  1. Has nothing to do with coach smith, the talent is different.
  2. For Bullitt East, in 1983 and 1984 Fort Knox beat us 65-0 both years. Those are the largest margins of defeat in school history. I know some on here can remember Fort Knox in the 80's, they were awesome.
  3. Good to see the young Chargers respond to the loss last week.
  4. Central will be a team to keep an eye on.
  5. The school doesn't care about football. There is no reason a school that size should be that bad every year. I can understand if some of the 1A schools struggle, but a 3A school should at least be competitive.
  6. What about Slusher at Bell Co.?
  7. I know the game wasn't cancelled, I heard BC didn't get home until 6 AM!
  8. I didn't blame the loss on the refs. Nelson in no way dominated that game. Despite those last 2 drives for negative yardage BE outgained Nelson Co. in offense 293 to 220. BE also outgained Nelson in return yardage 122 to 73. That's 122 yards, but that was mostly offset by the 101 more yards in penalties. Bottom line, you can't expect to win a game when you have 14 penalties, but don't kid yourself, Nelson didn't dominate the game. As far as the FG, the coaches checked it on film, it was good. There is no way it missed left. He kicked it from the right hash and the ball boy standing between the uprights caught the ball.
  9. Do you really want to talk about questionable calls? How about the BE field goal that was called no good, it WAS. The first call was not unsportsmanlike, but was for BE having too many players on the field after the BE defense recovered a fumble. It was a change of possesion for crying out loud. The one unsportsmanlike penalty was attrocious. It was started by a ref on the other side of the field calling a block in back on BE, the official right on top of the play said the BE player didn't touch him, he didn't. Coach Settles was trying to get the ref's attention to get them to discuss the call. Coach Settles was barely on the field, the official to coach to back up, which he did, but he still flagged him. I'm not going to say the bad calls cost BE the game, because BE played poorly, but a Nelson fan has no right to complain about the officiating, they got most of the calls.
  10. BE laid an egg tonight. BE had more yards of offense and more return yardage, giving BE a decent advantage in total yards, but BE commited 14 penalties and had 3 turnovers. Nelson also had 3 turnovers, but only had 4 penalties. That was the difference in the game.
  11. I don't think the youngsters at BE are quite ready to blow teams out yet. I'll take BE 21-14.
  12. BE scrimmaged Ballard Friday. Scrimmage was played like an actual game, Ballard won 20-16. Ballard scored with 2 minutes left to win. That TD was set up by a gift from the officials. On 4th and 20, a BE defender hit the QB right after he let the ball go and was called for roughing the passer. That being said, it was a sloppy game on both sides.
  13. August 11 Bullitt East @ Ballard 7pm
  14. That's a pretty good list. I think Lex Cath. should be no.1 until they are beaten. I would change the bottom of the list a little. 8. Boyle County 9. Louisville Central (This will be a team to keep an eye on. They have a very strong Jr. class. If their QB play improves, they are going to be VERY good.) 10. Bullitt East
  15. I don't know anything about KCD, but Atherton is terrible. They didn't win a single game last year, and really weren't competitve in any of them. But, if you have a program just starting out, any win is a good win.
  16. This thread was started by someone looking for comments on the preseason poll. Go back and read the first post!:fight:
  17. I expect Boyle County to be very good as well. I think they will represent the region in the semifinals. That being said, if Southwestern could manage to beat them, it would finally give SW some legitamacy. Or if SW could actually make it past the 2nd round of the playoffs. Until they can accomplish one of those things, they have no business in a preseason top 10 poll. I don't care how much talent they supposedly have.
  18. I'll wait for the Boyle County game, that will be the barometer for PSW. They played Boyle close last year, let us see if that trend continues. I don't think it will.
  19. It is nothing personal against anyone from Southwestern. Bullitt East is NEVER ranked in the preseason top 10 and Southwestern usually is. When you look at what the 2 teams have accomplished, how can this be? It baffles me that a team that went 7-5 and has lots of question marks on both the offensive and defensive lines can be ranked in the top 10 over teams that had better records, and/or have more returning talent.
  20. I'll pretty much agree with 1-9, but Southwestern at 10 is ridiculous. No team in the state gets more credit for accomplishing less the Southwestern. Every year they are ranked high and every year they are gone by the 2nd round. Ashland, Franklin County, and Johnson Central should be ranked ahead of them. Until Southwestern beats Bullitt East, I think BE should be ranked ahead of the too.
  21. I believe his name is Jonathan Miller. He played for Bullitt Central and has been an assistant under Doug Lucas at BC and Fairdale. He is 25 years old. so his coaching experience is limited.
