Owensboro Wk.4 Predictions/Rash Stadium
Apollo 28, Grayson County 7- As said in an earlier post, Apollo isnt great offensively. But the the Eagles have more than made up for that on the defensive side. AHS shuts down the Cougars and goes to 4-0. Owensboro Catholic 28, Daviess County 21- Neither team is blessed with overall team speed and that should make for a close game between two teams looking to find themselves. Neil Holland will be the difference in this one, but watch for DC's Jake Bevil to have a big game. Owensboro 21, John Hardin 10- Owensboro has been getting better offensively with each game. But JH can matchup better athleticlly with OHS than any team the Red Devils have seen this season. OHS will have to work for their score but the Red Devils prevail in their 1000th football game. Also it will be OHS's first home game on the new turf! :fire:

Owensboro 21 Meade Co. 3
Yes Easypro please explain because I was at the game and there was some pad poppin' goin on out there but it looked clean to me. OHS plays with a lot of fire and emotion on defense and there is no apologies for that. We've always believed in leaving it all out on the field and shaking hands after the game. As for the game, Meade County was as tough as greenwave07 said they would be. It was a tight one throughout, but OHS's Nick Hall got loose in the second half to come through for the Red Devils. I thought OHS's line did a fantastic job blocking Meade County with the Green Wave having as many in the box as they did. MC was very tough on defense, and very fundamentally sound on offense. Whoever goes to "Death Valley" will get all they want from MC. I just thought the overall athleticism of OHS prevailed in the end. Hall got loose to put OHS up 14-3 and that forced Meade to go to the pass and then OHS defense stepped it up in the fourth quarter. Then Hall busted loose again for the backbreaker. After another OHS stop on D, Hall returned the punt back for a TD, but it was called back making the final 21-3. Meade missed a golden scoring oppurtunity in the second quarter when a pass in the end zone was deflected at the last second by the OHS corner. OHS held to a field goal. :fire:

Owensboro Area Predictions- Week 3
Yeah I think thats the rap on OHS aces03. If OHS can continue to distribute the ball and still get Nick Hall his touches then I think OHS will be fine offensively. Most teams have been putting 8 or 9 in the box anticipating the OHS run and the Red Devils need to continue that with screens, slants, fullback hitters, and passing to the running back out of the backfield. OHS did a great job of that last week, and I look for them to continue to improve offensvely. :fire:

Owensboro Area Predictions- Week 3
Apollo 28, Owensboro Catholic 24- Apollo's offense has struggled this season and Catholic will show improvement but Carlbergs Eagles will pull out the win late. AHS's inablilty to pass should allow the Aces to bring everybody up on the line of scrimmage, and if the Eagles do pass Brian Winklepeck is going to have to step up and hold down the secondary for Catholic. Stewart Ijames should give the Aces "O" a boost but it'll be the combo of Damian Washington and Devin Matlock will be too much for OCath. Henderson County 42, Daviess County 21- I think there is a lot of anticipation out at DC to see how the Panthers stack up after their first win of the 06 campain. With this one being at Reid I see the Panthers playing high on emotion and hanging around for a while, but the quick feet of Antoine Lightfoot will be the undoing of the Panthers. OHS 28, Meade County 14- Speed Kills. OHS has a lot, Meade doesnt. I think the big plays will do the Green Wave in Friday night. If OHS doesnt start to cut out the penalties this one could be even closer. :fire:

Owensboro Area Predictions - Week 2
Owensboro 28, Owensboro Catholic 7- I see some on here have this as an upset and after lasts weeks game I can see why. Owensboro's "o" was non existant while Catholic suposedly squandered some red zone oppurtunities. But this Friday I see OHS making fewer mistakes and running the ball more to wear down the Aces. I hope Steele Stadium is ready by Friday! Apollo 24, Madisonville 7- Looks like the Eagles win the Mad'ville city championship! I see Apollo crusing in this one. Hopkins County Central 21, Daviess County 14- I think the Panthers will make the Storm sweat this one out before HCC prevails late. Marcus Kimbrall was a great choice for DC. Evansville North 35, Henderson County 14- Too much big play ability from the Huskies for Henderson to deal with. Lightfoot will bust one this game but its not enough. :fire:

Evansville Mater Dei 21 Owensboro 7
Great recap strike. I came away feeling very dissapointed not only that OHS lost but the way they lost. The Red Devils were their own worst enemy, getting penalites that would negate those huge punt returns, and any forward progress on offense. I wasnt there at the start of the game but I was told MD fumbled a lateral into the end zone were OHS recovered for at touchdown but the play was ruled an incomplete pass. Also later in the game OHS attempted a halfback pass were the receiver was wide open but the pass was overthrown. That probably would have been a TD. As far as the playcalling I TOTALLY AGREE. OHS looked completly out of sync. I think OHS needs to dump the 4 wide one back set and just run the ball out of the "I". Thats the only was OHS moved the ball was by running it. Also I think it would benefit QB Austin Moss more by passing out of the "I" becaue he could take 3 steps and make his reads instead of rolling out. When Moss rolls out the defense closes too quick therefore making it hard for Moss to make his reads. Thats not his fault but the coaches need to see it and adjust to their personel. OHS is going to have to score some points offensively this year or they will be in a dog fight with EVERY TEAM they play. I hope the Red Devils coaches make the adjustments and come back ready next week against Owensboro Catholic. :fire:

Owensboro-Mayfield Scrimmage
OHS won the varsity part of the scrimmage 14-0. This was a defensive battle throughout and Owensboro had a couple of big plays to offset a very stingy Cardinal bunch at South Hopkins Middle School in Mortons Gap. OHS's scoring came first off of a defensive interception by Neil Johnston on a screen pass, and the second came off a 65 yard jaunt by senior running back Nick Hall. On the JV side OHS also won 14-0. The first came off a 50 yard TD pass by Nick Bush, and the second coming from the freshman team with Marcus Winstead taking a slot screen and going 60 yards for the score. I came away very impressed with both teams defenses. Needless to say both teams "D" are way ahead of the "O", but that is to be expected this time of year. :fire:
