There would have been others apply for the basketball position. It was made known that the principal had already decided to give the job to Davey before it was posted. As I've said before, I am not a fan of the Good Ol Boy hiring network. I believe in hiring the best person availiable. That being said, I wish Boyd Co nothing but the best this year and in the future.:thumb:

Greenup Co has the players and I am picking them in spite of their coach :creepy:and the fact that I'll be pulling for Raceland against them.

I resemble that remark!:lol: Greenup Co is the early favorite. The changes I would make are: 3. Bath Co 4. Fairview 5. Greenup Co 6. Ashland 7. Raceland 8. Lewis Co 9. Morgan Co 10. Rowan Co

As I stated last year before the season, Russell will need three years to contend in the region. That hasn't changed. Now, it will be two years until the talent is ready. I hope the boys prove me wrong.:thumb:

He may have grown an inch. But, he looks like he has put on some muscle. He will be hard to guard in the lane. I did not see him play this summer but he is very athletic and the potential is there.:thumb:

I know that we will have to agree to disagree on this point! As far as outside influence, other than Fraley himself, it was not a factor in naming him coach.

I didn't mean to start the season. But, possibly by the end of the season.

They have four good starters returning and a very talented group of younger players that should compete for starting positions. I believe that Baker is a Jr or Sr this year and could be a top ten player. With the talent Greenup has returning, anything less than 3rd-4th in the region should be considered a disappointment. I am not picking them this high because of their coach, but in spite of. This is a group of good kids and I hope you Muskies have a great year!:thumb::thumb::thumb:

I never said they would be a factor, only 3rd or 4th.:thumb: If I'm not mistaken, the Eagles only lost one game this summer. Elliott is most likely the only factor.

Agreed! I also stand by my earlier post. Greenup should be third or fourth in the region and Fairview will still be top dog in their district, without Hall.

Greenup Co should be a top four team in the region this year with four starters returning and a lot of young talent. Anything less than fourth would be disappointing with the talent they have! 1. Elliott 2. East Carter 3. Greenup 4. Fairviw-Now that Hall is leaving, they drop a spot.

The best thing Davey could do would be talk Brice Thornbury into coming out of retirement to assist him.

That could have been taken to the bank way before the job was posted. The principal wanted him regardless of who might have applied. I have never been an advocate of the Good Ol Boy system. I believe the jobs should be posted state-wide and the best applicant chosen. As I have stated before, Boyd Co is certainly not the only local school that utilizes this system. That being said, Coach Wooten is a die hard BC Lifer and I am sure he will give the job everything he has. I wish him the best and I will be pulling for him to achieve great things with the program.:thumb:

The principal's decision for coach has been made for some time now. The posting and any interviews will be moot, regardless of who might apply.:confused: Instead of searching for the best qualified person, it comes down to the good ol boy system. This is a shame. However, Boyd Co is far from the only school in our area that utilizies this system.:sssh:

The Sunday times are 6-9 PM and the service on Monday is at 10 AM.

The visitation is 6-8pm Sunday @ Carmen Funeral Home in Flatwoods. The funeral is Monday @ Church of Christ in Ironton, OH. Mr. Harold Dodd was a truely wonderful and caring man. In 1975 I was working a summer job on the railroad driving spikes 10-12 hours a day with Coach Steve Dodd. I was sleeping in the back seat of my 1973 Dodge Challenger. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Dodd welcomed me into their home for the summer as soon as they heard.

Well, perhaps if you had gone 11 deep on your list, you may have included the coach that Roger talked to about taking his place.:sssh: However, it wasn't supposed to transpire for another year or two, so Roger must be feeling poorly.
