The Empire Strikes Back?
LongTimeReader replied to DevilMayCare's topic in KY Football (High School)
While last year was a struggle for the Rocks last year, the biggest benefit was they were able to get a lot of young players live varsity reps against top competition. There is no spring practice, summer practice, or 7 on 7s that can compensate for live varsity experience. Trinity's junior class is supposed to be really good and if they continue to progress throughout the season there is no reason not to think they won't be one of the teams playing in December. Like others, I see it coming down to the Catholic rivalry of St. X and Trinity. Both will have very good defensive units; which offense can find that consistent playmaker will be key as the season progresses. Can Male be a factor? Sure they can, they can reload with the best of them. But they're the team that is replacing the most production on both sides of the ball than the other two top 6A teams. -

Yes, it will be interesting to see the Tiger offense as they look to replace the production of Sivori, Smith, and Duddy. -
It just seems incomplete.

The defense will probably be called on a lot the first few games as the offense finds their footing. While the offense has to replace a ton of production from last season, they do have some really good young skill players that could play their way into a varsity role. -

Just saw this…tough news for the Male Bulldogs but would anticipate he’ll be good to go by at least district play rolls around.
-
That is correct. St. X withdrew because of the heat index.
-
Hearing St. X may have withdrawn from the tournament.
-
Will heat index be an issue for the tournament?
-
How much of their OL do they bring back from last year?

Jakob Dixon (Pleasure Ridge Park '23) Recruiting

Seems to be an under the radar prospect with upside measurables. -
On a scheduling front, playing two out of state teams could come back to hurt them. Shouldn't have a problem with Floyd Central, but if the other IN team is able to beat Male, then a loss to an out of state school could really hurt their RPI.
-
Dang, that's a big blow for them. I heard just a few days ago that Collins was at Oakland but didn't know Spencer had departed as well. Spencer is a load upfront, and the loss of him will be more difficult for Male to overcome than the loss of Collins.

I haven't heard or seen anything about his plans after St. X. Hope he is able to continue his playing carrer somewhere; here's too good of a football and even basketball player to not get a shot somewhere.

Micah Carter (St. Xavier '23) Recruiting
LongTimeReader replied to Tigerpride94's topic in KY Football (High School)
Probably a good spot for him. He had a rough couple of years because of injury so I'm sure that's why some of the bigger schools backed off, and there would be a lot of pressure on him if he decided to go to an in-state school. Brohm and co. will more than likely give him every opportunity to develop and be a significant contributor for the Boilermakers. Congrats to Micah. -

Just got a text that Micah Carter has committed to Purdue. -
If I looked at schedules correctly I think the common opponents between the two teams are Bowling Green and McCracken Co. St. X beat both teams while Christian Co. struggled against both. If St. X continues their focused play like they did in the regional tournament they should take care of business. Go Tigers!
