  1. Go Tigers! I think special teams is what can get this game out of hand. Central is always tough and will give the Tigers problems on the edges with their overall team speed. I'll go St. X 45 Central 10.
  2. Tigers win, and if Central's special teams play is the same as last weeks then it will be a similar score as their game against Manual.
  3. Took Trinity in week 1, but I’ll go with Moeller in week 2. Trinity - 14 Moeller - 24
  4. He's going to be a good one. Looking forward to see how they continue to get him the ball as the season goes.
  5. Especially being an offensive and OL guy, the OL had their struggles with false starts and a few bad snaps. False starts are mental mistakes that come back to bite you against good teams, and he knows that. Coach Wallace probably also knows there were some points left out there and some of those points were left out there because of their own doing. But like he said they were able to beat a good team to open up the Sean and that's always a plus.
  6. After watching the replay late last night here are a few take aways: The X defense is really good. The long TD run the DL doesn't get into the B gap and the the O RB hits that crease with nothing to slow him down other than the goal post. The X ILBers were really impressive to me. The two had last year were really good but the 2022 version seem faster and equally has good. The preseason talk about this defense being the fastest in the Coach Wallace era lived up to the hype in my opinion, they were flying all over the place. The X offense was able to take advantage of some running lanes to keep the Red Devils at arms length. It's the first game so as a fan I'm not too concerned about the next thing I'll just yet, but they have to become more efficient in the passing game. Either Boone or Havill have to be able to do that. As stated earlier, it takes reps and I think they'll be able too, but I think it may be Boone just because he does seem to make the read faster and get the ball out of his hand. The accuracy will get better. I was impressed with Owensboro from the eye test. They sure do look the part. #25 on defense was very good, and overall thought their line play was very good. A lot of the time the line play is what trips teams up against the X's and T's of the world, but they had the dudes upfront to win these types of games. I really liked watching their RT; he's a dude! Overall, both teams have the potential to be their at the end, good luck to both teams during the rest of the season.
  7. The edge of St. X's defense is going to be tough. Micah on one side and Panarillo at the other; have fun game planning for that offensive coaches.
  8. Reading the CJ article this morning, it's pretty clear the X offensive staff want Havill to be the starter but just can't clearly beat out Boone for the job. Boone will be all over the place on offense, I would envision kind of like Mekhi Smith last year in terms of lining him up to manipulate the defense so X can get what they want. My guess is they'll use both QBs the first two weeks and then try to settle in on just one for week 3 against Male.
  9. This is what I come back to. Owensboro and Manual played pretty even for a little bit that I saw, now it's a scrimmage but Manual also has struggled against X, T, and Male over the years. So it will be how to Owensboro deal with a step up in competition; like last year will they have a guy that can right the ship if things start to get out of hand? They don't need the talent set of Wimsatt, but just someone that can stay focused and not allow a bad play to turn into multiple bad plays. The same can be true for X, especially on offense because that will be the biggest question mark. But those questions are what make the beginning of the year so exciting, which players are ready to step and take on those leadership roles within the team. Can't wait until Friday night!
  10. I don't know if there's an unknown like Sivori last year. Boone and Havill are good players but even combined it will be tough to match the production of Savori. Havill has probably the most potential but he seems at times to hold the ball too long waiting for guys to come open. Boone is probably more like the style of Sivori, tough player, and can a lot of things well, but probably not the tough runner like Sivori. Where X will make up the rushing yards will be in three deep RB position. The ability to rotate fresh backs in mid August is very beneficial.
  11. These two usually play competitive games and being the first game of the year that will probably happen again. I'll take Manual, 21-10.
  12. Yeah, Wimsatt was the real deal in getting the Red Devils back into the game. Should be another good one, but hard to see another shoot out like last year.
  13. The early computer ranking from Massey have a prediction that favors X, 42-13.
  14. The O inside LBers are tough, but they are a bit undersized so if the X OL can work up to them in the running game there cold be some nice running lanes for X to run through. Similar to last year. O's 4-2-5 defense is going to be tested against X's running game, but I'm sure O will adjust and try to add another player into the box for run support.
  15. Don't see as many points being scored this year by either like team like there was last year. The strength of the Tiger offense is upfront, but just a little of what I saw from their scrimmage against Douglass, they don't look like guys who have played together very much. For me, the X OL has to be able to be consistent to allow their skill players the opportunity grow and develop into varsity starters. If they're consistent upfront, then they should be able to control the game and win a tough game against a tough opponent. If they're inconsistent it will be a tough game that will come down to the wire. The Tiger defense will be really good and did a good job against FD last night. The thing that impressed me most was their ability to rotate players and not lose much in terms of productivity. Best time of year as Football Fridays are getting ready to get rolling again!
  16. Tiger offense didn't show very much tonight. The obvious question is who will be their playmaker? I think it will be the freshmen WR, Harbin. But he is a young player so it will be a process. Good opportunity to get better tonight and nice transition to week 1 next week.
  17. I can see why they would be 7 based off last year, but they won't be ranked 7 for long. They have a lot of solid juniors that should help the Rock faithful put last year way in the rearview mirror.
  18. Very good teams over the last few years, but I'm just not a believer in them and part of that is because of the hype that is always around them. Not necessarily their fault, but I put them in the fools gold category.
  19. Offense for X, I'll be interested to see how they distribute reps between Boone and Havill.
