  1. LN: somewhere...deep down in the memory banks, you want another shot at CC to make up for the one blemish on that senior year record. In reality, if you are trying to build a program (or rebuild a program), HHS is the last team you want on your schedule. Any progress you might be making during a season can be quickly wiped out. As you've stated on many occassion, HHS isn't into "helping" anybody. If HHS can beat you by 100, then by all means, it's the opponents job to stop that from happening. If you're an up and coming program trying to build on baby steps, a 70-0 smashing (with an onside kick thrown in for good measure) doesn't do you much good.
  2. Good win for the Birds! I believe this was the first game without their center who is out with an ACL tear.
  3. I'm struggling to find one benefit for NCC to schedule this game. Coach Schneider and gang have things rolling along smoothly on the hill and have brought the hardware home the last 2 years. Though I must admit, playing in that game was always a highlight, as I grew up with and played youth ball with friends who played at NCC.
  4. Take what GR8BigBull says as a compliment. THS had 12 Titles before Coach Beaty arrived, and when/if the day comes that he decides to not coach THS, I have confidence that they will win more. This is a credit to the school, the community, the parents, the players, the non-football playing students (are there any.. ), and the alumni. I've grown-up/played at the school with 1 less state championship than Trinity, and have had the pleasure of coaching at a HS in Louisville that was in it's 2nd year of football earlier in this decade, and I can't begin to tell you the inherent advantages that all those things I mentioned above provide. Few schools have them, and the rest sure would like them.
  5. Maybe a step back in terms of coaching, but in terms of salary and retirement, I think Ohio has one of the better systems. Does anyone know what system he is currently under? If this rumor has legs, could the above be a factor?
  6. I'm not intimately familiar with Coach Beatty's career record, but has he coached at a school that does not have a history of success? I don't know. No doubt, he's a special coach. But, just as Dale Mueller and other coaches know, what you do with your boys is just a part of what makes a great program. It's started years ago for the "program" and the current players(youth league and parent support). Congrats Rocks!!
  7. Those days are over. Once coach Beatty got his system in place, I don't think you'll see anymore 2-way players. Look at the pattern: 2000--6 people 2001--3 people 2002--0 people It only took him three years to eliminate the need for 2-way players. I'm not complaining. I'm merely trying debate with Trinity fans(except Trinity Alum, he understands!) that there are several reasons that go into why the Rocks are "better". One of those factors is the numbers Trinity draws from. Nothing more, nothing less. I can't believe Trinity Alum in the only Trinity fan on this board that will admit that????
  8. Allow me. 1. Yes 2. Nothing(except win more state titles!) 3. Until they get a new coach, Trinity fans will never complain. Is that number in proportion to the number of kids each school has on the football team?
  9. Allow me to speak for myself. I am in no way, shape, or form "complaining" and "fussing" over numbers. I'm merely making an observation. I have never/will never mention the "R" word. I by no means am infering that Trinity's numbers are a result of the "R" word. Heck, I went to Highlands. I have to fight this stigma also. And let's give it up for Trinity Alum!!!!:thumb:
  10. Is Trinity's coaching staff one of the best? --Yes Does Trinity have great tradition? --Yes Does Trinity have a great feeder system? --Yes Does Trinity have great facilities? --Yes I'm not arguing any of those factors. Trinity ranks at or near the top in each of those categories. But talk to any coach, even the coaches at Trinity(past and present), and they will tell you that because of the number of kids they have coming out for football, they have luxuries not afforded other coaches. I'm not saying that other coaches could win like the Trinity coaches can if you put them at Trinity. I'm not saying that 150 kids automatically result in great tradition. Please don't read anything else into my comments. All I'm saying is that having the number of kids that Trinity/St. X have coming out for football provide the coaches with options that other coaches don't have. And to comment on comparing football to basketball and stating that it's 11 on 11, not 150 on 11, if there are any Trinity posters close to the program, could you provide the following. Based on a rough guess, could you tell me how many DIFFERENT kids start for Trinity. That includes offense, defense, kickoff, kick return, punt, punt return, and extra point. Just a hunch, but I'm guessing upwards of 50 kids, maybe more. That's just one of the options that having a large number of kids provide.
