and innuendos going around with or without any basis.

I agree that certain things could have been done better. Personnel matters are never easy in highly visible programs. Think Bergamini, Aberli, Gruneisen, etc. no one is immune.

I know everyone on here that has nothing to do with the school knows more than the school administrators and coaches, and that the experiences of the past 150 years are not comparable to your knowledge and input, but I am confident that we have an idea about what we are doing and that things will work out.

The policy is clear cut. I played there and my sons were all athletes there. You sign a contract so you know the rules. Every parent meeting begins with a review of the drug and alcohol policy. Bring drugs on campus or an event and you are gone. X has expelled last semester seniors. If you have a problem they will work with you. X has upheld its policy and will probably not win a championship that it would have contended for. What would the outcry have been if X let him compete and punished him later so it could win, and then word got out?

Had the coaching staff been where they were supposed to be, we would not be having this conversation.
