Christian Academy Louisville 45 Pikeville 7

Featured Replies

The Centurions welcomed the Panthers to Louisville by handing them a 45-7 lacing and a quiet 3-1/2 hour drive home.

Anyone have any clue when Pikeville had a running clock put on them last?

That was discussed some in the thread. I would have to go back and look.

So let me get this straight….Hodge leaves, they lose a couple great players (their best) to Atherton…and CAL is better this year>????  Oh no!

I thought Pikeville played tough in this one. Scoreboard doesn’t show it, but No one in Class 1A is beating CAL.

Ahh, I missed that comment. @Bac2369 chimed in in the P/U game thread with "8-9 years since Pikeville has been clocked".

I think it was this 2017 beat-down by the Belfry Pirates:

They scored early but the Panthers were way out of their league tonight.

I believe LCA clocked them in 2017. I know for an absolute fact that Belfry in 2016 clocked them.

I agree. They will be better after this one. Everything may also look much slower too going foward.

With some key injuries coming in, CAL really pulled away convincingly. D was flying around and physical. Backs were running *angry*. Q’s didn’t do a ton early, but Burke was throwing gas in the 2nd half, and Pfeiffer added a beautiful bomb.

Some very physical play from CAL’s seniors Hilliard/Vazzana/Stoner. Awesome matchup with Owensboro coming up!

I can't remember if the KHSAA's running clock rule was when the score differential reaches more than 35 points, or if it was when the score differential reaches more than 35 or more points in 2017. If it was the latter, then per the update thread from the 2017 LCA vs. Pikeville game, LCA did put a running clock on them halfway through the 4Q.

However, three weeks later that season Belfry was up 35-0 on Pikeville with 9 minutes left in the 2Q, and went up 42-0 with 4 minutes left in the 2Q to undoubtedly have the clock running. Plus the Belfry game was more recent to today.

Nice win for the CAL machine tonight.  Always good to get the kinks out in week zero and get a little tune up for the tougher competition ahead.

CA reloads, after losing some big time players, well coached... and no one in 3A will come close challenging them.

CAL played decent tonight, but not great.  There were some simple mistakes that have to be cleaned up, like jumping offsides on a field goal attempt, which gave Pikeville a 1st down & led to their only TD, but it was just the first game, so I’m sure it will.  There were still some things that have me shaking my head & questioning some things, but onto next week & Owensboro.  I’m sure they’ll be looking for redemption after the last 2 years & then last nights showing against St X.

Pikeville will be fine.  They have a few solid players.  Sorry, I don’t have names but 22 ran the ball hard, 3 is a pretty capable receiver & 50 played well up front on the DL for them.  They’ll be in the thick of it for a 1 A title this year.
