Mason County freshman ran its record to 3-1 on the season. Royals placed 4 players in double figures with Tyler Black with 16, Josh Harris 15, Connor Osborne 11, and Tanner Walton with 10. Next game is Monday night at the Fieldhouse against Montgomery County. The Indians handed the Royals their lone loss on the season 49-43. :flame::fight::fire:

I guarantee this game has been circled on the calendar in his office for a long, long time. Should be a lot of fun and a great atmoshere.

Mason County defense is stingy. 42 in regulation versus Highlands, 39 versus Cov Cath, and 29 tonite. They just need to get in a rhythm on offense, get some easy transition baskets, convert shots around the rim, so they can get their press set up.

Mason County schedule is brutal: After the first the year games inlclude; at Scott Co., at Henry Clay, at Dunbar, at Clark CO, at Elliot Co, at Bryan Station. Home games versus Lex Cath, Madison Central, Montgomery Co., and I believe Campbell Co. Throw in the Ky Bank Shootout against Franklin Co. and the game at NKU versus St.X plus the tourney in Daytona over the holidays. Maason Co. could go into postseason play with several losses, but valuable experience. The 10th region will be an interesting tourney this year in Northern Ky.

Anything can happen in a one and done situation. Ask Holmes, ask UK.... I know it is a far stretch to repeat, yet even get out the 10th region, but having belief is a a major motivator.

Mason County is a very young team as far as experience outside of Middleton and Downing. Congrats to Phil Barner on his performance last night. His improvement throughout the year gives Mason Co. another weapon and a post presence. Once Hammer gets healthy, his minutes will increase and our leadership will be second to none. The three sophomores will go through some growing pains but will be battle tested when tourney rolls around. The experience they gain throughout the whole year will pay huge dividends in March hopefully. Justin Lang will provide quality minutes off the bench with his defense and intensity and Mandella Rice will provide some offensive punch from the outside. This team has a great makeup with some quickness and length. Mason County's schedule is very tough and there will be some bumps along the road, but when March rolls around it is EAT IT SLEEP IT REPEAT IT!!!!!

No matter the age or grade, if you can make the cut at whatever level, then utilize the kids. All I can say is believe it.

Two things I have on the player rankings. How can Vinny Zollo be ranked the 3rd ranked player in the region and hasn't played a official game yet? Secondly, I believe 6-10 is definitely very questionable as far as how they are ranked. Not very good in my opinion and way off base near the bottom of the rankings.

No I am saying that I am not foolish enough to believe that. Nothing more, nothing less! We all know what the main emphasis was in the moves.

I totally agree about the statement that Corbin is not 41 points better on any day other than today. I also stand by my thoughts in another post that some posters on here from Winchester were raising the bar too high on this team too quickly. I agree they will be a solid team later in the season, but I also stumbled across some thinking the ticket was punched to Rupp, which I clearly believe there is about 4 teams that might differ in the region.:eek:

Pretty sure his injury is similar to what Jodie Meeks had last year at UK. He is a super kid and a tremendous leader on the team, I hope the best for him on Monday.

Hamm goes to the doctor Monday and is hopeful for a release and Downing is out until Friday.

Mason County beat Knott Co. 74-65. Russ led the Royals with 27, followed by Setty with 12, and Pawsat with 10. The Royals played without the services of Downing and Hamm.

Coach Felhaus again had every official intimidated the moment the officials walked out of the dressing room during warmups. Someone in that gym would not survive if Big Coach was still on the sidelines.

Top player in the 10th Russ Middleton has 20 so far, two football players and sophomores (Gilbert and Pawsat) have seen some action with one practice under their belt....looks as if they been at practice the whole time.

34-17 Mason....Middleton,Setty, and Barner scoring the majority of the points. Downing is not playing tonite for the Royals not sure why.
