Thanks for the clarification on the time committment. So, he's going to the Air Force Academy Prep School, and not the Air Force Academy. Got it! If I understand correctly, going to the Prep school doesn't lock you into going to the Academy. I believe he could still attend another institution after the 1 year of prep school, just as with all prep schools. When I looked at the preps schools site, they also mention appointments, and not scholarships. Regardless..a great honor.

Congrats to Colt. It is my understanding that one receives an "Appointment" to the Air Force Academy. Though I'm sure athletics played a part in him securing his appointment, it is by no means an athletic scholarship. He could stop lacing them up after his freshman year and still not have to worry about his "scholarship" being revoked. Unlike an athletic scholarship which is renewed yearly, I believe he's signed up for a bit more than 4 years with the Air Force. Again..congrats Colt and thanks for serving our country.

According to the local paper, the admin will be in Lexington this week networking. Listen to yourself. Do you really think that Dale and staff are the ONLY coaches in the state that demand dedication? I would encourage you to take a sabbatical from HHS football for a year and adopt another program. Get involved. Ask the coach how you can help. And you'll be surprised to find that those coaches work just as hard, have kids that work just as hard. Wait until they start that first spring practice on the parking lot, because the field hasn't repaired itself from last year and the practice field is still slop from the rainy practice in november that left if sitting in puddles. (not to mention the fields are both still wet from the spring thaw.) Life is a bit different in the "blue collar" town of Ft. Thomas than it is out in the rest of the state. Make no mistake, what HHS has is special, but it's about WAY more than just the dedication of the players.

I'm the den leader for my son's cub scout pack. The meetings are set at the beginning of the school year. Trust me, I wanted to attend, but had 10 youngsters counting on me. I'm certainly not taking a side here. If it was a bad call, it was a bad call. I didn't mean to allude that you were wrong. My friend probably had a completely different angle.

Were you there? I just got a text from a friend who was there and they said the shooter was knocked down. If that's the case, it was an easy call. I must admit, I wasn't there and I wasn't listening either.

if the South Oldham team that played the first half of the district finals shows up, all bets are off. With the injury for A.C., on paper, they are at a disadvantage. If South Oldham is hitting on all cylinders, A.C. will have their work cut out for them. But..that's what is fun about March....it's anybody's game one the tip it off.

Provided 1) a coach has been hired or 2) an assistant from last year is in the building, I would be shocked if South doesn't have some form of spring practice. You can have a very effective spring practice without full pads and scrimmages.

I hope, for South's sake, that they don't view themselves as the favorite. I have to think Shelby Co. is the favorite, regardless of rankings. It would be one thing if South had a history of taking care of business in the regional tourney and had a few Sweet 16 appearances, but without either, they should just plan to show up and put it on the line each game. I do think they are capable of winning the 8th. They have the talent to do it.

CM...you've seen the Dragon's play a few times this year, is this the worst you've seen them shoot? Is it their Achilles heal? Did North apply the D to cause the poor shooting, or was it just a matter of South missing open shots. How was the crowd? I was on US-42 last night and the stream of cars coming out of campus was impressive. If seeds play out, round 2 will be in the same gym in a few weeks.

I have no firsthand knowledge, but I would doubt that the real estate/salad dressing/pool cleaning men would be broadcasting. It's one thing to broadcast from the friendly confines of your own school (and get it to work), but to do it on the road.... Big difference between DC and Head Coach, IMO. Lot's more responsibilities come with the job. There is no doubt he is ALL HHS football, all the time. I would prefer him to prove he has what it takes as a head coach and then come back and get the HHS job when it opens up. I don't think it's a lock he'll get the job when/if it opens up. I'm sure there will be very strong candidates. (then again..he does have a good relationship w/ the athletic director :lol: ) Back to the topic..IF he were to venture outside of the hallowed halls of HHS, I think he would be a top candidate for a head coaching job.

My understanding is that he fell hard during the OC game and came down on his hip. I'm not sure what is status will be for the region.

I was there for the first half, and during that time, South had North looking confused. They threw several defenses at them that seemed to really slow them down. In fairness to North, they also missed quite a few close shots. It was 12-10 at the end of the 1st and 35 - 18 at the half. North had held Foley and St. Julian in check. South got a BUNCH of open looks at the 3-point shot in the first half. From the looks of the final box, North couldn't keep Jackson in check. He finished w/ 28 and could have been more, as he missed a few free throws in the first half. I'm thinking by the end of the game that "daddy's boy" (at least that's what it sounded like the North student body was chanting when Jackson went to the line in the first) was having the last laugh. Also, Kramer didn't play for South. Should make for a an interesting regional tourney. Congrats to both schools.

I'm guessing CrestwoodKnowitAll might not really know it all. I see Coach Simpson back on the sidelines again next year, and potentially more years after that.

I had to re-read to get clarity as well. The first qualification included an important and clause. iv) Shall meet one of the following additional qualifications: a. Have graduated from a public or accredited high school and hold a provisional or standard teaching certificate; b. Have completed sixty-four semester hours of college credit from an accredited college or university as documented by an official transcript; or c. Be a graduate from a public or accredited high school and be in compliance with the local district standards for serving as an approved substitute teacher as approved by the Education Professional Standards Board.

I don't know BF, was there ever a determination as to what caused it to misfire during the season? Maybe these 2 incidents/accidents are an indication that the cannon itself if showing it's age. And if so, there may be a chance that this specific cannon is more dangerous today than it was a week ago. I struggle with the fact that this cannon has been in operation since 1968 (according to the linked article) and within a matter of one football season, we've had a misfire (which could have caused an accident) and the accident last week. I prefer to think we have an issue with the cannon, as the other option saddens me to think about. I've grown up with this tradition. I sat in the stands in the mid-70's listening to it blast as LN and the rest of the Bird's marched onto a state championship, I was a manager during the early 80's for those state championship runs and then had the pleasure of running down the steps to it as a player. And now my boys jump in the stands when it fires. It never gets old and I love it dearly. But, for the life of me, I can't convince myself that it should still be fired.
