The Pirates will give it good effort but I'm with you ATL, I don't expect the to be able to hang with the Eagles tonight. Too many bodies missing or less than 100%.
Hope they prove me wrong.
Conservatively Belfry’s wins per season would be in the 6.5 to 6.75 range. The past 50 years would be much better than the first 43 too as they were pretty bad early on.
Belfry is a little too banged up to beat JC this time around. JC is better than they were last year, and no doubt they have some revenge in mind after losing 3 in a row to the Pirates.
Belfry still is searching for the answer on defense against good running attacks. I’m not sure how they will handle a great running attack like the Eagles will have.
It it is tough to pick against the Good Guys In Red but I think this battle is a little too much for them at this point.
I’ve actually not tried my hand at Jerky making. I usually get some from our deer processor though.
I may have to put a couple these recipes to use. I’d like to make some on the smoker.
Week 1 for 2019 starts on Friday August 18
Interestingly enough, over the next few years that date moves up each year, with the 2022 starting date being August 14.
Hopefully after the next 2 year cycle they will vote to move it back a week.

Shake it off, look forward. Not much else you can do.
An example why you can't compare scores in this crazy game, especially early season to late season.
Aug 24 Warren Central 42, Trinity 41
Aug 31 Bowling Green 24, St X 21
Sep 28 St X 21, Trinity 7
If you can reduce it and replace mine with that, go ahead. Thanks.
And isn't that a cool logo? A pirate with a helmet on. LOL
It was worn by Belfry many moons ago.
Preface this by saying I think Belfry is a 3-5 td favorite vs. Lawrence. So I will pick my Pirates to win.
But it ain't no sure thing. Here's my reasons it may be closer than many expect...
Lawrence always gives Belfry fits.
The game is at Luke Varney Field.
Belfry is still without a few starters, particularly on defense.
Lawrence plays the style, and has the personnel to run it, that can hurt Belfry.
Pikeville did it best. A big offensive line and a powerful running game has been a problem for Belfry's front 7. Lawrence can do that too.
Should be interesting...
This game was physical, and Belfry needed that. They hadn't had to play 4 quarters in a few weeks and they needed to play someone who would hit back. Even though physically competitive, the game itself wasn't really as close as the final score indicates, as Belfry held a 36-14 lead with under 5 min to go. CM scored a defensive TD on a Belfry fumble by a reserve RB and then got a late TD with just a few seconds left in the game.
Belfry has some defensive problems though against the run and I'm not sure what that answer is going to be. Hopefully they get it ironed out.
