Miller's presence is what got Setty the shots he had. You have to be stupid to help off Setty and that is what they did. He shot the best of all the Mason players last night, but the best on the team last night is a stretch.

If him shooting the 3 from the top of the key with no one within 5 or 6 feet of him is going to hurt the team and keep them from winning a ball game I think that says it all.

He is listed at 6'3. He has the offensive game to be on a D1 roster, albeit probably a low level one if he wants a chance at playing. He could put up some numbers at a lower level.

Vee Sanford has definitely looked better than anybody so far. Sanford struggled a bit early in the game today but eventually got going. No knock on anyone else, Sanford has just played that good.

Who did the Hazard-Shelby Co. game? There was no consistency at all in that game and tons of missed calls. People all around me from all over state were talking how one sided the game seemed to be called.

I thought he could shoot from the outside? He has passed up several WIDE OPEN threes the last few days. If he refuses to take that shot, no way the kid can play D1 ball at his size.

South is just lucky that they could grab and hold Whitaker all day, or it definitely wouldnt have been that close. Hazard just had a better gameplan coming in. They hit a bad spell down the stretch and let South back in the game. Part of being a good team is getting out to a good start. Guess they missed that one as well. I have given South plenty of credit over the years, so its nothing to do with who they are. I just call em like I see em.

Ask LMB, I was preparing for these type of posts when I came home. I vowed not to go on a tangent in regards to these. Consider yourselves lucky that I'm in such a good mood.

Not really sure. Seems like I remember a kind of younger guy with styled hair making the call.

You are being a little harsh here. He has weaknesses to his game, like anyone else coming out of high school. He is a good ballhandler for his size, plays team ball, finds his teammates, creates shots for himself and others, goes to the boards good, etc. He didnt look like a great shooter (free throws and otherwise), doesnt always go 100%, and wont kill you on the block either. He has improving to do, but he will be able to play at that level. He set up just about all the points Setty had tonight, got a big board at the end and knocked down the free throws. I wasnt blown away, but I didnt hate what I saw either.

I will repeat what others have said. What game were you watching?

Miller didnt exactly give his all on that end of the floor. Several of his buckets were in transition. At one point you say Setty was the best player on the floor, then you say all he can do is shoot? Which is it?

It was hijacked. Compare the number of posts about the 13th to the number actually about the game. Thats what I thought. Now you've got me doing it. Back to the game...

They do give the coaches a hospitality room though.

Not asking for negatives. This is the first time I have seen the team and I am not going to be shy with my opinions about it. You shouldnt either. Who would he replace?

Elliott was fun to watch tonight. The Faulkner's play hard and I was impressed with them. Ferguson looks like a good player, but not the player that many have made him out to be on here. I was impressed with the big freshman, Knipp. Not that he necessarily did a great amount, but he moves well for a freshman that size and looks like he could be a very good ball player down the road. Setty definitely is a very good shooter, but no way was he the best player on the floor or MC's teams. Just about all of his 3's came from Miller drawing the D and Miller kicking it to him for the shot. Miller set all that up. If Elliott's coach says dont help off like some other schools have done this year, then Setty is a non factor. He doesnt do much for MC outside of shooting the ball. Miller is easily the best high school, college, pro, streetball, anything player on that team. MC has to get their stuff together or they will be going home early. Terrible free throw shooting really killed them. Who thinks if Elliott fouls Miller like they should have when he got the ball and they were about to start fouling Elliott has a better chance to win. Think about it, put Miller on the line, he was awful from the stripe as it was. He misses the first and he isnt down there to get the tip or the board like he did on the first two. Something to think about. No doubt Miller fouled on that second board of his. EC has an argument about the calls at the end of the game, thats for sure.

Over who? He hit that big, rainbow 3, but I dont remember much else.

Slone was impressive yesterday. He easily had the best offensive performance of the first round, but I feel many are off base or just werent paying attention if you dont think Vee Sanford looked like the best player in the first round. Sanford did it all and does it on a regular basis. That being said, I would love to see another great performance out of Slone. If he showed a lot on D he could have been the best player all day. Everybody is rooting for the guys from Pville, Slone, and BMR to make a run in his last tourney.

He is more saying SL is not quick, than LC is not quick.

This one could be a good one. Should be another close game. I find it interesting how we all thought it was such a great draw for Mason and they are having to really fight for it now. I was not impressed with Mason tonight and if they play anything like that I will take PT.

Since this thread is about the Hazard-South Laurel game, I think I will post about it. I know that is tough to grasp since everyone else is worried about Corbin and Lynn Camp, but lets see if we can shift gears here. Anyway....Slow out of the gates really hurt South. I was surprised at how much they concentrated on Whitaker. I dont think any other team will defend him the way SL did. They face guarded him just about the whole game, ran an extra defender at him in the half court a lot to get him to give the ball up, and generally that didnt do too much for them. The score doesnt show it, but Hazard was easily the better team today.

I watched the first quarter and thought Shelby Co. looked solid. Not really enough to pick up anything, I was worried about getting over to the Radisson to watch the UK game.

Ugh. I was downstairs for a lot of this one. PT could give MC a game from what I saw though. Don't count PT out.
