Have to agree with ya B C. Although I wasn't one of the posters that had it that close. Guess there is a good reason why I don't go to the casino ! Great way for the Lady Bears to open the season. Congrats to them . Don't remember the last time Bracken has won a girls Varsity game against Mason County. Think they may have finally gotten over a huge mental hurdle. And to Coach K on that first win as the official Head Coach. What a great way to start a Varsity Head Coach career. To the Lady Royals : Thought they played a heck of a game and see them only getting better as the season goes along. Good Luck to both teams in 2008 !

Unless I missed one somewhere, it was February 17, 1992. Bracken co. won 59-56 in Maysville.

Hannah Haight led Bracken County with 17 points and 16 rebounds. Ware added 12 points. Keller Menke had a double-double for Mason County- 15 points and 13 rebounds. McKenzie Butler and Bailey Menke added 12 points for apiece for the Lady Royals.

D. Chambers played as a 7th graders if I am correct also.

Very evenly-matched game. Way too many turnovers (27 for each side) and way too many missed shots, but that''s to be expected this time of year. Key point in the game may have been Mason's coach getting teed up for coming out of the coaches box - a 4-point posession for BC when it looked like MC might take control of the game. To his credit, Coach owned up to it in the post-game interview.

 

I was impressed with the play of 00 for Bracken County (Haight?); she presented a tough matchup for Mason County. BC had good luck goint to her on the inbounds play a couple of times when she was isolated against a single defender.

 

I thought that the 7th-grade PG (Butler) for Mason County played a pretty good game also. She played beyond her years last night. Good to see balanced scoring; there were lots of questions as to where the Lady Royals' points would come from after Keller Menke.

 

Somthing tells me that these two teams may be pretty evenly matched over the next few years. BC won the JV contest 56-53.
