Garrard County 29 North Bullitt 19

Featured Replies

Leading 15-13 at half, the Golden Lions pulled away in the second to win the opening game of the Death Valley Bowl at Lincoln County. Garrard County lost nearly all of its skill position and linebackers from last year, but did return almost all of their entire offensive line. That showed tonight as they dominated time of possession, culminating in long drives that ended with two rushing and two passing touchdowns. Garrard only punted once and North Bullitt muffed it, setting up a score. North Bullitt quarterback Micah Hoke was very good running out of the shotgun, but the Lions defense made a couple of halftime adjustments that really limited his effectiveness in the second half. For a young and fairly inexperienced team, I'd say a solid opening night win.

No stats yet, but quarterback Justin Parsons ran for one score, passed for two more, and was named MVP. Hoke was named MVP for North Bullitt.

Glad to see Garrard win this one.

When the Lions started setting the edge in the second half that pretty much put them in full control of the game.  I agree with @gchs_uk9, I thought it was a good start of the season for the young Lions.  North, on the other hand, had one of the smallest defensive lines I've seen outside a lot of freshman teams.  Might be a long year.

Very happy for the Lions to get off to a good start.  Congrats to my friends there  especially the one on the sidelines.
