What's interesting is Carson seems to hold positions on several issues that many blacks hold. Blacks mirror the republicans on gay marriage and religious issues and their support for gun control has dropped dramatically over the past 20 years. There is also strong support among lower income blacks for immigration reform. Regardless, if he somehow got the nomination he wouldn't get any more of the black vote than past republican candidates had.

I agree with PP92, neither side was anywhere near ready for a black president and I also wonder if we will have another in my lifetime. I'd like to think we will. I do think we will have a Hispanic president and a woman president before that happens. I don't think we're ready for that either.
